I have several cast iron pans that my signif other used to cook with when he was alive. he used to make a really good country gravy in them for biscuits and gravy, and also made peanut brittle in them. there is one really big one we used to loving call "Big Bertha" 😀 I miss him, but the pans and his memory live on😢

I learned how to cook on cast iron, I have used it now in my life, and I'm teaching my kids how to cook with it. I am even trying to teach my in-laws how to use it. They always talk so highly when my wife and I cook, I say it's the cast iron pans. I make an award winning jambalaya, too, in a cast iron Dutch oven.

I went camping some years ago, and took a small grill and an iron pan to cook. The grill melted into the fire🤣 the pan just did it and just because mom dislikes how heavy they are we don't use it. By the way, that pan was handed over to my dad from an uncle who found it among other junk when young and took it for himself. Then my dad moved to our actual place and received the pan❤

A cast iron frying pan just works! It does need to be looked after, but that is not a great chore. Everything said in this video is true. My own addition is to use fat, such as lard etc, rather than oil, but that is just my preference, and it will do more than just fry!

Cast iron is wonderful for many things, however it's best to avoid using it with heavy acidic foods like tomatoes which break down the seasoning

Cast iron pans are really good at frying eggs easy-over every day. Eggs don't stick like non-stick pans. However, you can use steel spatulas with the durability of cast iron.

Cast iron needs less cleaning! Most of the time I just wipe the pan out with a kitchen paper roll on the stove. Clean! It stays on rhe stove ready for use the next time. Only with very wet sauce and creamy sauce and tomato sauce I use water. Otherwise just wipe the pan out on the stove. Thats all.
