Well cared for historic buildings, maintaining authentic materials. For example, no upvc or aluminium windows in domestic buildings. Plus interesting topography, cleanliness, views of natural landscapes and seascapes. Lack of intrusive signage and wire runs. Little traffic.

Alex, I have always considered you an informed observer but now I must add philosopher to your credentials. BRAVO.

Thank you! Although in a way I reckon we're all philosophers - I think therefore I am, and all that!

This is precisely the heart and soul of why I treasure history and ancient architecture. Genuinely you brought a tear to my eye. These days buildings are bland, cheaply constructed, music has had its soul auto tuned out of it, and cars are overly plastic rolling computers.

That's kind of you to say, thanks! And I agree, particularly about music. Thank goodness for recordings from certain past decades, at least!

The individuality of towns has lessened greatly in my life time. I have relatives who travelled in the pre-motorway world, and still orientate other people's journeys by A-roads and market towns long since bypassed. A mental map of chequered pre-Worboys road signs and municipally planted roundabouts, where Scotch Corner, the East Lancs, Gailey and Western Avenue still have currency. Most attractive British towns are better known as somewhere else in the motion picture world. We have become a backdrop.

I had a déjà vu moment at 4:29. It feels so familiar. Could you please tell me what town that is?
@AlexinGreatBritain9 ай бұрын
Of course, it's Amersham.

Thanks. I was there about 10 years ago. I remember that across the road, there are some houses with very small doors. :) It's a lovely part of the country. Thanks for the video.

To my mind Brighton is the most beautiful City in the world- but I’m biased and isn’t beauty is in the eye 👁️ of the beholder?! 😂

It is? Wait, let me go on Google Street View and crunch the numbers... :D

Why not name the actual towns, for Christ's sake?
