I got it in art class when I was a teenager. What it means is don't leave kids unsupervised with India ink during calligraphy lessons.

Great video. We all know that the sheet bend is great for joining ropes of different sizes, but I find it works just fine with ropes of the same size too. After all, it's the same knot found in the bowline. With that in mind, is there any time when you wouldn't recommend the sheet bend for joining two lines? There are so many bend knots, the carrick, the zeppelin, the hunters, etc. But the sheet bend is so great I just wonder why we need the others. I came here after a search for when we shouldn't use the sheet bend, but haven't found an answer.

Not OP but I can definitely answer that. The TLDR of this is Dynamic Loads. The structure used by the Bowline and Sheet Bend is great for static tension but can work itself loose under dynamic loads. Another way of saying this is that it is not shake resistant. Even the Double Sheet Bend will work itself loose over several cycles of loading. Remember that this quality is a key feature of the knot which makes it so easy to untie when you remove the tension.

I have seen but never used this one. Trying to figure out what I would use it for...then came the unicorn. 🤣 Take care, brother.

Always looking for a better way to secure a unicorn. Sometimes you just gotta tie her down by the maine or tail

I use it for makeshift hammocks (use on both sides of sheet material) for my kids.

Great vid… just to say that a ‘sheet’ is actually the line that connects to the sails, not the sail themselves.
