I always wondered about the rules of mxon with the mxgp rules and ama rules being different. Is it a bring what you got type thing? Could a ama rider that just loves mxon and his dream is to win that race could he put the time into testing mxgp acceptable "mods" to the bike and bring that from the US? Team allowing of course haha. Just curious.

Year in year out the the US always have the same conversations about frames / setup when competing with MXGP riders. Maybe it’s time to actually knuckle down and put the effort into sorting the bikes out before you go. Stop expecting the deep, groomed, watered track set up is going to work on dry or even sand euro tracks. US are also not alone with set up or being unfamiliar with the tracks, there are plenty of other countries in the same position! The world isn’t just US v Europe. On a positive, French crowd is unmatched! Holy shit

You send the best people you can. Some time you get some luck and sometimes you don’t. American distributors don’t always want to send their riders. At one time we use to send teams we knew could never win. Then no one would send their riders. DeCoster talked Honda to send a team. Not the best riders at the time. We won. Big publicity from it. Then everybody wanted to send riders. After we lost about 13 years later they again didn’t want to send riders. Europe has a lot more laps on these track in the days before the race. They do less track prep. They tracks get a lot rougher. I do believe our guys need softer setups. Even when they come over here most riders from Europe do have softer setups. I hear Tony Corolli did like stiff suspension. He was the exception.
@E63s_Scott9 ай бұрын
Interest debate I think you guys finished exactly where you should off just being real, i was personally thinking 6/7th. And that was smooth as fuck for a typical euro track in the second moto they smoothed most of the track and opened it up. Also I’m pretty sure I’ll have to go and check but in the 2023 ktm / husky owners handbook the suspension settings fork’s especially are way stiffer for the EU specs more rebound too I’ll have to check but of the top of my head the PSI is more on the eu spec And lake wood a lot ruttier ? I’m not sure, even still ernee was surprisingly hard for this time of year it’s usually more rutty but they had some freaky hot weather for October
@E63s_Scott9 ай бұрын
Okay so the fork PSI and rebound is different way quicker for the US spec 18 clicks vs 12 for standard 13 vs 7 sport but the rear shock clickers / rebound and sag is all the same

Sorry guys but I just heard a boat load of excuses ,, To go on about bad set up riding 1 track in another country isn’t good,, There’s plenty of tracks in the outdoor calendar with completely different riding surfaces to one another that there changing set up from week to week , Then to say Roczen and Jet are euro based hence there set up is ridiculous. Roczen was a kid on a completely different brand bike when he last rode GPs.

I dont get all the hate. They weren't far off the podium. Moto 3 was the one that lost it for them. AP just mailed it in. That had zero to do with bike setup - he got a 5th in moto 1 in a stronger lineup. RJ crashed at the start in both motos and Craig in moto 3. They just had shitty luck, otherwise they could have easily beat Italy for the podium. Give them 3 months on the track to get their bikes dialed in and they're not beating France or Australia.
