I rode this for the first time the other day (we scored fastpasses, against all odds!). And...holy crud. When I got out of the ride, I had to sit for a couple minutes because I legit had tears streaming down my face because of what I’d just experienced. Tears of pure joy and exhilaration. Those three and four hour lines allllll made sense after riding it!

Why exactly were you crying because you were happy.... I was crying because my mom said she wouldn't wait another 3 hours to do it again.

You should do a video about the music of theme parks. I believe it is a huge part of immersing guests and portraying the experience. Personally, a great example would be the music of Soarin’(specifically Soarin’ Over California). I believe it’s insanely unappreciated and is what makes the ride so emotional. I love your videos!
@thequeuelinelectures26365 жыл бұрын
That's a great idea! Soarin' is some of the best theme park music ever. I'm far from an expert on music theory, but a good friend works in film scoring so maybe I'll do a little collaboration with him!

I loved this ride. The first time. After riding a few times, I became bored and anxious from the long periods of standing and waiting in the endless queues. At least there's something to look at while you wait. I wish there was a way to skip pre-shows after you've seen it so many time.

My first ride of this attraction overwhelmed me, a feeling I would NEVER have expected from Disney. Entertainment, fun, enjoyment, awe, yes. IMO, Flight of Passage goes well beyond the sublime into the realm, impossible as it sounds, of the spiritual.

i was VERY excited to see this in my subscriptions today! you presented a lot of great information and ideas here. i felt for a long time that pandora was a confusing choice for animal kingdom. it seemed like a largely forgotten movie with practically nothing to do with "the point" of animal kingdom, but you're absolutely right--it fits in perfectly in a park that highlights the conflict between civilization and nature. also, this ride moving beyond the story of jake sully and the movie "avatar" is a magnificent choice that makes this an accessible experience for anyone, familiar with the movie or not. it doesn't feel as alien as star wars, or as tech-driven as tron, and the use of the banshee flight through the natural landscape of the planet on a man-made simulator to give you the experience of nature you can't actually walk in...this is a much smarter attraction than i'd ever realised.
@thequeuelinelectures26366 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! You are totally right about what a smart choice it was for them to move beyond the movie, especially when the fate of avatar as an IP is a lot less certain than marvel or Star Wars

I saw the video of sideways in the history of the music of the film where he explained a lot of lore they made for this film,and this complements the video perfectly,it really shows that this theme land is more complex that we know to be....i just think that dinoland usa needs to change or a major refurb

you know, the DNA double helix is actually a waterflow effect that happens due to specific sound vibrations. It seems to be flowing up because the white LED blinks in order to do so. Air bubbles wouldn't have enough stability to maintain it's course.

Jon Landau's presentation " Producer of Avatar and Titanic: the power of storytelling cannot be taken lightly" reflects upon this work. . Avatar in the big picture by core intension is a non merchandised film, and it has to be, its a part of the root ethos message of the film, this was a real challenge for Disney as to the angles there marketing angles they typically use simply wont fly with the reflected essence of the films message, one will note there are no in your face Disney logos, symbols or Charter actors that are ever visible "within the boundary's" of The World of Pandora park space.

Actually the “double helix” isn’t supposed to be dna and it isn’t air bubbles. It’s actually soundwaves being pit through a stream of water. You can replicate this experiment with a hose. The stream of water will change shape according to the soundwave frequency. What the effect is replicating in the lab is magnetic water. Honestly avatar was a movie I fell in love with as a kid. I have such an emotional connection to the very idea of pandora that the music from the movie can send me into tears at a moment’s notice. I’m really glad that Disney did justice to an imaginary world that I’d choose to live on if I could.

Well when you consider that that most native peoples have ceremony's that include rites of passage for there youth and that our people in general lack these ceremonial structures within our society its no surprise when one considers the non verbal "reflective" angles flight of passage uses the emotions and recognitions it's experence core connects with. It comes down to an aspect of internal bridge recognition, at least for some. there are a lot of layers touched upon in reflection that we can recognize internally, and its quite an emotive experience when we connect with these normaly tuned out layers of spirit to spirit recognition presented , The films angles in its story invoked those inner feelings as well there is a video of a young man that brought up the subject talking about Avatar's story symbolism and Rites of Passage within indigenous society's on this point he is able to recognize this .. kzbin.info/www/bejne/npTCZ2OwqtOYZpI

Great ride. Academic analysis was unnecessary. No one cares about you defining what metaphors were meant to be conveyed by the queue. The experience was euphoric. The absence of a story serves this purpose. You experience euphoria. You don't compact it into a lecture. Over thinking at its best buddy.
