It was already known that Commissioner Redeker had an adversarial relationship with Chief Faaumu, which would later be documented with the Maui County Board of Ethics. Chief Faaumu was eventually railroaded into early retirement on April 30th, by Maui Police Commissioner Mark Redeker and the Executive Officer of the Honolulu Police Commission James Yuen. Mark Redeker also attempted to terminate Faaumu's retirement benefits, but the Commission voted against doing so, with Redeker being the only vote against Faaumu retiring in good standing.

This was a violation of the Maui County Charter, Article 10, Code of Ethics Provision regarding the disclosure of confidential information.
During the month of August 2021, after the August 25, 2021 Police Commission meeting, Commissioner Redeker did travel to Las Vegas and did meet with then Las Vegas Metro Police Department Captain John Pelletier which is conduct that is questionable at best not to mention hints of being unethical.
An investigation needs to be conducted to determine whether this meeting occurred and statements from both Commissioner Redeker and Pelletier to explain why this was not revealed needs to be done separately to avoid any collusion by them.
As you would know, any meeting between a Commissioner and a candidate regardless of its intent is unethical during the selection period especially if the other candidates weren't given the same considerations. This is a violation of the Maui County Code of Ethics which ultimately affected the outcome of the selection of the Chief of Police.
This paved the way for Pelletier (the hiring authority) to have the HRS resident requirement waived. This is not coincidental. This is another example of unethical behavior. Not being familiar with local government procedures, Pelletier again must have had inside information regarding the waiving of the HRS resident requirement, abusing the system.

I’m from Honolulu but lived West Side Maui for 10 years. For you to get people on the record is remarkable. People don’t understand, Maui roots people basically live hand to mouth in mostly hospitality jobs. And then to bring in a sociopath like Pelletier is soooo dangerous. I remember the first presser he did, saying “we just didn’t see this coming.” I almost threw my TV out the window!! My son went to Lahainaluna, and the whole situation was traumatic, my voice disappeared. I was actually on the phone with old friends in Wahikuli that morning, by the afternoon, I was sending them news stories about the fire - they HAD NO INFORMATION!! F**k Pelletier, Mayor Bissen, Fire Chief and Andaya - all should be in JAIL!! If I was traumatized, there are no words to actually describe what West side people experienced. It’s indescribable. Frankly, “fishing for housing” is a joke. There needs to be actual outrage from people. Take away profits and make demands with righteous activism. It's not waste, it is called forensic evidence, remember Pelletier said that he was using a guy from a 9/11 organization to help.him? Well back in 9/11/2001, right after the Three towers collapsed, all the "debris" and "toxic waste" was immediately hauled away and the steel was supposedly shipped to China. Later a fire investigator said that they were unable to finish their investigation because all the forensic evidence had been hauled away. Traci... look into a case that went to the Supreme Court around 20 years ago. It was an eminent domain issue in Connecticut where a holdout was forced to sell their beachfront property to developers because it would benefit the town. After years of battling, I think that ultimately they DID lose their house. And the kicker is that the development never happened and that whole area became a vacant wasteland. Not sure what's become of it now. All this is by memory, but it was in CT and it did expand the government's use of eminent domain land grabs.

I have been asking for comments and critiques of Pelletiers After Action Report, but Traci is just about the only one who commented on you Tube (See Lone Wolf) Jeremy Lee and retired MPD Officer, William Hankens, commented asking why the report is missing one of the most important issues, An Evacuation Plan! Pelletier attacked KITV4 over Jeremy's reporting of Barricading. I have waited and waited for critique so I'm now doing my own, been commenting on this and Kahua Camp Situation. The televised after action report was extremely difficult to follow because it went too fast, had poor unclear charts and maps That had no clear Street names and the presentation on timeline of events was fast, streamed from one point to another, and there was no way the viewer could get oriented (especially IF you are not local and are not familiar with Town) then the terms Mauka -makai were disorienting, IF one does not understand those terms, one has to go on internet find a street map, study that, and then study the report time line. Complicated and timely process. then one must realize, The author of this report is Pelletier who is a liar so then you don't have anything to really go on! All the downed Power Poles and lines and trees obstructing roads and Hwy 30, has not been documented or VERIFIED by HECO or Public works or Fire Dept. Why was Hwy 30, the main evacuation route out closed down from 5:52 am-on for 10 Hoors??? Why wasn't it maintained Cleared and open??? This is why People died, From Road Blocks and Barricading causing Gridlock! this is part of the reason Kahua Camp People got gridlocked and trapped in because they could not enter gridlocked Lahaina Luna Road because Hwy 30 was shut down and People had to be directed onto Front Street. So about 50 People needlessly died on Kahua Street! Public needs a good strong clear explanation with clear maps to understand what happened . according to Pelletier, but we're still dealing with a Liar, so his report is probably not a good honest reference to abide by! That report is "His" explanation and only "His " So who knows what happened. the report Being sent throughout the whole U.S. has holes! and Lots of them. The New York Times puts out a video on timeline of events for maui Fire which helps. But it's the Truth and nothing but the whole truth is what we need.......and then Let the prosecution begin! You also from the pause can’t see if the Chief got out of his vehicle and moved the motorcycle so he wouldn’t hit it. What you do see is him pulling away.
