Robin is such an important character for me, I felt so related to her about having a horrible past... the only thing I had back there was watching One Piece in my room, I highly appreciate this series, because I feel like she deserves it, and she is such a great character

I always found it interesting that Robin's devil fruit is the Hana-Hana no Mi, though I could never understand why Oda chose that fruit. Not until I heard a song from Yuyoyuppe in the song "Significance of Existence", did it kind of make sense to me. "何も無い所に咲く花のように ただ強く" Like a flower blooming from nothing, simply strong. Or something like that. Not to say that this song has anything to do with One Piece or Robin, but at least to me, Robin having the Hana-Hana no Mi is a testament to her strength and resolve to survive even in the most hostile environment, and the most hostile circumstances. Great video!

This 34 minutes shows how deeply Oda cared about crafting possibly the most important character in terms of finding the One Piece. Robin alone shows how much care and effort he puts into the story

I got here by chance, but I will watch all the parts of this. Robin is my favorite character in OP, and probably in fiction, and it is really refreshing to see well written female characters in the shone genre (since it is not very common, unfortunately for us women). I really like your video, and looking back, it is true that almost every single dialogue Robin has in Alabasta is tied to what we discover later. The only thing I don't fully agree is that she's lying when she says she's an assassin. It is true that we don't see her kill anyone in the series, but I think that has to do with two reasons: the first one is that Oda does have a problem handling death (very few people die outside flashbacks), and the second one is that it is a problem to show a protagonist explicitly killing "good" people in a story with the light tone and demographic target that is/has One Piece. I hope you get to comment much more in the next ones and that you'll keep on with this! And sorry about my bible here

I personally don’t think she was lying. She has the kit suitable for Assasinations and some of the Strawhats had to do what seemed to be evil to survive. She didn’t want to live that life anymore as she was more than just an assassin or a person that could read Poneglyphs and only the Strawhats saw her as Nico Robin and not the devil child. She also probably has the highest body count in the crew next to Zoro due to her crippling methods for combat.

Great analysis! I hope you get to finish this character study - she's such a good person, and the poneglyph aspect of the show is probably my favorite, including Robin's role with them. Looking forward to the rest. Making videos like these can be daunting, but relax take your time and know that you've got this!

This was amazing. And the amount of work put into this - crazy. This really verbalizes a lot of aspects of why I was drawn to Robin as a character since practically Whiskey Peak, though I never really went back, even during rereads, to really go this indepth - thank you very much!

Robin laughing at Luffy’s silliness was a sign that he was the boy who brought people joy. Robin definitely saw something in Luffy which made her want to follow him.

Whhhaattt!? An entire channel dedicated to my favorite girl Nico Robin!?!?!?! That's gonna be an instant subscribe from me dawg. Seriously tho, I feel like we need to talk MORE about Robin! Her character is a lot deeper than it has any right being, and everytime she reverts back to a childlike state because she feels so safe with the Straw Hats it heals a part of my inner child as well 😭😭😭. She's such a good depiction of someone forced to grow up too fast. So far I've really been enjoying the questions and comments you bring up during the recap. You made me wonder if she was messing with them on the boat because she was curious about the D. Lol, like she had clearly heard of Luffy, I could see her giving them the log pose to see if he would continue to rush towards danger or if he would choose something safe. As well as the fact that WAS really quiet with Crocodile! That's not like her! With the Straw Hats she's always pointing out little details that didn't seem right, but with Crocodile she says nothing! I always found it funny how traderous she was with Crocodile, almost directly to his face at times, but it went even deeper than I had realized lol. She really is a menace.

Openings are one the most expensive part of an anime. Those creating anime are up there with manga with have stressful and overworked they are. Though, "Why didn't they just create openings for after Robin joined?: sounds like an easy task. With barely a week to storyboard, animate, voice over, sound effects, visual effects, and edit all within budget it amazes me they even everything done. Animated shows are more expensive and harder to produce than live action, Now, as a content creator I'm sure P. Seeker understands this a lot better,

26:12 I think there is a deeper reason why she used the word crime specifically. We know from later that she believes her existence is a crime so the fact that Luffy saved her life (extended her existence) makes her existence Luffy's crime as well. Yes she sees herself as a burden but I don't think that's what the scene is trying to depict here. She genuinely believes that Luffy saving her life is a bad thing because she's conditioned to believe as a child that living is a bad thing and that the world would be better off without her.

Great analysis! I love how oda, despite making so many characters, gave many and meaningful hidden intricacies on important characters. It's a writing masterpiece that he swapped vivi with robin as the new addition to the crew!

before timeskip: NOTHING after timeskip: she became dumb like the rest of straw hats
@DavidMadrigalHernandez

I mean, honestly, I’m personally ok with that. Robin being vulnerable enough to become just as dumb and child-like as Luffy (i.e sharing thought processes [represented as thought bubbles] with Luffy, her like of cute, albeit morbid l, things, etc) is just a sign of her having grown away from the life she once led. Which, if we’re being honest, is an incredible amount of growth.

Nah bro, Robin is for sure an assassin 😂 it's just played off since psycical damage rarely has an effect in One Piece. It it did she would have left a sea of bodies in her wake, if not completely dead, those people would be paralyzed fully for life!
