Something I've been focusing on in my art (and life as well)l, is being more intentional. Its so easy to just say "this isn't the art supply for me." After struggling with watercolors for years, im trying very hard to be more intentional and patient with it and see what happens. I think it really helped! What about you?

I was going to quit doing art, from bullying, art teachers telling me my art would never improve, and from mental health problems. And i want to thank you and this channels community for helping me improve, gain motivation, and finally start my first animation and start making a video for my own youtube channel again. Thank you so much, you saved me from the end of my art journey and from the pit of depression i was in. Seriously i know you do nothing but draw but i cant thank you enough for doing what you do! Keep arting mah dude ✌👍!

I’m a big watercolours user, and I really love Daniel Smith. Amethyst genuine is actually made out of real amethyst. They have a whole series made out of stones, and it’s quite pricy 😭 Also, here is my little advice :) With watercolours you wanna work in layers ; the more layers the better it’ll look ! That’s why it’s better to avoid using it with no or little water, otherwise it’ll look cakey 😭 Hope this helps a little ! 👀

Oh my god why have I never heard this tip before?? I have some colors where they're most appealing to me at their full saturation, but when I finish a painting I end up hating it because of how gross the texture was in the saturated areas. You just changed my whole life tysm QvQ
@geniej2378
@geniej2378 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah with watercolours you're meant to paint in "washes", building up the saturation using layers, and you get beautiful transparency which is an effect unique to the watercolour medium.

Well, the idea is that the primateks are genuine gemstones, but it's the question how much is actually the gemstone and how much is filler pigments. And because they refuse to disclose it, it's better not to expect a lot.

Just a helpful hint you will probably want to avoid brushing the hairs of your brush on your hand when you first receive it. Instead you will need to soak you paint brushes before you use them. Many high quality paint brushes have a light coating on them to hold their shape until they get to the consumer, using the paint brush before this coating is removed can lead to the brush loosing it's shape. It's a small thing you never hear until someone tells you, just thought I should share. There are a few youtube videos on how to do this, hope that helps 😊

Hullo Rin, lovely studies! I have a real belief that creating a study or three gives you more understanding about art supplies than simple swatches! I have a watercolor painting tip? If the paper feels dry but is cool it is not truly dry! The surface is dry but the water has not completely left the paper. I have found that if you use the back of your hand and it no longer is cool to your touch, it will no longer bleed or fuzz out. I hope you continue to share your watercolor art journey with us, thanks Rin!

By the way, a cool technique you can try is using dry and wet brushes for blending-- using a clean dry brush to go over edges of color boundaries will make a hard edge, and using a clean wet brush to do the same thing will make a soft edge and blend the colors out :)

No lightfastness is more than that. Never display artwork in sunlight. Non lightfast fades IN ANY LIGHT over time . The more light the quicker the fade. To reduce this frame under uv protective glass. Alcohol markers. can be worse than most art supplies. Some are not fade proof stable and once exposed to air will fade in time. Acids and other things effect lightfastness. Hang artwork where no sunlight will touch it OR frame under UV protective glass if you still want to hang it in a very well lit spot. Scan/photo to have a copy anyways. Some of your sketchbook alcohol marker work will fade even in a closed sketchbook. Always scan art marker work ASAP after finishing. Finish within 1 week. Scan/photo. Lightfast can handle more light should have no fading even after a year in a sunlight facing window. This simulates 100 years in a temperature and humidity controlled no direct uv/sunlight room. Art marker is very not built to last. If you want art to last use lightfast materials. Beware an over obsession with lightfastness to the detriment of fun/creation. Just be cognizant of the properties. I use non lightfast but knowingly now. For example I use opera watercolours and neon gouache it will fade But it’s needed for certain fluorescent colours. And if you enjoy alcohol markers use them just know they will not last. I framed an art marker piece 12 years ago under uv glass with no fading, it’s even been in lit areas and outside a few times, Depends on the exact hues/mix/marker however. I hear many violet and pinks in copics are not fade proof or chemically stable. But the greys and browns are often more fade proof and stable but still less lightfast. Alcohol as a solvent itself I believe is not conducive to lightfastness. Be aware but don’t let it become your obsession or get in the way of using supplies and colours that bring you real enjoyment!

Absolutely brilliant video! 💜💜💜 It’s soooo great to hear you so happy! You did an amazing job with your paintings! 🤩 I’m a watercolourist so this was right up my little street 😊 A tip for you is to get a metal palette or tin etc so you can put a blob of your watercolours into the little pans. That way nothing is wasted because watercolour can be reinvigorated with water. 🎨 I think that grey palette you got would be good for acrylics. Gouache can go into pans in a tin too 🥰 I remember you getting the Qor watercolours too and that was an awesome video as well…🌟 I’ll have to update your page in my field journal if colour palettes because this desert theme is stunning 🎨💜🌟

Hey Rin! Love this video. Wanted to leave a suggestion for using watercolours. Something I really like to do is a "splat" or "spill" on my canvas and just kind of let the paints do it's thing, and then when it's dry you go over it with pen or more watercolours/acrylics and just kind of turn whatever shapes you see into whatever you think they look like. It's kind of like looking at clouds and seeing which clouds look like what, but you get to sort of control what you see in it. I really like this technique because not only does it give you a lot of freedom but it also doesn't give you too much freedom to the point that you don't know what to draw. And also you start with a big paint splatter on your canvas so there's no chance of having a fear of the blank page problem. Anyways, I'm sure it's been suggested before, but I thought I'd let you in on my thoughts just in case! Love to see you getting a hang of these art supplies, seems like you've almost mastered a lot of them! (And even fully mastered some.) Love ya art buddy!! ❤💖💗 PS. It is currently 2AM while writing this so ignore any poor english or confusing sentences...I tried!! 😂

Wow. Those are awesome. And the crisp white edges are just *muah* and kind of make them look straight out of like...a movie or video game book...I can't recall the type...I believe they're called the official art books or whatever? That's what your watercolor looks like 🔥🔥🔥

That seems like a great way to practice with watercolors if you're a little impatient. Just do separate pieces at the same time, then while one is drying, you can work on the others! I will probably give that a try, too =)

That's exactly what I do!, not only with sketches, but with every painting I do, hehe. Now my problem is that I constantly forgot one piece over here and there, need to get better on that.

These are sooo cool!! I love watercolors even though they can be a pain to work with, it takes a lot of practice and patience (the latter of which I don't always have, lol) but dayum do they give you such a cool end result.
