During a 6+month WestPac deployment in1994, I broke the sheepshead foot blade on my Gerber multitool on U.S.S. Kitty Hawk(CV-63). I mailed the tool back to Gerber and they replaced the blade and sent another sheath. From that day on Gerber had me as a customer for life with their lifetime guarantee.....👍👍👍👍

I’ve broken a leatherman and so has my friend. Both were misused and they repaired them and send them back for free.

I liked the older sog's, had the gear drive for increased grip. Tools were a little harder to pull out but had a full size straight blade, full size serrated and the handles were designed with tools tucked to the inside. So when gripping you grabbed the smooth exterior instead of the slotted/open sides of the handles.

Scissors are a must. I don't know why so many multi-tools forego them. Good pliers, a good screwdriver, good scissors, and maybe a file are what I want/need in a multi-tool. One hand deployment of the pliers is a big bonus.

I prefer the Gerber Multi-Tool. They have an EOD version also. I like the scissors also. The key tools I like on them are the files and the saw. The saw can cut fairly large pieces of wood. The file it comes in hand on getting metal to fit or fixing dings in knife blades. I have that Swiss Army, but I also have the larger Swiss Army. Now that you showed me that new Gerber multi-tool I will have to look into it. Christmas is coming soon. Great Subject and Video!!!!

Thanks for the video Dave! I've used my fair share over the years. I was inspired as I'm sure a lot of us were by the Boy Scouts and MacGyver the Swiss army knife. I have one of the original Gerbers to this day. My personal pick I'd the SOG Powerlock. I carried them on my fire and ems gear, had on my SWAT equipment and dive equipment where they literally saved my life on more than 1 occasion. I carry SOG to this day still as my edc. I passed one of them down to my son who uses it everyday as well!

Swiss and leatherman perfect combo for min tool kit. Tweezers and scissors of a swiss..even if just key chain version plus pliers and screwdriver of the leatherman worth there weight. Leatherman with diamond/double cut file are also valuable..from a tradesman perspective.

Generally, if I didn’t like a video, I’ll block the creator and not give anymore clout to the thing I didn’t like. But these guys are cool so I’ll make an exception in this case. They didn’t answer their premise of what makes a good multi tool. They talked about a handful of multi tools, but they never specifically said “this is what defines a multi tool as being good or bad.” When your video is based on a question, answering the question becomes essential to the video. They’ve failed to fulfill the purpose of the video.

I EDC a tru utility fixr and gear infusion everratchet now but I keep a Leatherman wave in my bag also. I had a Gerber dime and used it some before It broke I didn't bother getting a replacement but I picked up one of their little Gerber curve multitools and it's great for being small.

I'm in the UK so you have to be careful where you have locking blade's. I have my multi-tool cycling so have had to go with non locking bladed options. The Leatherman Bond has been brilliant for me. Pretty compact and very well made, all the tools work. Like a Victorinox too.

4:10 the scissors and knife on the leatherman wingman are on the outside when it's folded up 😅 that's kinda why I picked it to carry for the past decade or so My Swiss army knife is the slimmest one with 1 blade and 1 bottle opener/combination tool 👍 very sleek

I used to carry a cheap multi-tool until I read the heroic story about Aron Ralston having to use a cheap multi-tool to save his life by amputating his own arm. Since then I've carried better tools and made sure they were sharp. I hope to never need it in the way that man did, not sure I could grow big enough eggs to even attempt it. (I do like the spring loaded pliers and the extra reach on the bit driver is definitely useful.)

None. Only normal tools are worth it. Otherwise a Swiss army knife... Or carry the specific tools with you for your gun (Taking appart a glock = 0 tools...).
