They've made numerous games over the years that can vie for the throne of the greatest game ever created, to the point where, at one point, they were the undisputed kings of the role playing genre. And of all the games they've ever made, Mass Effect 2 is arguably their best work ever.

What adds so much replay value to me is the class system. I absolutely love how different the classes are from one another and how much those differences impact the combat experience. I still can’t decide which I love best between Vanguard, Infiltrator or Sentinel.

Mass Effect had many more choices for skills, armors, mods to armors, weapons, weapon mods, ammo types, omni tools, biotic amps, etc. I also really enjoyed the Citadel in ME1, all of the worlds we visited, fighting Thresher Maws, Geth leapers and Armatures and places like Ilos.

I liked MassEffect 1 for it's atmosphere, writing, and exploration. I liked 2 for it's character development and I liked 3 for it's combat. All the games have their strengths and I really wished they would have combined those strengths to make the perfect Mass Effect game but sadly it was not meant to be.

I love the music in ME2 (mind you I love the music in all ME games) especially when the first Normandy was destroyed, the second Normandy being revealed for the first time , when the Normandy is escaping the Collector base and the final shots of the game that revealed the Reapers waking up.

I agree with basically every point in this video but I think one of the most underrated aspects of the game is exploration. It was semi-open which made it better cause you could explore but not to the point where it distracted you with pointless side quests and vast empty spaces. Basically everything in this game felt like it had a purpose which was only one of the things that made it so Damn good.

Story was a big downgrade from the 1st, a lot of it makes no sense. But the characters and the loyalty missions save it. Plus the suicide mission was a cool mechanic in which you got to really prove how much you knew your crew.

I remember buying ME2 just to check out all the buzz, I played it without any caring of my squad and just did a few loyalty missions. I remember telling myself "I don't get all the praise, I just want to finish the main story". Then the last mission came, and because of my decisions Mordin died and Miranda died and Tali died and everyone and thats when I realized I loved those characters. I could live with myself if that was the end, so I started a new file, and finished the game with everyone surviving. And then I thought I wanted to see the story by playing as female Shepard, and after that I realized I was so close to get the platinum than hell why not one more time. I love Mass Effect 2 and hell it's not even my favorite Mass Effect, these characters mean a lot to me, and if they were to remaster these game for the current gen I would be there day one.

I feel the opposite. A tighter crew means more interaction between them. In ME2, every character ignores the others. Tali and Garrus don’t even speak a word to Liara. You’d think they would have something to say to one another after going their separate ways for 2 whole years. In ME3, the smaller crew of 7 talk to each other constantly both in the field and during down time. It’s more immersive that way. But that’s just me.

@@Rainbowhawk1993 That's because Liara was a DLC character in ME2, so her voice actor just didn't have as much studio time not being on the main roster. Creating dialogue for 12 different characters in every scenario is a big job, but I felt like the freedom to choose whatever teammate you wanted was seamless. ME3 Normandy seems like a skeleton crew by comparison, even with Javik who was very boring for being the last Prothean.

He was quite because he was the last of his kind and didn’t want to be friends with anyone. He was an asshole but with a good reason. I just didn’t find it immersive having to care for too many characters at one time.

Wow, I'm kicking myself for sitting on this for so long - as in, it'd been lurking in the ole steam account for years before I finally took the plunge and gave it a tentative go... only to now view it as one of the best video games ever. It's simply impossible to put it down! (Racked up about 24 hours in five days 🤩😇). For the record though, I don't mind the leisurely planet probing game, as it allows for a bit of light relaxation between crazy ass missions! 🙃

Mass effect 2 was a shooter. Plain and simple. There was only renegade or paragon no middle ground. If you tried to play it any other way you were screwing yourself. The game garnered so much praise because the series acquiesced to shooter fans, the x-box's primary audience. The social game at the heart of this title fell flat. They needed a middling option and a few more curve-balls to flesh it out.

Mordin didn't actually engineer the genophage. He just works for the same group that did, the STG. The genophage was used at around 800-850AD, while the trilogy is set in the 2100s. Salarians live around 40 human years, so it is impossible he worked on it.

Nostalgia is a big piece. Played it. Played 1 started 3 . Compelling story and characters. It had a lot of flaws though for something held up by nostalgic fan boys as perfect it most certainly is not. Especially when held on its golden pedestal above Andromeda lmfao. And I personally found it annoying that they had such a low number of things to say so after that they just say the same shit like broken records. Now a game that was closer to perfection and true story telling with compelling characters and story where every single choice effects the game and can create dozens of different story branches. I preferred if there was a bit of both, something like the Mako driving and the planet probing. Still though, I have some faith that the series can fix itself up. They also still need to fix the character creator, NPC designs, unique ships & weapons, their facial mechanics & a strong storyline which Mass Effect 2 & 1 had according to most fans. Personally I thought the bulk of the 3rd game was good except for not increasing Shepard's rank from Commander to Captain or even Colonel from all that he's done for the Systems Alliance, the Citadel Council & the Galaxy at large in the more paragon variation of the games. Besides Jacob's flatness, the inability to do all of the loyalty missions before the Normandy crew gets captured & the Human-Reaper fight. Would have to be the stupid choice to betray Samara and take on her daughter Morinth into the crew. That serves no purpose. It's just a Dick move inserted into the story. Samara may be detached but that's because her mission is something that she can't let emotions compromise and unlike most Asari justicars, it's personal for her since she has to slay her own daughter whom is an Ardat Yakshi, which is like a Psychic Predatory Brainwashing Rapist, which is apparently one of the reasons why Asari prefer to date outside of their species to avoid that genetic abnormality which can be detrimental to the whole galaxy.

It kinda annoys me when people call the Illusive Man a villain or antagonist. Cerberus is certainly harsh with their methods but they were the only ones doing anything about anything. The Council and Alliance spend the entire game sitting on their hands arguing over whose turn it is to descale the coffee machine and blaming Cerberus for everything and calling you a "terrorist", while you're out there saving not only hundreds of thousands of human lives, but the entire galaxy. But yeah, still my favorite game to this day. Only gripe is the enormous "Cerberus" plot hole at the end and that carries over to the beginning of ME 3. But you have to play the game a very specific way to even see that, but I'm sure i'm not the only one lol

Where would the connections to the characters fit? ME2 was the first one I bought once I put it in I realized that there was much more. After a few literal months of trying to find the first I played it anyways. After literal hundreds of hours scouring the game figuring out how I wanted it to play out. The 3rd dropped and I bought it. Never played the 3rd it actually sat for over a year before I touched it because I couldn’t find the first. Many other games came out after the 3rd so this is the reason why it sat collecting dust. Then I found the first played it for a few hundred hours then went to second then 3. It made some of the things in the 3rd seem so much more impactful besides some of the many names issues. I knew after beating it, things would change. I missed those characters because you learn so much of just about all of them. I eventually only ever knew the ending that had been re worked because of a back lash that I had no idea about I stayed away from all ME3 content. Didn’t want something souring the experience. Which was a great idea I don’t think 3 is as bad as everyone says. Thane dying and Mordin dying was impactful. Uniting Geth and their creators as well as Tali’s trial was eventful. Legions sacrifice was hearting breaking. Playing it as I did makes the trilogy seem to mean a lot more. All the banter through them is remembered and loved. Some aspects lacking of course and looking back and seeing how something’s could have been done a bit better. But the love of the devs are there doing everything they wanted to do could have taken a lot longer to produce. Wether blaming EA for pushing things out or the lack of caring about the story that was being told could of been the source of some of the animosity some had. Re playing from 1-3 tweaking decisions and events to see how they’d play out leaves a better taste in ones mouth. The 4th seemed to try and bring new similar characters aboard the story. The criticism of them being not as in depth... seems as though had not taken 3 games and hundreds of hours into those games is what made the characters vivid. The 4th did not have time for this because it was stopped at 4. There wasn’t a 5th and 6th to further develop relationships and story arcs. Which goes against the 4th further exacerbating the animosity many held for the 4th. ‘‘Tis a sad thing but I stayed away from the criticisms of the 4th as well. Making it a much more enjoyable experience. Flaws were apparent but another game could of helped dig further into backstory. Seemingly though we may never know. Great vid

It's not as easy as it may seem. Keep in mind that, after all, it is the Frostbite engine which caused Mass Effect Andromeda to have so many technical issues in the first place - trying to repurpose an engine designed for FPS games to work for a third person RPG was a recipe for in game bugs and issues, as well as giving the developers a really hard time in creating the game itself. On a side note: I genuinely wish that Bioware could stop clinching onto Frostbite so stubbornly, and instead go back to the Unreal engine or any other engine more suitable for the type of games they make. But no! Dragon Age 4 is gonna be Frostbite...
