My "art" is starting to change (in a good way), Im starting to really take art seriously. Im tired of just copying the work of my favourite artist and feel like I need to create my own style. I already know what I very like to draw : Monsters, warriors, dark fantasy stuff, sci-fi/mech... And honestly you are one of the few artists that I very like, love your videos as always !

if you dont mind asking do u know how to create own style ?
@bobbysmitty16282 жыл бұрын
@@Helloitsgoku Learn the rules and break them. References, references, references. Learning and practicing literal anatomy (life drawing) as well as reading works from people you enjoy will help to create your own style. A good way to diversify styles is by identifying the artists you like, researching the artists they like, then research the artists they liked. You'll eventually start to connect the dots on why styles were chosen and how they evolved. This process might help. Just my input. Good luck.

Hey DD. Wanted to share this with you cause I think it's relevant. Past few months, especially with the slew of AI art, I became obsessed with this thing called "style". That thing we all strive for. To be distinct, to be unique, to be recognized by. I became convinced that that was my way. And that I should strive for it no matter what. And what you said in this video really resonated with me. Pursuit of uniqueness? I think it's a noble thing. But it cannot and should not come at the expense of everything else. My work became devoid of any meaning, of any purpose. It's only purpose was to stand out. But instead of standing on the merit of its strengths, those being the stories it was to tell, it was only standing on what I perceived to be a "unique visual". It wasn't. And I wasn't happy. In the past month, after a straight up month-long break from art, I'm finally starting to draw again. And I realize it's about the drawing capturing a feeling and serving its purpose, as you put it. I've been having more fun doing art again. I'll keep at it.

I didn't know I needed this video. I've already realized I, personally, can't grasp the 'doing art for fun' stage because I still see myself as a beginner. But loving my art can be so hard because I don't use a lot of details or think my line art is poor. But thinking about looking back at my old work from 2 years ago makes me realize I have improved and I don't need to draw like this artist with 10K subs or this group that draws very similar. You've been so inspiring DD, I love it when you do these deep video. Keep up the great work. 👍🏾 PS. YES TO #TEAMJACOB 🐺

A recent anime that exemplifies this message is "Bocchi the Rock" the facial expressions and change in art style isn't necessarily the "best" but the product that is presented is effective. The emotions and the intentions are clear. "They Connect".

Yeah I want my style to be more realistic but at the same time I don't wanna be too realistic (for example, I want varied eye shapes and not same-eye syndrome which most realism has). So even if the purpose is served (ie. portraying despair filled scream or whatnot), if it's not in the "style," I'd consider it a failure in my eyes.

I saw the piece you did for Girl with the Mega Fists, and I recognized your style 😁! Your character drawings always take on a certain underlying edge. Your stuff is edgy to me bro, like idk, The Joker from Batman (not in look but feel lol). Your art is easy enough to understand at a glance, but if you look at it you can identify some deeper layers underneath. I think it reflects characteristics of serious with intent but also comedic and edgy.

What is the "manga look"? That is so subjective. There is manga I could put in front of you, and you may struggle to identify it as "manga". One such example is some works by Osamu Tezuka. I was reading his Princess Knight manga and I literally felt like someone put a throwback Disney fantasy cartoon in my hands. Art is expressive. I think your style is great.
