Both full backs are Fenerbahce players playing with the same role in their club, that is why this tactic was easy to implement in national level. One major difference is Yüksek (CDM) is a crucial part of this strategy both for the club and the national team however he has a slight injury at the moment. There are also some other attacking variations you might see such as Bardakcı (CB) dribbling deep with the ball or extremely fast counters with Aktürkoğlu and Yılmaz. This national team truly feels like Fenerbahçe+Galatasaray with elite middlefielders like Çalhanoğlu, Kökçü, Özcan.

Nice analysis! A fun thing I noticed with Germany, Italy, Netherlands and even some moments with England (Saka suddenly vacating RW and joining the LW), was that players often spontaneously leave their set positions on one flank and conjest the other flank numerically. That way they easily have an overload. Turkey also did this a few times as you've shown in 5:54 and 6:40. As far as I'm aware, this was made popular by Diniz with Fluminense & Brazil, but it's fun to see that this has blown over to the Euro's.

I believe a special anecdote needs to be made for the #6 of Georgia, Kochorashvili. He was the lead man in cutting out passing channels and igniting the counter attacks for Georgia. One criticism i have for Turkiye is that the defensive line is too slow in reaction time. Therefore, the players up top needed to defend better altogether, press more insightfully and keep Georgia in their own half of the pitch. As soon as they were in Turkiye's half, they were a threat all around.

We played without a REAL center forward. Barış alper is actually a left wing attacker in galatasaray. Against teams like portugal it could work cause he is fast and can find much more space in the back. But a team like georgia with 5 defenders , he didn’t know what to do. With a real striker turkey could score more or at least produce more goal positions.

There was another reason why it was a good match for Türkiye; That's the fan effect. In a sense, Türkiye is playing the tournament at home and they will feel the driving force of the fans all over Germany. It also seems like an inevitable emotional bond has been established between the team and the fans. This bond is sociologically different from other teams. Almost all Turkish fans are Turks born in Germany or Europe, and they miss their homeland in every generation. Many of the football players in the Turkish team came from these generations. The atmosphere and passion created by the fans undoubtedly gives extra motivation to the players on the field. However, it would still be beneficial to play more cautiously against the teams that are the favorites of the tournament.

As a Turkish viewer, I would like to say this. Although Georgia seems to be the last in the tournament in terms of technical capacity, it is a team physically equivalent to France in the tournament. And there is something you don't know. 1. Turkey, which passes very well. 2. Turkey, which defends hard and does not concede a goal. :) We beat Croatia by defending hard for 90 minutes with the midfield of İsmail and Salih Özcan. So, if Turkey starts the game against Portugal with İsmail in the midfield, know We will play tough defense.

A lot of things bothered me with our tactic.(Turk)First and most important thing for me there were no sprints behind defence.First goal that we scored O.Kökçü threw a pass so F.Kadıoğlu needed to make that sprint eventually lead to scoring. Also second goal that counted as ofside had same sprint I was talking about.Second thing that bothered me our goals is not came from tactics but it came from personal qualities. Two fantastic shots.Even we can count third goal like this.Third thing is we accepted Georgian attacks and let them do what they want to do.There is only two positive things for me.Almost every starter player should have at least 30 million euros of worth and how they clicked with each other.Their chemistry was on the point.Overall Portogual match will be the real testing match for Turkiye. However I have never noticed the things you talked about. That bring me more fate to our national team because what you told is a compact football and our guys done it like its easy football.

I think the Portugal match will be much more productive for Türkiye. Georgia played with 8 defenders in the match against Georgia. Portugal will play football and Turkey's fast players (these are players at the Champions League level) will find positions easily. In the Portugal match, Turkey's talented midfielders will create more positions for the wing players. Watch especially the actor named Barış Alper.

Man, Turkey got some proper ballers in their team

The issue for Turkey is that two of their goals were extraordinary, once-in-a-thousand occurrences. While they were incredible, it's unrealistic to expect Arda or Mert to score such remarkable goals in every match or against every opponent. Even if you anticipate it, you can't rely on it. Similarly, the third goal resulted from a last-minute hail mary play by the Georgians, which isn't something you expect to see regularly. You could even argue that the goal scored by Georgia had more tactical preparation behind it than all three of Turkey's goals combined. If Turkey can't find a way to consistently generate goals through tactical play, they'll face challenges if they make it past the group stage. I think this lack of productivity is partly due to the absence of a proper striker. Sure, there's Enes Unal, but he's not quite at the desired calibre, Yilmaz is more of a winger, and, well, Cenk Tosun just doesn't have it in him anymore.

If we play like this against Portugal, leao and cr7 will swipe those spaces in counter attack. I think we shouldn't send our both backs to the attack. One should stay in defense to hold those fast players. They should dynamically run back and forth according to ball placement. That can be the key against Portugal. I believe that our creative attackers can find goal positions without the help of a back.
