Great video.. I totally agree that Ger has to attack a USSR turn 1 but I think you're selling USSR a little short. Russia's objective should be to stack Bryansk at the end of turn 2. (Baltic states and Leningrad stack Belarus turn 1). Germany can't hold Ukraine turn 3 in many games. The original troops plus 3 tanks isn't enough, Ger has to committ more resources than that against a USSR player who's smart

Good strategy video. Only thing I would say is that the initial sub attack in zone 109 (1 sub vs dest + transport), UK will scramble if they don't scramble anywhere else. In your scenario, it doesn't matter since you didn't hit, but at best (assuming no UK scramble in 110), you knock out the destroyer but never the transport. still, I'll consider using this if I'm axis in my next game!

I noticed I forgot a couple things, was too excited haha! First, those strat bombers land in W-Germany, not Germany... utilize the airbase +1 movement. Second, bring in some air support to Russia, especially Tac bombers to get the +1 attack when paired with the tanks... and Third, after seeing what UK does, if those bombers are not needed, send them to bomb Moscow factory.
@franklinbradfield91316 жыл бұрын
Awesome video! I've tested this out a couple of times against Easy to Medium AI in a simulator and it's working out great! Can't wait to roll it on my next game with friends. Just have a couple of comments: 1.) In the opening air raid, you've got slightly inefficient placement of fighters / tac bombers - 2 fighters w/ 1 tac in SZ110 and 2 fighters w/ 3 tac bombers in SZ111. If you feel that Britain is likely to scramble into SZ110, it'd be better to put 2 fighters with 2 tac bombers in each SZ to boost the latter up to 4 and push maximum attack power. I guess the risk here is that the ships in SZ111 can put a beating on your attack squad if they get a good roll. 2.) Why not soften up London with a bombing raid or two on G2 / G3? You've still got plenty of aircraft of all types, and if they scrambled and lost G1, then they are particularly doomed. I understand you need heavy air support for Sea Lion, but even if you lose a few planes in the raids, you will have significantly weakened them in the process since they'll either have to spend lots of IPC for repairs or just give up on fortifying London altogether. 3.) Others have commented on the exposure risk on the northern flank. It's there indeed, but one way to counter it is by mobilizing those 7 troops in Finland. If you place 5 - 6 troops in Poland, they would have to bring down forces from Leningrad to stand a reasonable chance of capturing it. By moving into your guys into Karelia, you give them second thoughts about committing too much to the north flank.
@TheCliffsideBunker7 жыл бұрын
I really like this... I think very black and white extreme in regards to either attacking east or west as Germany and I've got strategies for both, but you've presented a gray middle ground for achieving goals on both fronts. I think the community is gonna really embrace this, I've never seen anything like it although I'm not sure what the Tripple A guys are doing.

Thanks YG! I spent a huge amount of time on this! The first time I used it, my group was wtf?? .... Where the heck you putting a Minor Factory?!? ..... Wait a destroyer too??? ... I said "yup".... it didn't take too much longer for the ranking to stop as Germany swept though Russia and a Sea Lion invasion force was sitting there..... Ive used it the past 6 games, won the past 6 games... This weekend im UK, so well see if its used on me or not.

Can you list out your purchases for each turn?? I would definitely use this strategy because the typical Axis players in my group are against attacking Russia until Russia declares war on them. They spend their money on preparing for Barbarossa and attack on Turn 4. I love this strategy and it could be incredibly effective if I execute it properly the first time.
@siredblood7 жыл бұрын
G1 is factory/destroyer/fighter.... G2- tanks... G3- transports (if your doing SL).... you really need to watch what UK and Russia are doing, this will determine where to send your Air support, in addition, you may need to send troops out of Berlin if Russia gets ballsy.
@primroselane17 жыл бұрын
Looks like a good strategy. One thing that is a no-brainer though is scrambling fighters in sz 109 from London AND Scotland. The sub can't fire at the planes and it's almost a guaranteed hit on the sub with the destroyer in there.You might want to rethink that one move once your guys figure that out. If you're going on a suicide run anyway maybe try and hit the cruiser instead.
@siredblood7 жыл бұрын
Its funny you mention, as you know when we chatted a tad, this was my 3rd attempt.... after 3 times, you kinda forget things (because you already did it).. I did actually scramble those in the earlier ones.. Im going to do a recap vid for Germany, ill go over more why this/that,,, why that destroyer even though there is a scramble vs nova scotia with no scramble... why not hit that cruiser, etc.... there is reason for my madness :D
@primroselane17 жыл бұрын
I kinda figured it was a hail Mary to take out the only destroyer that could reach your South Atlantic sub. If that was the case I was only suggesting that the cruiser had a better chance of success for the sub attack on G1. For the record, I would still take my cruiser into the Med as UK even if the sub hit the destroyer in 109. I would find another way to hunt him down on turn 2 or 3.
@siredblood7 жыл бұрын
If UK takes cruiser to med, then that -5 for UK... each turn = win... if you take cruiser to sub = less units in med, which is a win. .. If Germany attacks that cruiser, and fails.. then Germany loses the advantage, as there is no longer a win/win scenario. Germany needs to pass up the cruiser, and leave it to UK to chase, or leave alone, then you have a win/win... at that point who cares what UK does.
@primroselane17 жыл бұрын
I've lived this long without ever getting that bonus so I can wait a couple more turns. If we're talking about tournament rules, there are 2 tokens up for grabs in Africa. For the Axis they only need to get North Africa and that will be a lot more likely if you take the cruiser out of the equation by having him chase 5 bucks in the South Atlantic. They will likely have 1 more transport to work with and will have a good chance to get N. Africa. They don't have to hold it they just have to acquire it long enough to toast with the German player and take a drink. On the other hand if you take out 2 transports turn 1 and the other turn 2 you stand a good chance of getting the Allies token.
@B4hET7 жыл бұрын
But why should the UK take the Cruiser to the Sub, the Sub can submerge all the time, they need a Destroyer there anyway and the Cruiser would be way better for the Med to weaken Italy Turn 1.

Nice video! Couple of questions: Why do you put your fleet in SZ113 rather than SZ112? Why do you attack SZ109, and more importantly, why doesn't UK just scramble all four fighters against it? Why do you land so many planes in Holland/Belgium that could also land in Western Germany? Thanks in advance!
@cyberpimp296 жыл бұрын
I never would have thought of attacking UK's navy before eliminating the French. It makes so much sense to get after them before they can consolidate their navy in the English Channel. Im doing this for sure next game...
@TheCliffsideBunker7 жыл бұрын
I haven't checked out the UK video yet, but If your group is constantly losing to your German strategy, than it's best to continue an all out scramble into 110. If London falls lets say 90% of the time, than the best chance to tip the odds is to get lucky rolls vs. bad rolls in 110. Best case scenario for UK is Germany to retreat a damaged battleship and all 3 fighters land. What have they got to lose if London is already doomed.
@siredblood7 жыл бұрын
London is not a guarantee, but with my strategy, UK is forced to focus on London, and making UK commit to London is a win/win.... if they do, I explained what to do, if they don't, I explained what to do... win/win. Putting other players into scenarios that work for you either way, is great :)

@daviddyhrfrancker6514 жыл бұрын
Hello! I'm a little late for the party here, but still :) Thanks for the videos. I have a few questions: 1) Has this been tested in a game with an Allies bid? My impression is that most people play with an Allied bid and often that bid land on 16 IPCs. Those IPCs are, more often than not, spent on 1 Fighter in Scotland and 1 Sub near Egypt, both english of course. That makes scrambling more viable in sz 111, but I would probably still not do it. However, even with 1 Fighter i Scotland I would scamble in SZ 109 and that would mean an (almost) wasted sub 80-90% of the times for Germany. 2) In SZ 110, if England scramble both english fighter + the french fighter, the chances of a German victory is less than 50% - in my test play Germany lost the battle and England survived with 1 Fighter. - I've never played with the tournament rules with the extra IPC income for Britain, so I could have brought the extra sub, but even then, chances were slim. 3) Again, with and allied bid... Taranto is a little easier to do, with the extra 2 units, so there are really good chances that Italy are crippled in the Med + they will, most likely, get very little income on their first turn, even if they take Yugoslavia and Southern France in turn 1

Why would you forgo the bonus income from peace with Russia for 2 turns? What's the benefit of attacking both simultaneously rather than sequentially? 10 extra ipc's over two turns may be a small boon in preparing to go after Russia or in aiding the Italians.

Hey sired, great video. This is an interesting strategy for Germany. I had never considered moving the sub to the southern Atlantic nor using that German army from Greater Southern to Romania upon retreat. I'm usually very aggressive with the Germans turn one and aim to completely tank the UK navy. However, I do not usually attack the USSR until usually G2. One other question for your great customization job: I was wondering where you got the emblems for your ships, planes, and tanks and how you applied them? Thank you!
@redblackmonkey7 жыл бұрын
You should call this the German Kobra Kai Strategy. Neat to see how strategies can evolve through the different versions of A&A. Classic's "Russia first" approach was usually the way I went, similar in '42 2nd ed. Never tried this in global yet, wanted to weaken U.K. and shore up Europe first then hit Russia(turn 2) but as you say Russia can build up fast. Can't leave Russia to sit there and build up. Diminish and hopefully eliminate the British navy, and focus on the east/southern Russia territories. Africa and the med. are a glorified distraction that takes necessary resources away from Germany to help Italy. Italy should hold what they can, but supporting Germany's southern Russian efforts is paramount. Nicely laid out approach as you presented it, I will have to try it out your way some time. Dice seem to be rolling really well, when you hit, all you're rolling is 1's, AMAZING! LOL! LOVE THE NEW BATTLE DICE!

Do you take Ukraine turn 2 or 3? I feel like you said both. Turn 3 seems more realistic. Also, at first I wanted to shoot down this whole strategy. After watching it all, I am genuinely intrigued. I always wondered if a Romanian factory was helpful. Do you only use it for tanks as well?
@siredblood7 жыл бұрын
Ya, I got mixed up when I was stating it, I added a caption lol... turn 3 is Ukraine... at all costs. @christiangroenheide1341 Жыл бұрын
So does it make sense to save the Germany battleship if you are so keen on exchanging fighters with uk? Cus that is the reason you are sacrificing it. So UK doesn't want to lose their fighters. Just did a roll and it went equal losses so the BB is saved. It can also retreat when just attacking sz 111 lightly (2 fighter, 2 tac bomber, 1 sub and 1 BB) and retreating to sz 112 if you dont kill the UK BB 1st round.. Moving the sz 114 fleet to 112 and putting the destroyer bought at the buy phase with them. Making it a formidable fleet to defend against any UK counter. And if there is a BB left from UK it can be Reached as sz111 has no naval base. You must however do sz 109 first to see if the destroyer survives. Otherwise he can block a sneak attack in round 2 with the destroyer moving the BB and destroyer to sz 123 plus a fighter on Iceland. But you will have to have a bad roll. Also bb hit will be repaired round 2. So I put 2 fighter + 1 tac bomber, 1 sub and 1 BB in sz 111 and attack both sz 106 and 109. I would also take the chance on cruiser with a sub in sz 91. So sz 110 has 1 sub, 2 fighters, 3 tac bombers and 2 bombers. I think that is better as the BB is saved and you can kill all UK fleet. Except 1 transport in sz 109.

However, a J1 DOW on the pacific allies with the pearl harbor attack would mean the U.S. has to turn its attention to the Pacific and their bonuses for being at war would be spent in the pacific and would probably not disrupt the Cobra Kai plan for Germany and Italy. I have watched this video twice but I am still pretty confused. Its not clear to me how to get Ukraine by turn 3. I play tested this against myself, bringing everything I possibly can to attack Ukraine on turn 3. I even brought the tanks from Southern Germany and 1 of the mechs instead of bringing them into France like you did. With Russia I gathered as much defense in Ukraine as possible, all the planes and everything. With a battle calculator I found the odds for the Germans to be something horrible like 2%. How does this work? And then Stalingrad the very next round even though its 2 spaces away? And then pushing to Moscow without even following up with all the troops that start in Germany? I just don't see it. And Sea Lion on turn 4 means that on rounds 2 and 3 you need to spend most of your money on troops and transports for that attack right? I mean the 9 transports alone is 63 IPCs. How does that allow you to also beat Russia?
@TheCliffsideBunker7 жыл бұрын
I admit, once Germany and Italy are in the middle east together that fast, they are getting a very high return on territory value and NO bonuses... and will not face much opposition strength in that area. The weak spot I see just from watching this once is the Northern flank through the Baltic States and Poland (especially if the Allies can find a way to eliminate all German transports).
@siredblood7 жыл бұрын
You have to watch northern flank for sure, move in the 11 troops from Germany, in addition, not hard to plant more if needed. As for allies bombing German transports, there is noting to take out until its too late... London is a secondary objective (need to remember that, primary is Moscow, and Atlantic wall), there is no money taking UK compared to taking the soviet southern states, not to mention taking out the power. As for the Africa token... well, the allies should be able to get something during the game :) . I think its more important for Italy to help with the Atlantic wall then to divide from Germany. You know there is no money in Africa and I know you added the tokens to add more gameplay there, but still, dividing the axis I feel is not worth the risk... sure Axis can easily get the Africa token, but then they can easily lose Rome, or have a landing happen. Ive came in too many times and snatched Rome early in the game from eager Africa players. We have only been playing with your rules for the past 4/5 games... Ive been stuck playing on the Allies for the most part with all Allied wins ..(Not allowed Germany anymore one of our players said), .. This next game im Japan, I can give more intel on the Axis Africa token.

On the first turn I tried to take out Bessarabia with 2 infantry and 2 tanks against Russia's 2 infantry and my roll of the dice sucked. I lost everything and he still had his 2 infantry remaining. That set me back one turn. The Americans and ANZAC focused all of there attention to Japan and left Europe alone. We wound up doing a big sea battle in the Phillipines. America had better odds, but I took out all of his fleet hoping I could take out his 4 transports. The battle ended up with America having one damaged battleship and keeping the transports. Japan lost everything. Only one more hit would have wiped him clean and Japan would have held on. In your experience, do you think the loss in Bessarabia on the first turn was the key factor to why the Cobra Kai failed? The odds of winning with 2 tanks and 2 infantry against 2 infantry were 97.4%

Strategies always break with a few crazy rolls, last week I had a critical battle where I went in with 30 dice, most 3s and 4s.... only 11 hits while his 25 2s hit 16... was terrible, game changer... we no longer use this ruleset, as victory conditions never set well with us.

I know this is late, but if you Attack with Japan anyone other than China, and those that attack you, you bring USA in too soon for this to work well. Japan has to stall to buy time for Germany. Also, if you watch the strat you use planes in Bessarabia. Bad dice are bad dice, and bad dice at the wrong time defeat anyone, and that is why I always take people who claim undeated or unbeatable strategies with a grain of salt.
@HunterJonesAxisandAllies7 жыл бұрын
A few things 1. The strategy looks strong, but not something I would use. 2. What if the Russians take manchuria and Korea? What does japan do at that point? 3. This destroys anyone's factory strategy for the UK. (Might beat middle earth) 4. Usually by round 5 or 6, Italy is knocked out of Africa with the US knocking at their door.
@siredblood7 жыл бұрын
2- I like doing this with Russia, and I also like destroying them with Japan.... its not uncommon for me as Russia to negate the Mongolian rule, and as Japan to activate the Mongolian rule.... ill do the Japan vid after UK4- Italy should not be worried about Africa at this time, this is why you as Germany give them both southern france, and Normandy, in addition to the Yugo and Greece, that's 10 ipc. Italy needs to help in holding the coast. Also, if US is headed to Africa, that's great, that means they are not helping London, and Sea Lion is in play.... Remember Italy will never win the game, they need to assist Germany to win the game.

Do any of these strategies apply to the 2nd edition? I have recently purchased the 2nd edition, and my allies are getting thwacked. Germany is getting near 100 a turn, Japan in low 50s, and while US is in the 80s, they cant keep up with both.

I know this video is 7 years old, however.. Why not forego the Romanian factory? If you just purchased 2 Armor (or 3 Mech) on Round 1, they’d be in Romania during NCM of R2.. the exact same time you’d be purchasing and placing 3 mobile units. If the purpose of the Romanian Minor IC is perpetual Armor purchases, then starting earlier and placing them in Berlin accomplishes the exact same thing. And it sounds like if you’re purchasing all transports on G2.. aren’t you going a full round without building on that sweet new IC? Ouch! I do understand that the Romanian factory allows you to have some fun in a longer game - an airbase on it and a transport allows complete dominance in the Black Sea late game.. but that would be the exception rather than the norm.

This comment made so much sense that I use it in the game. I use the 12 extra IPC to purchase two tanks instead. So thank you for the help 😊

what do you think about germany buying S.Bombers (pile a lot) to protect against USA ships and to do strategic bombing on London, while you also go against russia (but don't do a see Lion)
@siredblood7 жыл бұрын
For me, I would personally rather have 5 Infantry on my coastline then a bomber in the air. Germany cant afford a 2 front war, this is why is important not to take Normandy and southern france, and not get involved with anything you might lose your 20 units in reserve for Sea Lion. If you show your hand, thee is no Sea Lion, UK will be all in Africa... buying ships, etc.... Even if you don't plan a Sea Lion, I recommend leaving the potential force on standby... this ensures you know what UK is going to do.... knowing your opponents moves is a good strategy.... I know there are tank guys, there are bomber guys.... if your a bomber guy, I probably wont be able to talk you out of it lol...... However, after Moscow, ya, bomber up!

I've been studying this strategy and have a question: why attack Russia G1? Seems to me all it accomplishes is taking out 4 Russian infantry and potentially loosing 3 tanks (+whatever infantry remain) on a R1 counter-attack. You also loose your +5 IPC bonus for not being at war and have to consolidate in Bessarabia G2 anyway before you can attack Ukraine G3. So why not just attack Russia on G2?

wow, I would definitely scram 3 into 110 and 1 into 109. in 110 you got 4 at 4, 2 at 3 vs 4 at 4 and 2 at 3, both with 1 extra hit point, that's 50/50... no sub in 125, USSR is going to get +5. I fear the USSR is going to steamroll you when you buy all those transports. Sealion turn 4 is going to be impossible, unless the UK player screws up. That's 3 turns of production at at least 24 IPCs, that's extra 24 dudes in there. You want to try it vs me on the A&A forum? PM me there. My handle: Karl7

I agree hit 109, I don’t hit that anymore as well as some other changes... not sure what play by forum is or how it works, I’m more a social person/player, without friends, cigars and drinks I wouldn’t play this game as it quite honestly takes too long without the above. thanks for the invite though.
