And when you feel isolated and alone against the world in failure, you naturally will manifest that emotion by appealling to your family who will always stand by you and uncondionally "love" you. By envoking his family to give himself emotional cover it revealed that he's self centered and weak. Not a Father or Partner that truly cares for his Family by protecting them. It's been proven today Kyle, as suspected, cares about Kyle first of all. If he does care about his family he could have stepped down and taken a different lower profile Job to spend more quality time with his loved ones. If the Leafs want to take the next step regarding the playoffs, then they need to bring in a GM who is tested(has some substantial to good playoff experience) and will ruffle some feathers a bit. Sheldon Keefe should be absolutely out, no matter who the next GM is. Let us be realistic, maybe in the best interest of the Leafs one of big 4 players should be traded for a good return(like a top 2-way d-man). Jake Muzzin's injury left a big hole in the Leafs defense, as he would have made a big difference for them in the playoffs. It might be time to trade one of the big 4 to fill Muzzin's gap(it seems like his hockey career could be over, right?)?

I'm not a Toronto fan however I agree with you did the coach needs to go, here is where it gets a little bit tricky, you need to get rid of Tavares, do not sign one of the two free agents, this will set an example and send a message to the players that if you don't produce and don't work as a team you will be out, I would like also to point out one huge mistake they made a few years ago the left Engvall go to Edmonton that was the guy that went in the corners and got the pucks but to the guys in front of the net to put them in, they don't have that now I'm just saying that because Mitch Marner on the rest of that crew are in it for themselves
@christhornycroft3686 Жыл бұрын
What led to his departure? How long has he had to build a contender? When you have elite players like Tavares, Matthews and Marner and you're paying then over 10 each, as well as the other talented players on the team, and you don't win, someone has to pay the price. Why they hired a 29 year old to run the team is beyond me. I don't care if he's Steven Q. Urkel. The Leafs should be looking for a veteran GM who can assess where the team is now and make the necessary changes. I still say they need help on the blue line and in goal. If my Canucks would come to their senses and realize they should rebuild, they could offer you Demko.

Taking it to the "human level" "Shanny gave Dubas his start" Who gave Shanny his start? Both Shanny and Dubas "started" in 2014. Difference being Shanny is previously unqualified to be president where-as Dubas had 4 years experience as GM in the OHL, then he had 9 years in the NHL with the Leafs, At what point does Dubas deserve full autonomy?. If Dubas after 13 years with GM/AGM experience still doesn't deserve full autonomy, How the hell does Shanny have it with no previous experience. "Growing the game" in the States and issuing suspensions for department of player safety doesn't translate to president of hockey operations as directly as GM in the OHL translates to GM in the NHL does. The Shanaplan is what has failed the last 9 years and its going to be next to impossible to bring in any GM worth his salt that is going to be willing to put his reputation on the line without having full autonomy to do his job. Bottom line is The Shanaplan has the lion share of the fault directly on his shoulders already, throwing Dubas under the bus should have been a killing blow to Shanny himself as well. Dubas did what Leafs could not do in 20 years. Break thru the first round wall.
@paultaylor1814 Жыл бұрын
If Dubas thought he was being clever negotiating in public he was mistaken. Shanahan has been ruthless in the past so this move isn't surprising. He cleaned house after carefully reviewing the team when he first came in and rebuilt the organization from the ground up. Shanahan probably just had enough with this; he doesn't care much for the media circus and has sent a strong message this kind of behaviour won't be tolerated by the organization.

Dubas already indicated he would have to speak with his family first about staying on - earlier this year. So there was no confusion about the process from his end.

So, Babcock was a "meanie"... and the "players coach" can't win... Hmmm? Have the lunatics taken over the asylum? Gerard Gallant makes teams overachieve (why does he keep getting fired after being a perennial 'Jack Adams' finalist?)
