The game loop is addictive, and the constant promise of better loot is what makes the game so compelling. Can't wait for release. I managed to unlock the skeleton skin during the last play test. As a solo player, I still survived a lot.

The game is better than ever right now, especially for new players, core gameplay loop is still compelling, fairly balanced class variety, skins are kept through wipes(always have been), and extracting is pretty easy as a solo. If you're talking about release, they are constantly adding new content, improving the game and listening to the community. At this point (especially post-steam release) an official release would merely be a formality. This game already has a lot of replay value. A game like this is going to constantly evolve and have zero regrets in my purchase. It's the go-to game to play with my friends. You kinda just seem like a hater, ngl. There are legitimate things to criticize the game for and rarely do comments like yours carry weight or merit. The game really doesn't deserve it, nor do the devs 🫤

The most fun I had with the game was being a solo player and out classing trios most new players don't know yet but the game gives a lot of tools to solo players to one of the biggest its the darkness , I think this is something that with time and no changes will make the player base adjust and enjoy the tense moments . My biggest hate against solo q will be the rushers and lack of tense moments in the game turning out like a slow mordhau for those good with movement that just run and shred every thing

I started playing on the last 2 days of the test #2 and I played solo barb, oh boy I cried like a baby. The 1v3 just sucked. Then the test #3 happened, I picked up some friends and it was a lot more fun. But I relized someting about playing with 2 other people was kinda off, I had to split the loot, help them fight mobs and stuff. AND THEN I WENT SOLO ROGUEE BRRRRRRR and that was the most fun I ever had. In most cases (only if u have balls) You can take the 1v2 or even 1v3. I figured as a solo played the Dark in Dark and Darker is my friend. I always extinguished every torch and played around my invisibility cd. Simply Invis, w8 for two of them to pass you, stab the 3rd guy to death, run to the dark w8 for invis cd and repeat. Had a great time 10/10 and no friends = more loot for myself

@@PaintDropMVP Someone told me that wizard is the better rogue and it stuck, I watched a killer wizard stream and got off my rogue main to become a wizard main solo, and it was the most fun I had. It takes restraint to slow your roll like a proper rogue but the wizard kit is so freaking good.

I played solo on all the characters a lot, and enjoyed barb the most. Have 2 1v3's under my belt, and almost all pve is easily soloable with your damage and especially the fear ability

The key thing when asmon was mentioning the "inconveniences" is that they make sense. There are choices you make, and while some of them are required (like time gated door opening, picking chests, putting loot on, etc.), they make sense and alot of times its a trade off for a tactical advantage. Nearly every inconvenience can be taken advantage of with the right class, and because of this, each class feels fresh and unique to play with.

Anyone with the slightest understanding of how combat in games should work (and has a bit of experience being competitive), knows that this game is completely dead in the water if it remains that slow and clunky style - and last i remember the devs aren't too keen on overhauling it (hope I am wrong though). It's a damn shame because the game concept is pretty cool.

@@imtoxicAF Dude, The game is not just slow, it's slow AF. I understand the casting time of a 2-h weapon may be slower than the 1-h weapon but... THE TIME that is takes to SWING the weapon, looks like you're caressing the opponent with it. The block mechanic is bugged but it can be fixed easily. They should add parry with shield, 1h and 2h weapons (claking swords is real so... why not include it to the game? that's a flaw). They should adopt the Chivalry combat-style IMO. Also, Stabbing someone IN THE FACE with a poisoned dagger should not deal 19 dmg and like 24 from the back of the head, lol. Headshots with daggers should deal atleast 3x or more (but 3x is OK given the attack speed of the weapon) .

@@D3cadent1 I think your missing out. Theres some primal synapses of slapping some enemies till they ragdoll. My only complaint. Nerf Ranger Traps, make it where you can throw your torch at it to trigger it. That way your not hugging the fuck out of it hitbox to avoid it.

The solo play aspect was one of the major reasons Everquest players flocked to Warcraft. Actually being able to accomplish something in game beyond lvl 10 by yourself after your friends logged off for the night was a vast difference between WoW and EQ. While a few classes in EQ could solo to some extent, that left out the majority of the player base.

Asmond your question on "what the reason to not have a 1v1's only option is because it would kill the game. There are a lot of great battle royale's (aka h1z1) that were destroyed by this option. People would forget about groups and do solo only because they think its cool "The Fad" and get bored with the game entirely resulting in you not getting your moneys worth when you do buy the game????? REASONS TO KEEP 3v3- 1: as a solo player, groups of 3 in your lobby clear rooms faster making mobs eaiser to go through the map after even if you're solo. 2: Solo only would change ppl into campers, *resulting in less fights*. 3: More players would die to mobs resulting in my previous statement. 4: Less groups would excape the map because the group helps each other get all blue portals, if not take red. 5: As a solo it is impossible to finish the 2nd stage (red portal) and there would 100% be less blues resulting in your loot being lossed. I could think of more reasons those are the main reasons why for me. It's a different game from other BR's and I think the devs took most of the things that ruined other games thats why this one is so addictive..

To answer the question on what the argument against solo queue is. IMO solo queue would be a place for the best players to freely farm loot with little competition compared to fighting even a "decent 3 man" and potentially losing. It would cause market changes since solo play would be easier to farm than normal queue. The game is balanced around team play stated by the devs so some players will complain about solo balancing. Bossing would be near impossible for majority solo queue. Likely what would happen is they add solo queue it it becomes a 16 rouge rat off whoever can rat the hardest and stuff the pockets the most wins. Solo queue just seems like a cop out for players who arent willing to adjust to difficulty. The games 1vX factor is the main thing that keeps you on your toes, you hear foot steps u then have to think about everything before you make a choice. How many are there? How geared? Wheres my escape? ETC but in solo queue u hear foot steps u run at them bc its 1v1 and thats that. I think solo takes away alot of the core that makes the game fun. Its your choice to meet people and play in a 3 man if u want or to queue in solo knowing u can be against multiple players. When someone says "get good" its not just a matter of winning a 1v3 its game sense, knowing ur escapes, knowing when to run knowing when to fight. Its like do you think a wow raid would have the same effect if they just let you solo it? Just my thoughts on that topic.

As a solo and team player, I don't want to see a solo que. However, I would love that if you que solo, it would prioritize solo players first, duo's second and lastly trio's, but not a full prioritization if that makes sense. I still want to see duo's and trio's, just slightly less of them if I que solo. I don't want a separate que button at all though, just for the game to recognize there's only 1 of me, so it takes a few extra seconds to fill some parameters to start my match. Also, a solo only que I think would be detrimental. I witnessed and high amount of teaming from solo players. Players give a small tbag, then explore the dungeon together. And since they were together, less players wanted to fight them, so they just got fully looted and left safely. I think it's way too easy to take advantage of unfortunately, that's why I prefer the method I listed above.

In my opinion solo queue is not necessary because in the current state of the game playing solo just means having a different playstyle than group players. The objective of the game is to get loot and escape, not to kill everyone you encounter, so while playing solo you should be more aware of your surroundings and make decisions whether to take some fights where you are at a disadvantage or not to do it. If you are seeing yourself as a solo killing machine attacking everyone you see you are guaranteed to encounter unwinnable fight, but sometimes the decision to attack a group of 3 as a solo player is akin to attacking Fel Reaver when you are leveling in Hellfire Peninsula. If you play solo you should avoid groups and attacks them only when you have a factor of surprise on ur side, for example, when the party is fighting with monsters or with another group of players and i think that goes for every class.

Idk i feel like solo que was actually less aggressive then the other cuz the thing is when 3 player see a solo they will pretty much always try to go and chase them down cuz they know they have an advantage unless the solo player has really good gear or beyond skillful. But when a solo bumps into another solo its lot more riskier for them to take eachother on so either try avoid eachother or they team up at least that has been my experience with it so far.

The people that defend 3 man squads are the same type of people that would despise only ever fighting against 3 man squads. I think the issue with 3 man squads is it disincentives solo players to wear cool/powerful gear they find. Solo players have a higher chance of dying because power by numbers can dictate unwinnable circumstances. If I get a super awesome purp wep, I want to wear it right away, but then I'm taken back by the thought that a 3 man squad can screw me out of this cool item more than anything else can. Unless I'm saturated in gold/items if I die, I'm basically always forced to run away from 3 man squads. Where as, in a group of 3 you are far more loot protected because you have teammates to power in numbers smaller groups, and they can grab your gear/rez you. I'm just spit balling ideas, but it might be more fair for solo/duo's to have their game mode, and something a little spicier for group play with friends, like a 3's or 5's on larger more dangerous maps. A solo player can at least potentially quick kill someone in a 2 man squad and be left in a 1v1, making it far more fair than a 2v1 if it were a party of 3. 3 mans is my tipping point of fairness, otherwise they might as well make the entire thing forced groups imo. We can agree to disagree on this. I don't need to argue hate comments saying this is a terrible idea.

If every barb axe that dropped has good or useful stats it would devalue all of them. Maybe they'll remove modifiers like this from the loot table for barb weapons or w/e but this isn't even really relevant to the comment i made so *shrug*

I played Barbarian. THere was one rogue who ran away from me, but I had an axe and destroyed the doors between me and him. It was fun just smashing through every door he closed in front of me and him just giving up when he had nowhere to run. Or when another rogue shanked me 4 times, i screamed for help from my team, one shotted the rogue and went: "Or maybe I dont need help. Nevermind." 33:19: YOu just hear " I AM THE STORM THAT IS APPROACHING!" very loudly when youre close.

Y'all seriously sleeping on the cleric. The prayer skill can literally wipe an entire room of zombies and mummies and bats with enough magical power. Bats just die with a naked loadout. I was swimming in gear and cash as cleric because I never died, kept finding good melee gear, and PvE was essentially nullified until I went down a level. It was only High Roller and going down a level that gave me any challenge as cleric. It's basically McConnels version of a paladin.

Ironmace has said that the game is designed for a mix of players per match. For solos they are aiming for what they call "Rat Gameplay" with hiding and using the darkness to do sneak attacks. you are not meant to fight a 3v1 if you do not want to (use your ears), duos are there to shake up on both ends where trios have way more of a challenge to fight then a solo but a solo could still take out the duo. The portals at the end were another point they made that the 3 person exit and deep portals do not show up until the end so the party is made to split to get out/down or having to fight everyone on the path to the 3 person portal. Again this is not my opinion this is what Ironmace has said in post when asked about solo queue.

My opinion on the matter is that it does suck to not have a solo queue while having to play scared anytime you see a person that 2 others could be right behind them but in this game there is so much you can do to set yourself up for success when faced with 3 players solo, leaving multiple doors open so you can run into one to mislead them while you go the other way. getting your first exit is super big as having money changes the way you can play. Bringing in potions makes a 1v3 feel like a 2v3 or even a 3v3 if you have better gear as well. I also believe High roller is a great way to keep really good players away from newer players of cores they will still overlap but most people with a group that is even half good should be going to high roller for the better chance at gear and more fun fights. They have stated that they want to encourage rat gameplay more but I don't know how they would do that without making the people that are taking 1v3s as often as possible even stronger. Maybe giving you an extra heal or two for free or even a invis potion as that would help with the rat like part of it. Sucks to not have solo queue but they are making one hell of a game out of it imma just let them cook.

A duo and a trio is simple multiple soloplayers collaborating to get an unfair advantage over the soloplayer. A trio can also use "rat gameplay" to a much more effective degree because they can combo someone out from the darkness. They also have 6 ears rather than 2 so can make out sounds better. There is literally no point of playing this game solo so it is going to die a horrible death in the longterm unless they release soloqueue because group focused games may have worked in the early 2000 but not in the current year.

the reason people think a solo queue will be bad is 2 things. 1. they think most players play solo so them playing 2 and 3 man team = harder to get in a match. 2. i would say about 50% of the people teaming get off on killing solos. they actively look for them and go for the solo kills. while other teams see a solo and let them run away, as logic that 1 guy is going to do nothing but maybe kill 1-2 of you then give you very little amount of loot. but again a good part of the community of all these games look for solos to kill them.

Having too many queue types can really slow matchmaking down, but if there are enough people playing then I can't see it being an issue, but it's an argument against solo queue. I played mostly solo, and I actually had the best luck as a barbarian because I could drop monsters quick only wizards and rangers were really an issue. I played every class up to 15 so I could check out all the skills/perks/spells

The Solo queue debate is one that really interests me. I've personally been playing solo as barbarian and having a blast running around smashing open chests. What people don't understand is that looting a big treasure room solo will give you 3x the loot of a trio (assuming loot is shared equally), allowing you to obtain gear that is much more powerful than that of an individual group member at early game (however groups that manage to fight bosses or big rooms uninterrupted often become very rich). Barbarian also has a perk that gives him a decent chunk of health when he kills a player, meaning he can get up to 40% of his large health back during a 3v1 fight and still be in a decent state if he wins, as well as a perk that gives him a quick health/damage boost for 4 seconds after killing any enemy. When you look at other classes, you will actually find a lot of perks or abilities that can give you a fighting chance against groups, not to mention the fact you can interrupt a group that is busy fighting enemies, using them to your advantage. Solo play WILL reward patience and intelligence, unlike group play. Altars are also designed specifically to benefit solo players. There is an area with a damage and damage resistance altar beside eachother. With these both activated, I almost managed to wipe out a trio on my own simply by rushing in and yelling, no tactics required. The effect also seemed to have wore off shortly after the fight started.

There probably needs to be more things to benefit solo players, since the only loot protection in the game is having a full squad. Solo players don't get the same luxery so they often don't use their good items till they are grouped. It feels very bad to have on really good gear when your playing solo because the odds are greatly stacked against you.

@@cromperer Personally, I find it better to economy most runs w/ bad gear when playing solo because you have no loot protection unless in a group. Sure I can 1 tap people with no gear, but will always lose to a decked out 3 man squad zerging me down/camping zone on me. The risk isn't worth the reward, and I can come out just as much ahead with sub par gear, and avoid the heavy losses to douche bag 3 mans W keying for minutes on end.

So as a guy that has had over 110+ hours in the playtests as solo and duo and trio I can say that the game is as fun as all get out. Now I do have to state something. The extraction shooter genre is known for not really having solo ques and it most of the time for not only the challenge but for que times as well since it's not the most popular genre. The devs stated that their willing to try many different things besides solo ques as it's not in the game plan. I would suggest making going solo more rewarding with having a increased drop rate of some form or making it so after escaping the vendors buy everything on your body that you escaped with for double the amount to help mitigate the grind as much (even though I was personally doing fine with gold). It would be to help the new players trying it solo to build a stash and feel more rewarding as a result. Quick tip is to play like a rat and around 6 out of 10 runs you make it out trust me. Also if you took the time to read this your a legend thank you.

I missed the play test but I can't wait to get a chance to play this. I never got into Escape from Tarkov but I love the idea of Tarkov in a classic fantasy dungeon delve, it also reminds me of Ultima Underworld which is great.

played tarkov for a year, played Dark and Darker for only 2 days and while i love tarkov for the gun-porn part, ive got to say Dark and Darker with my older brother was an amazing time and the time of match, que time and overall play time was quick and simple to engage in, that made the experience Very smooth. idk if thats just the hype of the game, but every raid was a blast in Dark and Darker, even when my brother split my head with his battle axe on accident I was excited to see it happen LOL as a duo que we would come across solo barbs or solo rouges and helped them escape, even if we ended up dying for our effort by the storm or mobs while we protected the solo... i think we helped at least 15 people get out in our only 2 days of playing and every time it felt like we were heros in someones story. I never went into a down Red portal, but GOD i wish i did. I cant wait to experience that...

Having solo que for the main map would actually make it harder, because people will STILL group up but it would be more random... which means they are also more likely to turn on your near the extraction.

Dark and Darker is special and I hope the devs don't change that much it was a really good playtest #3 and they have to be careful. What everyone wants is not for the long run. @@killerbas40 I stopped playing the game about 2 months after they released it. I dunno why i even bought it. I played 4 playtests then when the game came out, spent so much time trying to find a team every match, no one wants to play more than 1 match and dip, its a team based game, solos is boring as shet there is no reason to do that id rather literally play monopoly free online and talk to people than solo dark for 30 mins not talking to anyone it kind of kills the game. The community is not toxic compared to other games like cs2 but people in dark dont stick around all day for 6+ hours with you like in the playtests they legit dip after 1 round and go play solos like why man im not grinding gear for myself or for new people every time and spending more time trying to find a team than actually playing like NO! base gear is the best anyways everyone turns into an A**hole after they get 1 item bro f*** that game

EVE Online's combat was an amazing excersize in combat game design because of microadjustments. It was basically turn based and you tweaked things on and off, boosts, move position, adjust orbit, expand orbit, stop, line up warp, run away... etc. I have never quite found another game that replicated that feeling in any way but deeply hunger for it.

Be me: Find out about the existence of the game really hyped to play it, find out the playtest ended a few hours ago. A few days go by and I keep seeing content of the game pop up on youtube wondering how people still have so much content about the game when the playtest ended 2-3 days ago but not thinking any further into it. Finally decide to check if the game is playable: The extended playtest ended today. FUCK ME HHAAHAH I wish I had the chance to play it. Hoping for another playtest soon.

Just two words: Friendlyfire. Fireball. Yes, I was the Wizard. >:^D How to make a team of three work: 1. Make a rotation in which you establish who escapes first. P1 goes the first round, next round P2, etc. Have a rogue or ranger open the portal for the wizard etc. 2. You can just press shift and you walk slowly. That muffels nearly all your steps, and if you crouch additionally then no one can actually hear you.

I hope they stick with what they got going so far and don't listen to players whining about combat feeling too slow or that pve is too hard/mobs take too many hits to kill. I've played about 80hrs in total (all which of were from playtest #3) and i think i mastered pve about 20-30hrs into the game with all of the 4 classes i've played with. It's not that hard to get a grip off of their attack patterns/learn how many hits you can dash out before you get hit. It just comes down to patience and the people that complain about it are probably cod kids that are used to crackhead fast paced games. You can easily do no hit runs with enough patience, besides skeleton archers which are kinda busted ngl. Sometimes you manage to strafe their shots but others they just aimbot you regardless. Also the devs clearly aimed for the feel it currently has, the slow combat and even the jankiness (to some degree) is part of this games identity imo. About soloq - i think it should be considered down the path for sure, but right now i see no issue with it. The average player or group of 3 isn't good enough yet for it to become a problem as a solo, but over time with people sweating the game it will become more competitive and the average skill lvl will increase just like with most games which will make soloq a lot more difficult. Wizard definitely needs to be tuned down, the plays that are already being pulled off and you can do as a solo wiz are insane, barb is also really strong unless you go up against a skilled wiz or ranger, a geared rogue could also easily take down a barb. Rogues are really gear dependent, using the regular dagger feels miserable. Personally i don't see the appeal in soloq, what makes pvp so fun currently is not knowing how many people you are fighting, the unknown makes it so much more appealing and exciting/a lot more strategies and baiting can be done too. Also as a solo you always have pve on your side, tight corridors where you can fight 1 by 1, traps, darkness. There is so much just in the environment alone you can make use off, which benefits solo more than a 3stack does. So i think right now it is balanced and you don't even need to be cracked out at the game to make it out alive as a solo or even get some kills in the process. You just need to have the knowledge to use everything thats available in the environment and the pve to your advantage and be smart. I managed to lose a 3stack that chased me just with the poison zombies alone by aggroing them and making them throw up their poison clouds and bodyblocking for me at the doors so they couldn't keep chasing me. The player count is also fine as is right now, too many players and it will be too much for the current map size and it will also lose its dnd feeling and will feel more like an actual br game which would suck imo.

Best solo is definitely rogue. Best duo is definitely fighter and cleric. Fighter has ranged and melee options. Cleric is busted with a good fighter on your team. Then barbarian is a good addition to that duo.

Fun game, every thing played well together and I can't wait to play next test or full release. Both playing with friends and without was fun but since most lobbies had 3 stacks and you can't search for solo games, I tried getting a full team when possible

Probably one of the biggest problems with the solo queue is that almost everyone is going to play with rogue and it will get frustrating to deal with the amount of ambushes since it's almost always a insta kill

Exactly, solo queue, just like with most other team games with classes, heros, champions (whatever they're called), will always have massive discrepancy in pick rates. DnD would be rogue city, apex was octane/pathfinder mania, overwatch in free for all is just dps characters, and its not really the greatest thing to have classes that are just not picked at all in certain game modes.

i would love a custom ui that gave me the the same hud as something like diablo 2 and hopefully they open up the world so you are in troll tunnels and caves and all sorts of other scenes not jus a stone dungeon but from the two playtests i have played i have loved every second of it and its nice to see the devs are so transparent on what is goin on.

The darkness WILL kill you if you're in it too long regardless of your HP btw. After a certain point it becomes instakill, reset it by sticking to the circle edge and diving in and out. On the note of speed the slow gameplay is a big plus to me in contrast to a lot of modern titles feeling like you need to be methed up to just keep up.

its easier to play solo in normal Q than it would it be in solo Q. Solo Q would be 100 times more PvP intense, you would have PvP in 1st min after leaving spawn as it would be guaranteed you have players in spawns next to you and most likely many of them will just rush to attack others. Maps I think has exactly 16 spawn points (didn't count), and each team makes some vacant spots so you have more time for loot and pve before you meet other players. And if you see group of 3, you can usually easy run away as solo. I died more often to solo players than to groups.

I'm 19 years old, and this game reignited my passion for games. Growing growing up on basically 3 to 4 main games like modern warfare 2 and 3, minecraft, and more recently Sekiro, compared to countless less played games (a few months top spent in them) this game has rekindled the dampened fire that I have had for video games in general over the past 4-5 years. For anyone like me who usually just watches other people play games because we don't want to bother, or we think we are already so behind in skill development, please give this game a chance next playtest as I have.

Dark and Darker has been absolutely amazing. The one aspect that needs to be fixed, is how blatantly overpowered new weapons are. The difference in damage from a wizards magic missles from a staff, to a new good book is astromical. From 12 per missle go 20 or more. Whats worse, barbs going from 35 damage per swing to 75 or more. Rogues are op because of daggers increadible dps and movespeed. You can't escape them and if they have a good weapon they hit 50 or 60 per stab 3 times a second, while a lvl 1 barb hits 35 per 2 second swing. The dps is just so high on rogues that every other class has to 1 shot them. Because + defense/damage reduction or + health is so much more rare than just a green or blue or purple or orange weapon drop. I need 6 or 7 blues armors with damage reduction to negate the dps gap of 1 white weapon vs 1 blue. Going from 16 damage an archer shot to 45 per longbow or 75 per crossbow is just rediculous when compaired to 2% damage reduction to the blues 4% .

Well even if apex (as an example) was designed with teams of 3 in mind, the people that want to play alone shouldn't be punished. And they aren't, because the game allows solos to kill squads just as easily as vice versa. Dark and darker needs to do the same, having more tools for solo players to win at a disadvantage. I mean even the games the combat system is closely related to (chivalry and mordhau) is very possible to win against multiple opponents, why cant this one do the same?

@@dooddoingstuff well these are very different games, this one has wizards and rouges along with generally being slower pace. Another problem with what u recommend is the size of the development team. With their relatively small size they need to focus on certain aspects of the game and I as well as many others have solo que low on that list. Unlike apex this development team is small. Also adding different ques splits the player base which is a bigger deal on an indie game.

@asmon Having a solo-queue splits the player base and does multiple things. 1. It will slow down queues, although if enough people are playing this might not actually change much. 2. It can drastically alter the economy with the amount of gear coming out of raids. 3. Most importantly, it can wholly and utterly change class balance. Now the Devs have to be concerned with balance in an entire mode the game wasn't designed around. They can either mess up the existing, very delicate balance, or completely ignore solo balance which can lead to incredibly bad gameplay and toxic metas, which in turn effect point#2. Game was designed from the ground up around Team play. Adding solo-queue is a very bad idea. As is right now, it's 100% viable to play any class as a Solo player and thrive. You might even be able to team up with randoms in the dungeon. It's great now and adding a solo-queue would only serve the Devs setting themselves up for failure. Risk is not worth the reward. I play Solo.

@@gamax1376 also, their brew master perk allows them to only have the benefits of drinking beer, boosting their speed and damage on top of all the other buffs they can have on top; basically, if you are looking to make damage, you can build your cleric into a paladin

Yep, cleric is the best class against mobs, having a perk that deals extra damage to undead, a spell that deals burst damage to monsters in a large area and just having healing to sustain pve damage.

There is one VERY important drawback of having "solo queue only" which is perhaps one of the biggest advantages this game has, the super short queue times. The queue time for groups is going to sky rocket, also there is a pretty good chance this solo only rooms is going to play out very differently and perhaps not for the best.

I like the guy who said "its boring" then dont play solo LOL. Just because it's there doesn't mean you have to play it. If Hunt:Showdown has shown anything it's that a forced queue of a party makeup of 1-3 people in aa lobby of 16 people can work, you just have to know what to look for. In DaD you keep track of the kill feed. See how many people are dying and figure out how many are left. It's something BR games and even Tarkov does except in Tarkov you have to body count yourself as there is no feed or HUD telling you. I've been having a blast as a solo. Sure I can't hold W and walk into any room with confidence but as a Rogue I make it a point to keep track every corner, trap, etc I'm in and in previous rooms. I turn off all the lights I pass by to give myself a little bit of advantage. Then know when to use your stealth either as an opener or when to save it after a kill so you can reset. I've been able to quickly take care of annoying front lines like Knights or Barbs and run back into the cover of darkness and using stealth after breaking LoS or mixed with sneak to quickly out maneuver someone and get a bonus in damage with Ambush and finish the rest of the team. Seriously use the main feature of the game: The Dark. When it's dark, it's friggen dark. You legit need your torch. So use that to your advantage. Not enough people utilize this and may not even know that this is a proper strategy ESPECIALLY when you're solo. This isn't just for Rogues either. That visual advantage allows you as a Barb to come out of the shadows mid swing giving them less time to react, gives Rangers cover by hiding their silhouette as they pop off arrows or lead them to a pre trapped room, Wizard maybe doesn't benefit as much but it does make it a little harder to spot your character even midcast, but you get the point. And eventually when you learn the maps enough and can remember the layout of each room you can use the static monster spawns as a way to escape when things go south.

Maybe it was because I solo'd as ranger, but I frequently found myself easily managing most confrontations with both monsters and players. Sometimes While I solo I would get caught out by a team, but the majority of the time I found that I had a much higher escape rate while playing the game solo verses with a team. On top of this, YOU GET WAY MORE LOOT. Like, literally 3 times the loot because you don't have to share. Also, the spear was disgusting late game. Barbs go down in 3 hits and you are faster on top of having a range advantage even in melee. Poking heads over shields was fun. I don't see why people can't have their solo player lobbies, but I myself would likely never que for it because the feeling of team wiping as a solo is next to nothing else in the game. Fundamentally I prefer if the game is balanced for teams because that is what I think would make for a more interesting experience myself. The best part of this game though? Definitely being a filthy rat who's only mission is to make others have a bad time and not making survival a priority.

Just get good baldy. The guy from the video himself said it. Being solo is actually advantageous. And i can confirm it. Is really easy to spot teams as a solo player. Also teams most of the time never get the opportunity to extract everyone out. Many times ive been killed by teams and the noise of the fight attract other teams and every one gets killed in the process and the last one is so badly injured that he gets killed by the fog or trap. I also think that solo players will get insane at the game way faster than lousy teamers. I was dropping teams left and right as solo barb and getting many extractions.

If solo queue exist, players will inevitably demand that the whole game be balanced around it, which would pretty much ruin team play. The only way to make it work would be to balance both solo and team queues separately, but that's not really a viable option.

I prefer mixed queue as a solo player. I like the variety of never knowing what kind squad or solo engagement I am going to get into next. If they split it, even if you are technically allowed to queue into non solo queue as solo, it going to realistically create a big divide where solo is just solo, and team is nearly all (or mind as well be) all 3, and kill that variety for me. That variety is important to me weather im playing solo or at a team at the time. I think I am in the minority, but I would like the game substantially less with a solo queue implemented.

i tried to group with randoms and they killed me for my crystal sword because the wizard on their team decided it was his, wizard hit me with a fireball and his barb friend noticed his friends plan and decided to slice my noggin in half, from behind :c i was a cleric, i just wanted to help XD didnt try to join a group after that, but i mean, it sounds like it should be a good option for people who dont have friends interested in the game, especially since solo que wasnt added (yet)

thing about everyone wanting solo is if they cave for the cry babys it changes the whole experience of the game the whole game changes then its no longer dark and darker. everyone plays totally different because they know that anyone they come across is solo. people wouldnt play safe sneaky like they do now. the whole mechanics of the game would change the whole playstyle of how people go into the dungeons would change. I completely understand why they are trying their best to avoid adding solo que and trying to just balance the games by mixing teams and duos and solos all together. If solos were added it would be played totally different and they would have to have a separate group balancing for solo and groups. basically creating two games side by side. makes more sense to just stick to what they are doing. and what they WANT to do. because they made this game that so many people love. let them finish it. if you dont like it go make your own game. basically everyone who wants solo doesnt want to learn the game they want the devs to build the game around their play style. just go play another game.

The argument get good on 3v1 is that those are three v players who like ganking one player and know that if they have to fight three players all the time they would lose. And technically they think of 1V players is loot pinatas so they have easier time collecting loot.

That's like saying that everytime you attempt to do something there should be a roll of dice to determine whether you can or cannot do it. Or even worse a bad roll gets you in an even worse position. @@hereticmantra solo queue is the best and easiest solution when the main complaint is getting killed in an unwinnable battle by three stacks (and please don't use bad three stacks as a counter argument.) If it was just about getting killed at all you would make some sense. But it clearly isn't. A solo q map would be the best solution while also making good party finding systems and adding incentives to queuing in the main queue even as a solo.

@@hereticmantra the queues would barely change with the numbers they pull and likely more potential players with solo queue. Maybe a few seconds but it is fast enough that it hardly matters. Again better or more frequent rewards for the multi queue in comparison to solo q incentives going to multi q even as a solo. Balancing pve for solo isn't that hard. Maybe reduce health and damage a little, or simply less monsters which also means less loot. All of these mean the game spreads and stays with a wider audience. Maybe if they had more variance to the combat then solo q would not need to be made, but as it stands it is a big requirement if they want to retain players over a longer period of time.

Games needs to be tailored around solo player with optional group play or it will not retain players in the longterm. Group focused games may have worked in the late 90's and early 2000 but not nowadays.

I think the storm would be better if it wasn’t a circle. And instead was rooms collapsing over time. Paths and places would get cut off while you’re exploring, it can kill you, and it physically stops you from going into those rooms, feel like that would be cool.

i liked playing the cleric alot and my friend played ranger , it was really fun. I personally think in the right hands the Ranger is literally the best class

The reason why most people don't want a solo queue added is two fold: 1. They only play with friends, 2. they're average gamers at best. This means that the majority of the time when they run into other parties of equal size they're going to sustain heavy losses if not get wiped. Where as if they run into a solo they have the best chance at getting free lot. The majority of the ' average' player base doesn't want to take away the chance for them to get lucky and stumble across someone who they can actually kill because they don't win pvp in any other situation.

Solo que could lead to a death spiral where only the best get all the loot, while other people just get frustraited and leave. Parties have more of a randomness element in fights. Although I would try to implement a solo que (with lesser loot) and see what happens

@@IndicatedGoodLife Solo queue is literally exactly the same as parties. If there is potential for only the best to get loot with solo queue its amplified with parties, because the more good players you have on your team the LESS RNG there is. Even if you're amazing if you're solo and you make one mistake you can still die, but if you're in a party with a nutty cleric also for instance then they can easily bail you out. Soloqueue adds more RNG to individual fights not less.

If we were just talking about queueing into a team of 3 or 5 random players or whatever I would agree with you, but that's not what we're talking about. And it's just a fact that if you have 3 high level players that minor mistakes that would be emphasized in a solo environment can be easily covered by the other players.

I am against solo q because the player base isn't split into skill brackets. So even if the argument of 1v3 of equal skill being unfair is true that would rarely be the case in the actual game. And sometimes going against an unfair odds is just fun. I would however like to see solo players receive additional bonuses to stack the scales so to speak. Maybe solo players upon spawning have a chest in their room with potions, bandages or something else. Or groups would be guaranteed to encounter a mob heavy rooms outside of their spawn points. Or reducing the number or spell casts for groups. Or a myriad of other things of that nature.

i wish there was more players on a map + healing loot drops, i played a lot of darker matches and there were many times where i spent the entire match moving forward without fighting mobs, looking for players, and i would go the entire match without finding a single player, half the players die to pve in the first 2 minutes, it would be cool if they 2x the map size and 4 x the player count

@@dylanderechter3279 no? i never tried high roller but i played many matches, the pvp was very fun but as i said, it felt like i would usually only get 1 good fight sometimes 2 in a single match, just looking at the kill feed you see in the first 3 minutes half the lobby dies to pve, but it should be the opposite, more people should be dying near the end of the match, not the beginning

This is just the new game syndrome. Eventually players will learn how to pve and you will get more players alive at the end. It's just a matter of time the pve just becomes irrelevant to everyone.

Solo queue is bad for multiple reasons. 1. Increases queue times where currently one of the best parts of the game is the fact the queue times are basically non existent. 2. Makes balancing classes much harder as they have to balance in a way that the character can play solo fine but still play in a 3 man team fine. 3. A certain class will always be the dominant class in solo queue causing constant nerfs and buffs to occur or even total class reworks. 4. More cost to the company for servers 5. Lots of content is either very hard or impossible solo unless you glitch these certain mobs (Skeleton champions, Wraiths, Centaurs, Lichking, ect.) Meaning they will have to balance those bosses for solo players which then makes them very easy for 3 man teams. 6. Rogue will always be the best class for solo due to stealth and high dmg meaning rogue will definitely get a rework and either become useless or very weak for team play at all. 7. it takes away from the whole D&D vibe, Dungeons and Dragons is meant to be something played with a group. or interacting with groups. 8. Just more work for the Devs when they are just an indie company and will certainly result in a game thats then being produced or made by people who don't care about the game anymore and only about money. 9. Causes people to not want to even attempt to talk with people and form friendships and create those fun experiences with other players. Over the course of this 10 day playtest i made a lot of friends via Dark and Darkers Main discord and we helped teach each other things, created interest in wanting to try another class after seeing it preform in a way you might not have even tried due to every time you seen them before in solo queue, you were just trying to kill them or catch them with their pants down. 10. It's just not needed. learning to fight 1v3 or 1v2 is very important for when you do play with a team and your teammates die, having no 1v2 or 1v3 experience due to only playing solo queue until you got bored of it will make you a bad team player. 11. Will Massively effect the economy. being a solo player and good at the game results in you getting out of the dungeon 9/10 times or more with a ton of loot. Meaning you will have solo players flood the market creating a gold crash and these solo players can then get massively geared, play with a 3 man group with other like minded players and they will stomp the 3v3 lobbies now as well with all the gold and gear they have.

Each round has a time limit of 12 - 14 minutes, after the time is over, everyone that hasn't extracted will die immediately. So while it would be unwise to spend time camping, i do agree rogues would take over and anyone who wasn't playing rogue would be playing at a disadvantage.

I think the reason of not having solo in game like this, it's because it will have the problem that Apex Legends had in the solo queue mode, is about if a character become broken that's the only character most player will use making other obsolete so they have to balance the character in that mode and probably will affect the trio queue and vice versa, most team games like this are easy to balance in team of 3 or team of 2 cause mage can be OP in solo but can be weak in trios knight can be OP in trios but weak in solo etc its all come to evade the balancing nightmare imagine only having seasons where in solo the only thing you see is berserker only every match and when he's nerf you see mage only and so on that's why teams of 3 its the way to go the only thing I believe they can do for solo players is the same Hunt Showdown (a game kinda like this but is a shooter) is have duo queue so solo players can at least fight vs 2 player that's at least is manageable. (My bad if my writing is not great)

This game is so amazing. I’ve put in like 200 hours within the past two play tests. There’s work that needs to be done but it’s all such surface level stuff. The potential this game has is insane. Till February bois

I don't mind not having "solo queue", but they need to put in some sort of group fill mechanic like Apex has. Just group you with 2 other random people. But still give people the option to go in by themselves if they want. If they do wanna add solo queue where everyone is just by themselves, they should cut the hp of monsters down a decent bit because right now it's pretty damn tough to clear any room by yourself.

Currently I think the game is in an amazing spot. The combat is exactly where it needs to be, with some tweaks on numbers for various things. The slow and simple combat is easy to learn and has a high skill ceiling. The 2 biggest gripes I have and many others, is that 1.) Longbow Rangers do far too much damage. Like no joke they will bring you from full to 1hp even with full purple armour on a fighter, by just hitting their triple shot with a long bow. 2.) being Wizards are far better at being rogues, than rogues are. In High roller you'll see that a big meta for some wizards is running dagger and popping invis/haste and straight mowing down teams faster than any rogue can. It's really busted when done right. All in all tho, an amazing game and it's given me withdrawals since the playtest ended. I haven't wanted to play a game this badly since maybe MW2 or Battlefield 3 back on the PS3

Argument for no solo queue: everybody you meet there is solo, everybody there will know you are solo. You hear somebody you go in, u are the chad, you can take them. Thats not the mentality this game goes for, if they do it, they fck this game up. There are several mechanics to evade teams, and there are several possibilities to kill 3 players as solo depending on class you play but possible with any class. Shove the convinience where it belongs nd let this game be different for those who hate the 7 options of 1v1, 1vall, 2v2, 3v3, 1st person 3rd person... bs, even the high roller making a mess of things, just put one play button there maybe different spots like in tarkov but dont do the mainstream bs just because tenth of the casual players are crying. Another problem arises from this, can you team up in soloq? or will it be bannable? will you punish that interaction? or let ppl team up making it even more unfair then before? Jsut dont

I don't even think it's an issue of the speed of gameplay, but rather the actions per minute that's expected of a player. Most of what you're doing is moment to moment one thing at a time, movement, spacing, and decision making rather than having to manage 17 skills and cooldowns in any given moment. It allows for complexity without demanding that the player be hyper committed to learning every facet of the game to still enjoy it.

Hunt: Showdown has a decent solo queue system. You can't stop yourself from playing against duos, but playing solo puts you in a lower MMR game, which should give you a bit of an edge. Also, you won't be matched against trios by default, but you can opt into it for extra rewards.

If you've ever played DnD then you know that Cleric is always busted. Just like Bard he's a jack of all trades, except he's better at doing them than classes designed to excel at them. So basically he's a master of all trades.

Pestily did an interview with the lead dev of Dark and darker and the lead dev said that all the devs that are working on this game hated the direction in which gaming was going with monetization. I really hope that they keep the real money currency as earnable just by playing the game. Hunt Showdown does a great job of letting you earn a lot of the real money currency and because the vast vast majority of all the weapon skins and legendary hunters can just be earned playing the game, it makes me wanna buy the few that you can not earn and are DLC content. If Dark and Darker goes this way, I will gladly give them cash. It is when companies lock the coolest stuff behind a pay wall and anything that is earned looks half-assed or just rushed. Destiny 2 is a great example of what not to do.

Clerics are actually extremely powerful in melee with smite + buffs and a fast weapon. Barbarians are a lot stronger than most people think, it's just that the majority of barb weapons suck eggs.

2 recommendations: - What if the map was blank with the circle showing, but then as you enter each room it gets illuminated on the previously invisible map. So you can at least see where you've been to help you remember, but it's not giving you any insight on where would be good to go. - What if instead of solo queue vs all queue that splits players... the party types had buffs and debuffs against each other. Party vs Party = normal dmg, Solo vs Solo = normal dmg, but Solo vs Party = Solo gets bonus dmg and defense, and healing items are more effective at healing dmg dealt from parties. One might make some kind of argument about it being unbalanced, as you wouldn't not know what kind of enemy you are facing and what their stats are... but that point is completely invalidated by the fact that there are levels, perks, and gear stats that basically massively change those numbers already. It would only be a real issue if they completely reworked the game to remove bonus stats so that it was instead like Overwatch or something, where every character class has an exact known amount of HP/shield (for example so that Ana players know they can always 2-shot a tracer, 150hp = 75dmg + 75dmg).

I personally don't want Solo Queue, mostly because I think it makes things a lot more tense when you run into 3 persons alone or are midfight 3v3 or 3v3v3 or 3v2 (etc.) and get backstabbed by a Solo London Simulator or shot by Shegolas. Just my opinion. I think it would split the player base and increase queue times as well, which could kill momentum for this gem.

There is Solo Que... Goblin map with lesser items. there is the Up to trio que for the better loot, with better mobs & possibility to go further (red portal) for even more amazing loot and it requires teamwork. and even then the trio has to split loot & sometimes there isn't enough portal for the whole group. so acquiring items there is much harder. hence more valuable & rewarding. So if they make solo queue for the better map & have easier time acquiring what others work hard to do as a group would mean that the loot economy ruined slightly and higher gear less valuable.

The only extracts are towards the end where the circle is small. You're pretty much guaranteed to run into a group of 3 who steamrolled their way through every solo they encountered along the way at this point. It does feel great to get out as a solo but there is a clear disparity between how often/easy you can extract as a party of 3 compared to doing it solo. That's not balance.

Having solo and party ques will work when the game comes out because everyone is playing but as soon as the matchmaking takes more than 2 minutes everyone will be force to play with random at party to get a game fast, so I don't like the idea of solos and party ques

I think the main point of floor traps is less about hurting the player, and more about memorizing their locations to use that to your advantage. Lure NPCs into it, lead players into them, etc.

put a spellbook on a cleric, fast cast buffs and heals to my two barb friends, brought 2 campfires in dungeon. Fantastic time, we were killing between 8-13 players a session it was honestly a blast. Who needs to open doors when you got two barbs breaking everything open

I can agree with the concept of the solo queue being annoying from bumping into a 1v3 perspective, but I fear that if folks get a solo queue mode, it'll restrict a lot play styles for means of handling the dungeon. Some classes are very clearly meant to be able to handle players, and some monsters are much more difficult to handle alone as other classes, so they'll just be avoided. One such example would be if a rogue can easily wipe out a player with an ambush quickly, then a solo queue rogue may think twice about ambushing a party of 3. Leaving the game mode of "good luck" as is seems the best learning and potential bonding experience when trying to keep the immersion It's got a lot of room for growth. I just hope changes aren't for appeasing the folks that want to "even it out" that just forces a play style to be less annoying, let alone effective
