@@ANAVision Actually no. I'm talking about people uploading a flat video as identical left/right eye to stand out and get views. A good example is this channel " EuroVisionary". I find this very sad because there are other channels on youtube that have actual depth (AI or stereo camera).

@@pieplay I agree, It certainly is a shame when the depth is missing in 3D videos. I've had a look at the EuroVisionary channel you make mention of and found that there is very little depth in the stage videos that I have sampled (Example: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKLIlXikaNx7Y9E), their interview videos appear to be okay (kzbin.info/www/bejne/l4vIiq16Z8SmmLs). The distance from the stage I believe is the issue - at that distance and zoom level the cameras need to be separated further to produce a visible 3D effect. Would be interested to know, do you have any other examples?

@@ANAVision I've checked out that video, although I don't see it well using gimp I was able do find depth in the picture. So my apologies to EuroVisionary. I found another video: Rohan Kamble (London has fallen kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJ2QhIBvZ5iqmJo ) that I verified with gimp to be flat. On anaglyph it's very noticeable if the furthest and closest objects diverge at the same rate.

The Lume Pad does support both mkv and mp4 video files. It has a USB-C port and you can transfer the files from PC to the Lume Pad via this connection and then play them using the LeiaPlayer.

I'd like to read my text in 3D. In IDEs, terminal emulators, text editors and web browsers. Is there something like this in the app store? It sure is easier to do than in Oculus home environment on Quest.

@Timur Timak, can you clarify what you mean by reading text in 3D? Are you looking for an app where the fonts set is 3D? or the window is in 3D space?

@@ANAVision Yeah, we see letters because of their contrast with the background they are on. Usually it is the brightness contrast - black ink on white paper - very harsh on eyes on computer screens. For some time I try to use the color contrast more, with green and blue - the chill, soothing colors. I try to keep my working environments bright, cheers you up a lot, you know, and the human eye is more sensitive to colors when it is bright. I use text-to-speech yet I wonder if I can use the stereoscopic cues to relieve the retinas of my eyes even more. In VR space no one seems to pay much attention to text, apart from Simula VR maybe. Leia sells it more as a video consumption device, I think I'll be using it more for productivity. So seeing clear text in 3D would help a lot.

How well does this work with lytro photos?

@acem77 I believe that all one needs to do is add a _2x1.jpg suffix to the file and the Lume Pad would then recognise the SBS format of the Lytro .jps file. I don't have a Lytro myself (yet), but I gather this from reading the LeiaLoft Forum here: forums.leialoft.com/t/combining-the-use-of-my-lytro-illum-with-the-lumepad/922. I'm quite willing to try this out for you if you send me a jps file from your camera if you like (my contact details are on the channel about page). I'm even considering getting a Lytro myself as I would love to explore what it can do. Do you think it's worth getting?

@@ANAVision I am hoping their is something this frame can do with the depth map. Be a little more enhanced over sbs 2d. It would be cool if it support Tof camera depth info also like the camera in note 10. If you like enhanced photography there is some fun to be had with the lyto cameras. Don't get the small one as once the internal battery dies it's over and not easy to replace. This happened to mine. I have the ILLUM now.

@acem77 Hey, thanks for getting back to me on the Lytro camera. I think I'll take your advice and stick to getting a ILLUM. As for the extra functionality you are looking for on the Lume Pad, you can actually do more than just SBS. If you can extract 4 views instead of 2 (SBS) from the Lytro camera, then you can view the images in full light field mode on the Lume Pad. You just need to provide the images as a 2x2 grid and use the suffix _2x2.jpg (instead of the _2x1 for SBS). I think this should be possible using SPM (have a look at comment by Johan in the forum link I provided earlier).

Ich fotografiere sehr viel in S3D aber habe seit kurzem auch ein Looking Glas Portait Lightfield Display und möchte dafür mit einer Schiene Lightfield Fotosets erstellen .Würde ich die auch auf dem Lume Pad betrachten können?

Ich vermute, dass Steuern und Belieferung jetzt sich geandert haben, da sich der Preis gegenüber dem Kauf vor einem Jahr geändert hat und ich auch in Australien wohne. Wenn man Bilder für das Looking Glass Portrait erstellt, sollte man diese auch für den Lume Pad verwenden können. Für das Looking Glass Portrait würde man bis zu 48 Ansichten (Bilder) erzeugen, Man benötigt nur 4 davon für den Lume Pad, um ein sogenanntes 4V Lightfield-Bild (4-Ansichten-Bild) zu erzeugen. Ich mache was ähnliches, aber statt einer Schiene habe ich den Edelkrone DollyOne gekauft.

These videos are paid reviews - it's a lenticular 3D screen which does 640x400 per eye in 3D. Slightly better than a New 3DS XL but on a larger 10.8" lenticular display. LightField is SalesSpeak for Lenticular - you can see the 3D on a lenticular display at a handful of angles but it might be upside-down or diagonal.
