I'm not at all great at watercolors, but I have to say THIS KIT LOOKS AMAZING FOR BEGINNERS! There's so many small things that can cause someone to struggle with learning, and this kit fixes so many of those. That mixing tray is a scrubbed plastic, meaning you can spread the color out without it "beading" up like 99% of palettes. The brushes are good quality, the paper looks nice and thick, and the paints seem to be artist quality. These sketches help you make something nice AND learn, and it even talks you through how much water and such. God I think this kit would have saved me a good $100+ in wasted supplies/frustrations!

Hey Rin...I just started using watercolours myself, and I cannot stress enough that you should use two water containers. One for cleaning your brushes, and the other to wet your brush and use in mixing. That insures the vibrancy of colours and you don't risk muddying them up. If you used one off camera disregard my comment :) Also for a flat wash, I've noticed it goes down much better if you wet the surface with clean water (not much, just so you sort of 'prime' the paper) prior to laying down the watercolour, plus it's best using a prepared watercolour by which I mean you dilute it on your palette. Lastly, USE swatch cards...cannot stress how important it is to test your colour before you put it to paper. Hope any of this is useful, good luck and happy painting :) Hope you're having a nice holiday time :3 ps would be great if you made this a series

while this was really good, and i love how excited you were to do it and learn, there was one little issue with your painting technique. you were using the brush as if it's a colored pencil or marker, which kind of iffs up the smoothness of the paint. instead, try doing smooth, even strokes one by one instead of scrubbing like you did. also, make sure to utilize the smaller paint brush for little details like the flowers and shading on the leaves! aside from that, this is great and i can't wait to see if you experiment more with painting in the future!

Right she often paints as if the brush she's holding is just another marker.from layering to blending she doesnt use a different technique other than the ones she knows instead of trying to branch out and learning actual watercolor.

@Lemu_with_a_shirt 3 жыл бұрын
@@ABIXWEEZY I don't think it's fair to say she doesn't try. It can be really hard to change up your entire technique if you're fully comfortable with one. It's something you first have to learn, which, not many people talk about this. And then you have to learn and practice applying said new technique. It takes time and effort.

Wow, love that kit. I've been playing with watercolors for 3 years but still learning. I like your first one the best. Tip: Hold your brush straight up and down and use more water. Steps would be water on brush, make a small puddle of water on the palette then pick up paint with the brush and mix in the water. Then you paint from those puddles of color. Not the paint blobs. You did an awesome job. Looks nice and painterly. Love your channel. Off to Etsy to see these kits.

Honestly I love this! For the amount of materials you're getting I would say that $60 is underpricing by a long shot. Not only is the painting book itself full of tutorial information, it gives you TWO copies to paint on instead of one. Not only that you get the reference image AND the artist's OWN WORK. To me, that painting book alone is worth way more than $60! Adding on all of the good quality materials they've provided you with I would be willing to shell out at least $100 and would not even bat an eye if they wanted more. It's so easy to see a lot of effort and thought went into this kit and if I had the funds right now I'd be buying one for myself immediately! [EDIT] I understand this is a black friday sale but seriously I would totally pay full price. It is so worth it.

Hey Waffles, here’s a tip my art teacher taught us. To get a nice even wash try the technique called “running a bead.” You start on one side of the drawing and with your paper raised and titled in the direction you want the wash to go. From the starting corner you go left and right as you go down, make sure to keep the paint wet where your brush is to keep the transition a nice and smooth.

Don't wash off the palette! Keep reactivating the colors and using them, that's the beauty of watercolors! Sure some things may eventually get muddy but the reason the picture looks cohesive is because you mixed everything with the umbers and it desaturated and gave everything a more natural hue. You can keep adding pigment to the same blotches and making them either more vibrant or more desaturated depending what you add to it. Burnt sienna is great for this as well, if you do other paintings outside this book! But yes, watercolors are expensive, so keep using your palette instead of wiping off all that lovely mixed paint!

I loved watching you play with a fun gift even if it was to yourself. I would love to see you do more of the pages. I really enjoy how you enjoy the challenge of moving outside of your comfort art zone but still staying true to it in a lot of ways, healthy mix of ah this scares me but I will do it the best I can and know if I continue I will get better attitude. I often send your videos to my friend who is an amazing artist/doodler for pep talks ;) so you say what I try to tell her but it’s better received coming from you and a few other artists. So thank you for being a great role model and for helping others in ways you probably never thought of.

I have the complete set, mostly use them for handlettering, not so much for painting. Could be used for colouring in though and if you use them on watercolour paper the colours do allow themselves to be blended very nicely.
@del_eris
@del_eris 5 жыл бұрын
Same. I got a couple of the packs, and I've never used brush markers before so I picked them out by watching a bunch of videos and based on the moderate price - and the fact that I had no skin tones in my regular markers and Tombow has that skin tone "Portrait" pack. I have only swatched them and tried a little blending so far. I definitely want to find some tips on how to do the blending. Also, I completely blanked on checking what kinds of paper they work best with, so I need to find some info on that and do more experimenting with the couple types of paper I have.

@ilsev4795
@ilsev4795 5 жыл бұрын
@@del_eris depends on what you want. Blending works really well with a waterbrush or just a simple paintbrush with water, but be sure to use watercolour paper. I always love the heavy kind, 200grams or 300grams. Anything thinner warps on me and I hate it when that happens. If you just want to write with them, or decorate, the paper does not need to be that thick. I also use them in a bulletjournel with 80gram pages which works fine, just don't blend on that thin paper.
