It was bad enough that the Nobles tried to buy their way into heaven what is even worse that the priests allowed them to believe that they could

That was called 'simony,' the buying or selling spiritual or Church benefits such as pardons, relics, etc, or preferments. If you read Dante, he teaches that there's a special circle of hell for these sinners. This is considered an obsolete sin since the practice no longer exists (however, imho, those prosperity pastors with wealthy mega-churches, who tell you to "send them all your money, and in exchange, wealth will come back to you," are pretty close to being this type of sinner if not being that exactly)

There are a few priests going to get to the pearly gates only to find that StPeter tells them to piss off.😊

I believe a flaming pitch was popular. Pitch was a mix of hot, burning tar with jagged rocks, and was poured onto attacking forces as they tried to climb the walls.

I am so glad I was born in modern times. I certainly wouldn't have made it during this time period.

It's important to separate known history vs revisionist history of this era.

I would really enjoy hearing about how women were treated in the castle life. From the lady of the castle down to the lowest scullery maid. What was their lives like in medieval times. Or even before then. How many women were warriors to? Please and thank you 😊.

There are a lot of British history podcasts that cover this topic. I listen to them to help me fall asleep!

Boiling oil was VERY rarely used on attackers. There are some report of it happening but it was extremely rare.

Correct. It was almost always boiling water that was used. A lot cheaper.

Nope, never would have survived in Medieval Times. This opinionated woman would have been toast. 😂

Why is there a "$" sign on the bags of money on some of your pictures? The dollar sign wasn't used for indicating money until a much later time, by people completely unrelated to your subjects

@@j.l.hughes-bailey2401 It's just a visual to go with the narrative. It looks mire like a grain bag instead of a money pouch. The better choice is the joust visual showing them facing each other with the wood barrier crossing in front instead by their side. How can they joist with a 6x6 blocking them from moving forward.

What product did knights use to shine their armor? And, why did they want it sbining? Today, or militaries want camouflaged armor. I guess time chages everything, no?
