Thank you for this! I get motion sick on motion simulator rides, especially those with 3D glasses. Remy’s made me feel a little queezy. I absolutely can’t do Star Tours. I was super worried about Flight of Passage but I didn’t feel sick AT ALL. I took Dramamine about 2 hours before the ride, was hydrated and made sure to not eat too heavy or drink any alcohol before the ride. I felt fine and it was amazing!

You are exactly right! Just got off the ride. Only needed to close my eyes once or twice. The mist of water sprayed definitely helped

I took your advice AND took bonine beforehand. I got a little nauseous. I didn't think the ride was so great anyway. Definitely not worth getting sick over. It wasn't for me even without the nausea. Tks again for the advice.

Thank you! This puts my mind a little more at ease about our upcoming trip! I want to ride it really bad, but also can’t do star tours at all. Thank you for the tips, definitely going to try it!

Came here to say this! I hear you, Star Tours is just 4m25s but if you suffer from motion sickness it seems like 30 minutes. I really want to try AFoP too, but I know I will be wrecked for the rest of the day...

I'm very mildly prone to motion sickness. Specifically, I can ride almost anything, but motion simulators usually leave me feeling a bit off. For example, I've never even attempted Mission: SPACE because I'm certain it would wreck me. I was a tiny bit worried about this ride before it got underway, but I can say that I was way queasier being worried about motion sickness during the preshow than I felt at any point on the actual ride. The ride itself felt great. They blow cool air in your face to enhance the sensation of flying, and I feel like that really helped. It was definitely more exhilarating than disorienting for me. One motion sickness trick that has worked for me (didn't need it on Flight of Passage) is to take a ginger pill (it will be called "ginger root extract" and will probably have a few hundred mg of ginger in it) maybe 10-30 minutes beforehand.

I'm so glad to hear this!!! I'm exactly the same way and agree with you 100% about Flight of Passage in comparison to the other attractions you mentioned. I'll have to give ginger pills a try on other attractions :)

I went on FOP a few weeks ago, and I got motion sickness. I think I am someone who gets motion sickness easily, but I never get it on Soarin'. One of my problems is that the moment I may start to feel a little queasy on a ride, I panic lol. Then it's all downhill from there - I don't stay immersed. But I have the courage to go on FOP again since I haven't tried any of the tips you mentioned. I want to try to stay immersed, not look around the room or look down, look at the Na'vi guide, and maybe even take a dramamine pill if needed. But yeah, Star Tours is just the worst ride for me- never again. lol

Thank you sooo much. I really wanted to ride this with my 15 year old son but was very nervous because I got sick on the magical bus delivering me to my hotel. I stayed engaged and watched my guide when I needed to and I absolutely loved it! Would do it again and again. (On different days) you were right! Thanks for saving my trip!

Overall, I survived the ride, but did get a little dizzy toward the end. I found this ride a little more intense than Soarin', which did not bother me. I was similarly a little dizzy coming off Mission to Mars (I probably should have chosen Earth which is less intense). I don't know if it was my mistake, but each "pod" contains a number of "banshees" next to each other (I think it is 6 or 8). I sat on one of the end seats and probably should have chosen a seat in the middle, but I understand each banshee moves the same. I also looked around a bit at the other "pods" in the theatre (yes it is basically a large I-Max 3D theatre with multiple levels of "pods") being curious as to how the ride accommodated so many people. What I found most different between this ride and Soarin' was that Soarin' was consistent from start to finish with its intensity switching between multiple destinations, while Flight of Passage was one continuous scene that seemed to increase it's intensity as the ride progressed (as did Mission to Mars). I never used to have problems with simulators in the past, but getting older has it's challenges. Still overall, I very much enjoyed the ride, but glad I waited to have lunch until after we went on it :)

I've been riding roller coasters for more than 30 years and have never had any issues except when I was physically tired or battling some kind of sickness that I had before the ride. However, over the years I've started having some minor issues and discovered that I don't do well on spinning rides such as tea cups, and especially not Mission:Space (Orange) side, which leaves me feeling VERY sickly, not nauseous, but just "bad" in a way I can't describe for more than an hour after. I assume this has something to do with the fact that I've had an occasional heart arrhythmia for more than 15 years and I take meds for. Needless to say, I avoid the orange side and many spinning type rides. I've ridden Flight of Passage about 4 times, and each time seems a little worse. The last 2 times I experienced slight nausea while in flight, and was REALLY glad for the cave scene where everything stops for a moment. I haven't "lost it" yet on or after the ride, but I've been worried I might. I will add though, on all of these I've done quite a bit of looking around to try and take in all the details, even looked straight up, down, left and right while in motion, not thinking about how it could be causing me to lose "sync" with the visuals. I will keep these "tricks" in mind for my next flight and see if they help. I'm really hoping so, because this is such an incredible attraction!

Thank you, thank you. We're going to WDW in two weeks and I've been trying to decide if I should try this ride. This is the most useful information I've found. I can handle mild roller coasters (Big Thunder Mountain), but I avoid 3D movies. Even some of the movies in World Showcase get me. Based on this information, I'll give it a try.

@@ImaginationSkyway Thanks to your encouragement, I did Flight of Passage and survived. The trick of watching your Navi guide really helps as does the wind blowing in your face. I usually avoid IMAX and 3D movies. I also avoid Mission Space, Soarin', teacups, etc. This trip I was fine on Slinky Dog Dash, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Thunder Mountain, Alien Swirling Saucers, and Flight of Passage. What made me motion sick this trip? The Canada movie and the Skyliner (both wrapped and clear). I think the problem with the Skyliner is the distortion the glass creates.

For me, I feel sicker watching POVs of this ride on KZbin than I do on the real thing. I do agree that the level of realism really helps combat nausea. The only reason I think I was nauseous to begin with was from being nervous about the ride. I had no idea what it was or what it did, so as I’m sitting there getting zapped in the stomach by my link-chair, (if you’ve been on it then you know what I’m talking about.) I was starting to panic a little bit. Once the wind started blowing in my face I felt much better and barely felt sick at all. The part where you start going backwards while fighting with the other banshee (Toruk, aka the red one halfway) made me a little uneasy. But like you said, it went away quickly. I don’t have enough good things to say about this ride. I could go on and on about it, and if you’re prone to motion sickness, find some Dramamine or something, because this is not one to miss out on!

I do know James Cameron has done tremendous core research into looking at the roots of the physiological effects of immersive 3D Cinema so one can assume this applies to this motion base attraction as well , The motion base movement is "extremely tightly locked" to the motion flow examples visually presented on the screen so the brain does not receive any conflicting perceptions, just curious does anyone know of anyone that has had any issues with it motion sickness wise ?

My daughter has never had any issues with motion sickness but she's really only ridden on fair rides. She is only 8 but tall enough to ride. I'm probably over worrying for it I would just hate for her to be sick on the first ride we go to on our first trip to Disney :-( Thanks for the suggestions

I honestly dont think she would have a problem with it. Just keep your eyes on the screen and you will all be fine. To be on the safe side, just do these rides over an hour after you've eaten.
