An effective Programmer : 1. It's about how smartly you program. 2. It's about how well you learn. 3. It's about customer service. Thank You. 🙏

Excellent resource, I'm in my third year of computer science and I still don't know how to program, I know the concepts but it's hard for me to get by when it comes to programming, maybe it's normal or not, I hope you can help me with a little bit of your stories and get to know you better, especially the experienced ones, to clarify doubts.

I'm like you so I especially like the third one particularly. I used to write Perl and HTML and CSS for a hospital system a while back. For several years I've been working as a data reporter for another company and now I'm an interface analyst working in system architecture for another. I'd like to actually dive into data science full bore, so these talks really are going to help out a lot. Thanks again for a job well-done. Very relatable.

Graphic Designer here, how different is HTML Email and regular email?
@ieuancare945
@ieuancare945 2 жыл бұрын
hiya, I hope this answer is still useful after 8 months... regular email would be writing in Gmail or Outlook, whereas HTML email would mean you have much stronger editorial control in creating a template, resizing text, inserting videos, images, and other rich content but it would be a lot more work. A solution mid way which is very popular would be a service like MailChimp where you use a pre-programmed template that has a friendly user interface which is quick to learn but gives the user a deeper degree of editorial control than writing an e-mail in Outlook, or Gmail without overwhelming them with two much choice and coding writing in HTML. This answer is on the assumption that it's a newsletter or mass mail, not an everday e-mail to a person or a small group.

I'd say don't do it if you don't think it's cool at all. You have to like something at least a little bit to devote tons of time into it. However, coming from a guy who's loved art his whole life, sometimes you really gotta stop chasing happiness and just work towards what needs to get done (which will end up making you more happy anyway). Programming is an extremely valuable skill that can help you tremendously if you learn it, and if you think those rewards (money) are valuable and needed in your life, go for it. That said, don't abandon your real passions entirely; you gotta have a balance imo.

@@pocnit 1. Am a muslim - i don't gamble. Gambiling is an abomination developed by the devil. 2. Would you call your mother a bitch? don't be distrespectfull to women - they are our better halfs. I know women programmers who code better than guys. 3. the chance of winning a lottery is 1 in 13.9 billion. You have more chance of being hit by lightening twice. You need to flip the script and find your destiny.

Thank you! My dad started as a keypunch operator, and eventually became a systems manager for his company. He had no patience for those on his staff who complained about "stupid users." My dad knew that his department was there SOLELY to serve the needs of the users! His best people knew that, and honestly, it made them better programmers.

So I have a question that probably won't be answered. In number two, the speaker mentioned what makes an effective web developer. Keeping up with ever growing changes (learning well). BUT aren't some of those changes made by big teams that knew the basics really well, got a bit fed up with doing things they were doing and made their own thing? Like React was made by facebook, go was made by google, swift was made by apple, etc. Each of those huge tech companies made those things to meet their specific needs, but they had to make it from scratch from lower level languages. So wouldn't having very super strong fundamentals of HTML, CSS, JS be extreamly beneficial? Like if someone kinda understands JS and decides to start working with react, while I know zero react but I'm a wizard in JS, wouldn't I have a HUUUUUUUGE advantage? It seems to me that I would.

wOW .. HERE to learn Ruby. Your info here is great for someone in High School or Junior High.. that has never worked for a living. Social skills are now a desert in our Public School System. I dropped out and have had multiple successful businesses due to such required learning .. .on the job and by failures. Failures are not allowed in Public Education.. memorizing answers to " tests " and taking your money is what all education is today. Thanks for the insight into your life... but not interested or helpful in Coding.
Which programming language should you choose?
