The poker player analogy is really good. Great talk YG. The “game inside the game”.

YG providing yet another insightful video. Nice job buddy. I find that the best players are the ones who can morph their game plan as a moving piece of art. Regardless of what comes up they have two or three contingency options instead of getting locked into a single plan of action. They will also continuously position their pieces so as to be able to hit/reach several key territories EVERY round to force their opponent to make decisions that they probably aren't comfortable with thereby buying them a time and money advantage which continues to grow with each passing turn.

Hey YG. Great video - Spot on. I’ve learned a few things along this line also: They see well into the future rounds (because they know your options). They even know most likely what you’re going to buy....etc... I’ve learned that if something seems to good to be true (“oh look! He made a mistake and left this open...”)..that’s exactly where they want you. The table had been set and they already have a devistating, diabolical plan for when you do move into the it trap. They also aren’t concerned about losing pieces. If it’s a chance for Russia to kill German infantry...”hey, if I attack now then I kill his infantry, meaning the next time I’m into his tanks and art.” They know when the appropriate Time is to “trade pieces”. I’ve, to, have learned a lot from great players. Buy the time I’ve learned....they’ve moved onto other great ideas and strategies, this keeping me still behind 😂😜😩

I consider myself quite good at G40, but I always play against a friend (online, as he has 6 kids) who beats me 90% of the time. I consider him a better planner than I am in terms of thinking sometimes 8 turns ahead and thus a better player. He is also almost always luckier than I am in games and over time, I realised I let that dictate my lack of aggressive moves, whereas he would go for risky moves. Recently I hit a reset in my mind regarding these and the games are much tighter (but I still lose lol)

A very close friend of mine runs Poker After Dark. The number one enemy of most professional poker players is tilt. So you are absolutely correct on point number 2. And point number 6 has lost many games for people that I’ve played with.

Some great points. I would add one more. Great players will look 4-5 turns down the line and build appropriately . As a simple example, if you aim to take Moscow in turn 5, no point building infantry and why build armour after turn 3 (assume no new factory)

Given how hard it is to find players for this game, trashtalking is pretty much the definition of pissing in the pants to stay warm lol😂

A common thing I see with the enemy is the inability to take casualties. Players seems to think that losing units equates automatic defeat and do not understand that you're raging a war, your divisions will get destroyed.
@dutchlancaster39903 жыл бұрын
Well said. I’m sure most if not everybody here recognises these 5 points. Another two things that come to mind; great players don’t buy a lot of expensive units and they tend to bring a lot of ‘fodder’ like infantry or subs/destroyers.
@alphaomegacomics35502 жыл бұрын
I agree with your five points, and you present them very well. The chess analogy that you touch on briefly is appropriate, as forethought of several moves is essential to outlasting you opponent in Global 1940. Sometimes having a counter to their counter is not enough. You have to have the vision to see where else those forces may be needed, or to see that their position on your flank will strengthen after the multiple exchanges.

Very true... but sometimes you just need to exchange your units for theirs (if you believe it will hurt them more in the long run).

Great list YG! I certainly consider myself just a beginner or average player - definitely seen others run circles around me, who see these things and I simply don't.

When you are looking at the enemy, you are not looking at yourself. Just because you won't do it, does not mean your enemy won't either.

Yes, a new Omaha deck is coming, it's a fine line between putting the rules in stone and making them available before the Wisconsin event in August

Never assume the Allies are landing in Dover. What I mean by that is no matter how many games you play, never assume your enemy is going to make the classic scripted moves. Some one is brave enough to try something unique.

I myself have trouble with Ranting about my lousy rolls and playing mainly on KZbin I'm the One rolling Both attacker & Defender Dice (The proof is in my Many videos, Corporal Clegg might even do a video on my numerous Rants someday), although I Never allow it to make me quit but instead it spurns me do Better realizing the game is a Marathon and Not a Sprint! The 1 point you could've added and probably holds me back is underestimating your opponent, don't get Too smug but always pretend your enemy is a Great player so that you don't get overconfident no matter who you're going up against! I Excel in playing Mind games, but I usually use either the Subtle or Outright Razzing depending on who I'm playing against- whether they can take it or not, I don't want my opposite to go to the point of quitting and make it no fun for them!!!

That story was actually about a game at my bunker with snake eyes and his buddy Ken, they were relentless and were cheering my bad dice as if they were great dice at a craps table... I couldn’t go on... but I know the game you think I was talking about, that’s when I went out for cigarettes and didn’t come back :)
