Oh this is a brilliant idea, the drive round. Like a virtual holiday. I've never been to New Zealand

Thanks! I hadn't thought of it that way - 'virtual holiday'. And NZ is nice... but far away from anywhere!

I was thinking - there is another metaphor that would work with books. In the way your tastes in food or music can change or expand, the same with taste in books. Kinda the same point you made about learning to like new books because of the research you've done

I was recently thinking the same! Taste does change. And there are so many books yet to taste!

I'm just going through some of your videos I missed before I was subscribed. I don't think I necessarily agree entirely about what makes a book great but I do think that it's best when people at least preface that it's simply their opinion before they deliver their list, or at least explain what the qualifications were to make their list if they have an absolute understanding of what is great. Also, I think that it would be interesting to just get a variety of different "top" lists as many of them just play off of one another and list many of the same books. There have been the general "great" books that I've read and thought they definitely were great but I certainly don't always feel that way.

Yes. I agree. There is a sort of 'bandwagonism', for sure. Thanks for the comment!
