What I want to see from the next elder scrolls in general is a heavily reworked combat system, and I'll explain what I mean. Firstly, I think the fighting itself should have a lot more flow to it, sort of like the straight sword fighting you see in the dishonored series. In this system, everything would be much faster (INCLUDING two handed weapons because realistically you can swing a greatsword as fast or faster than a one-handed arming sword) and much more deadly. There would always be a block control even if you're dual-wielding, and like you said, there would also be a dodge mechanic (block would also have to completely negate all damage received from a weapon attack, because realism, and the block skill would involve making blocks faster, and the perks would let you do cool stuff like blocking magic with shields and deflecting arrows with weapons). Magic casting would be similar to oblivion, where you have one or maybe two controls where you can map specific spells, and you can cast them even with two of your hands occupied (this would be the same for powers as well). Also, as far as the Ansei go, I personally think they would be a perfect part of the plot, but to balance the potential over-powered nature of their spirit sword, it would need to have its own skill tree, wherein it starts as something simple and heavily underpowered, like an iron sword, and as you level the skill, the blade not only gets more powerful, but also becomes customizable down to fine point details. I can see later level perks allowing you to add enchantments to the weapon up to a possible maximum of three at tier 100. This is honestly something they should've done with the thu'um in skyrim, and I have no idea why they didn't. Love the videos man, you're the best loremaster on youtube.

On the topic of magic in Hammerfell, what if for once we got an 'evil' Mages Guild. Perhaps the only people in Hammerfell so brash and foolish to continue practicing magic might NOT be made up of the most moral cast of faces.On the flip side, Hammerfell might see the Thieves/Pirates Guild as being legal, so that would be an interesting flip. Also, I hope that climbing might return (It was a very old feature back in ES2:Daggerfall) in the form of Acrobatics, bringing back two sills at once. Imagine parkouring across buildings Mirror's Edge style while running from town guards and singing 'One Jump Ahead' from Aladdin.

Skyrim's skill tree system is great. Compare it to morrowind where your skill in something literally just determined your chance to hit/cast.. it didnt do anything else at all. Then in oblivion all you got was basically 3 perks per skill, whereas in skyrim you get dozens of perks per skill
@Sul_Haren6 жыл бұрын
King Rafklazan More skills? Skyrim has 18 and Morrowind has 27... Skyrim also removed all attributes, reputation, an abundance of spells, like levitation, slowfall, boosting attributes (jump fast travel ftw) or waterwalking. Skyrim has scaling loot and enemies, which is a no go for an RPG. You can join the College of Winterhold and become Archmage with only casting one spell, while in Morrowind you could only advance in a guild if you had the right skills. The only thing more complex about Skyrim are the perks and the combat is slightly more complex, but still far from good and it also lost a lot of complexity to not being stamina based anymore and the removal of spell crafting.
@viysnjor48116 жыл бұрын
"More skills? Skyrim has 18 and Morrowind has 27..." As I said in my previous comment, every skill in Skyrim has an entire perk tree associated with it.. furthermore they pruned some of the less useful skills and merged others (such as mercantile and speechcraft, long blade, short blade, blunt, axe etc all rolled into one handed or two handed which I don't mind as a change, rip spear though ;-;) whereas in Morrowind it literally just determines your success chance "Skyrim also removed all attributes" I can see why some people consider this a bad thing.. personally I don't mind its absence in Skyrim, I'm of the neither approve nor disapprove camp for this change "reputation" Which was largely irrelevant, fame in Skyrim is based on what you've actually done now and is a hidden thing "an abundance of spells, like levitation, slowfall, boosting attributes (jump fast travel ftw) or waterwalking." There is a lack of spells in Skyrim, I agree. It's a bit disappointing that we have to rely on mods to remedy that,so I hope they do better with that in ES VI. That said, levitation was removed simply because it wouldn't work with the current engine. In morrowind cities were all outdoors and connected with the outside world, in Oblivion and Skyrim the engine changed, and cities have to be confined as their own interior cells otherwise it will put a ton of unnecessary stress on the engine and on the computers running it. Slowfall really could've been kept in game, especially for mountainous skyrim, same with waterwalking. Boosting attributes though is missing because there are no attributes to boost "Skyrim has scaling loot and enemies, which is a no go for an RPG." You realize Morrowind had scaling loot and enemies too, right? You start out finding nothing but iron weapons and petty soul gems in chests, and fighting scribs, kwama foragers and scamps. then by level 20 you would be finding grand soul gems constantly, tons of silver and dwemer weapons, and youd be fighting hordes of nix hounds, alits, kagoutis, dremora lords, golden saints, winged twilights etc. The myth that morrowind was 100% unscaled is just that, a myth. Only Oblivion was entirely scaled, which was dumb so they changed it. Skyrim still wasn't perfect on that front, but they seem to have learned that based on fallout 4, which I think had just the right balance between leveled and unleveled content. "You can join the College of Winterhold and become Archmage with only casting one spell, while in Morrowind you could only advance in a guild if you had the right skills." Yeah, I do think this should change. It's not like you can't become a god of everything eventually anyway, so you'd always be able to complete every questline if youre a completionist, but changing this would make it more immersive for those who prefer sticking to their chosen role. "The only thing more complex about Skyrim are the perks and the combat is slightly more complex, but still far from good and it also lost a lot of complexity to not being stamina based anymore and the removal of spell crafting." The combat is much more complex mate.. Morrowind's combat is *literally* just hidden dice rolls. Did you forget having less than 70 skill in a weapon, where you miss almost every bloody strike? There was no nuance to the combat in Morrowind, no matter how nostalgic it feels. Also what do you mean it not being stamina based? In skyrim, if you run out of stamina, you cant power attack, you cant block without being staggered, and you cant chain quick attacks.. all it did in morrowind was make your already atrocious hit chance even worse. I will agree that the lack of spell crafting is disappointing, but I think that has something to do with every spell in Skyrim being self contained, each with their own visual effects and such. I hope they can find a way to make it work in ES VI though.
@Sul_Haren6 жыл бұрын
Viy Snjór How come that I already meet Dremora with level 1 on some Morrowind regions or Dwemer loot when I visit Dwemer dungeons, while normal mines or caves just contain iron weapons and bandits in Netch Leather armor with level 20 something? If there was any scaling in Morrowind it must have been very minor in comparison to Skyrim. Morrowind's combat system is based on dice rolls that are influenced by the weapon skill, various attributes, your stamina, the agility skill of your enemy and his armor. With only heavy attacks and block bashing consuming stamina in Skyrim it is far easier to manage. As said, Morrowind's combat system is far from perfect, but it's not like Skyrim's is far more complex. Oblivions combat system with stamina consuming light attack and stamina decreasing damage instead of hitting chance would be perfect. Every spell having their own visual effect is nice and all, but nothing that should lead to the removal of such a big gameplay system as spell crafting. Reputation in Skyrim is completely irrelevant as it only affects random voice lines, which is immersive but that's it. In Morrowind reputation affected you disposition with every NPC and there was also a hidden guild reputation that would affect the disposition of every guild member of the different guilds. Disposition is another skill that's gone in Skyrim, which makes the speechcraft skill almost useless. different skill lines merging into one also takes complexity, no matter if you see it as good change or not. And my whole argument was that the statement: "Skyrim is more complex than Morrowind" is not true, unless we talk about graphic and AI systems.
@WadeAllen0016 жыл бұрын
All of that sounds awesome. Some other things I’d like to see in the next game: Improved AI (making creatures act more naturally for immersion and interacting with people through dialogue and for more difficult, reactive combat), persistent changes in the world to a greater extent than a few guards recognizing your deeds (like a city being destroyed after a quest line), some new crafting (like wood working, cutting down trees and making shields, houses, staves, wands, boats, etc) and an improved method of crafting as well (rather than just collecting some iron and leather and your press a button to make a dagger, having to actually craft that dagger yourself, perhaps through some mini game (pouring the metal and hammering it into shape) and the quality of the item depending on how well you do).
@YoungTroy236 жыл бұрын
I always personally pictured Hammerfell to be something like Africa which has wildly varying climate and environments. And the harshness of Hammerfell could be just a very wild exaggeration by those who aren’t used to the environment. Take Skyrim for example. The whole of Skyrim was described as an practically unlivable frozen wasteland yet we see giant forests and farmland(greatly expanded on with mods). I suspect to see similar in Hammerfell where it’s not just sand dunes but also exotic forests or at least some fertile areas. After all you can’t grow food out of sand(unless you’re a Telvanni wizard).
@Oxtocoatl135 жыл бұрын
There is absolutely no reason why a desert map should be bland or uninteresting. To me it seems like it would be quite easy to hide very interesting things just below the surface: ruins buried in sand are an obvious one, but what if the sands actually shifted and some places could randomly appear at random points after a sandstorm. A desert would also have Oases that could be intensely contested by different groups. It would also be interesting if there were moving caravans that you could join or loot. In the Kalahari there is a huge cave with a vast underground lake that's just deep enough to be out of reach for all the desert creatures. Something similar with maybe underwater ruins would be perfect to explore.

Peter Hansen This argument of sizes is oretty annoying and dumb af. Every Single title scaled provinces down (except maybe Daggerfall). That's like saying that Skyrim has to be smaller than Cyrodiil because it's smaller on the maps. Bethesda can scale provinces up and down as they want and as they already did in the past.
@Mechadude326 жыл бұрын
Peter Hansen I wouldn't mind a scaled down world if there's a lot to do.
@MrGeneralPB6 жыл бұрын
the trouble comes when you try to shrink both high rock and hammerfell to something you can ride across in an hour or two, where is the sense of scale then? skyrim felt like a shitty back of the woods place you could ride across in an hour, the cities nothing more than a hamlet at their very largest, no sense of grandeur or scale, yes there is a lot of stuff there, but all of it crammed into 40x40 km, so even if they expand the engine to twice or even four times that size they are still going to run head first right into the wall called console capabilities which will be the hard limit to where they can take es6...
@demigodgamer85176 жыл бұрын
Maybe we should consider load zones then. Even if it's just splitting High Rock and Hammerfell at the border, that could greatly improve the possibilities of map size. Also, Fallout 4 was slightly smaller than Skyrim, and we're being told that 76 will be 4x that. So I'm saying Falllout 76 is three times the size of Skyrim. Roughly. That's what current tech is capable of. If 8th gen can make games 3 times as large as Skyrim, who is to say that 9th gen couldn't make games 5 or 6 times as large.

I would much prefer to play in the Hammerfell setting, especially if it is anywhere like described in this video. The Ansei sword-singers would really be the coolest thing for me personally because I LOVE that kind of magic mixed with swordsmanship kind of gameplay. The lore surrounding that kind of stuff is my cup of tea. Plus the similarities to the Jedi order make me even more hyped. I'm imagining a sick rivalry between two opposing Ansei orders. Like playing the Star Wars the old republic MMORPG and playing through the conflicts that take place between the Jedi order and the Sith, but set in the Elder Scrolls series in Hammerfell. Like come on you can't say that's not freaking awesome Side comment To make a Hammerfell vs High Rock setting comparison to GOT: Elderscrolls High Rock would be like Westeros and the gameplay could be similar to the stories that we see there. Elderscrolls Hammerfell would almost be like a mix between Dorn in the south and places across the narrow sea such as slaver's bay and similar locations. Settlements that exist on the edges of endless wastelands and deserts, bandits and pirates and theives are all over the place and not as secretive.

Yes, I don't think they just... removed the Redguard inhabitants from the city, but I can imagine there's some occupying population, and they could have built a proper, Summerset-like school of magic. Alternatively, if we get to go to Balfiera, maybe we get to learn magic from the Direnni.
@Geraduss6 жыл бұрын
Don't forget that Redguards don't HATE magic they just think its a weak mans tool, BUT they do respect healing arts so temples and religious factions that use magic is an option to.
@Altrantis6 жыл бұрын
Redguards aren't any more magical than nords are, and the college of winterhold has barely any nords in it. It'd make more sense if the magic school was NOT redguard in nature, specially since if it is, the magic will be a very small part of the game.

Hmm...blade singing would be a really cool thing to add, (if this becomes real, it's deffinitly going to be used in my first playthrough) but I don't think it should be integral or even necessary for the main story. If you were to give bladesinging to the main character no matter what, it's kinda feel like shouting from Skyrim, no matter what kind of character or class you play as, you'll always have the super powerful warrior based ability that almost no one else can use. Now, if they were to give it it's own questline or even integrate it into the warriors guild, that would be super cool!

Great video, I'd like to make a point about why I think elder scrolls 6 will be set in hammerfell and not a combination of it and high rock. A lot of people have been saying that if the proposed camera angle in the trailer was true, we would be able to see areas of high rock beyond the sea in the distance, which is true. However, think about it; Bethesda wouldn't want to show areas that wouldn't be accessable in the trailer so as to not disappoint people If they had been looking forward to exploring those areas. Because of this, if you choose to believe that the land in the trailer is indeed hammerfell which I strongly believe, it is probably ONLY going to take place there and not high rock too.

Sounds like having both Hammerfell & High Rock in the game (possibly as warring provinces) could be awesome. High Rock could be like the last bastion of the Empire (much like the British being one of the last legions of the Roman empire), magic vs sword, and both provinces are usually not centrally governed so on either of the sides you choose you’d have to somehow unite them. Also, I’m thinking the game could start in a ship sailing between the two giving you a chance to where to start your game and have that greatly influence the rest of the game. You should do a video about how a game featuring both would be, what sort of storylines (maybe the brass God returns?) but I’m pretty sure the tower will play a central part, game style options, etc.

Your vision for Elder Scrolls VI sure does appeal to me, HFM. Except in one regard: Dodging? Really? Dodging always ends up looking cartoonish. Always. I hated dodging in Witcher 3, and I won't even play JRPGs because it's such an overblown, cartoonish combat mechanic. I like the Elder Scrolls stealth mechanics, bows and crossbows, and head-on hand-to-hand combat. I know that's just my preference, and that others may simply adore bouncing from screen left to screen right in two tenths of a second, but I'd rather train hard on smithing and enchantment, upgrade my weapons and armor, and plow straight ahead. I'm not a US Marine, but their unofficial motto, 'Hey diddle diddle, straight up the middle!' is sufficiently macho to appeal to my testosterone-fueled self. Complaining about cartoonish gameplay is silly in the context of an RPG game, of course. I know that. I just draw the line a bit more restrictively; it's an aesthetic matter. But a big draw of the Elder Scrolls games, for me, has always been that it's *less* cartoonish than JRPGs. Or Witcher. Or whatever crap Bioware has descended to lately. That's my only complaint about your vision. The rest - yeah, bring it. Sea combat, working cannons, underground mages' guild, the story lines you outlined... it all sounds fantastic! Do us a favor, and go get yourself hired by Bethesda, mkay? :-)

While I did enjoy this throughly, I do think you may have undermined the role the Forebears could play. The Crowns certainly wouldn't just upend centuries of Forebear rule and culture, so we could very well see tensions between the two take center stage, just not as a civil war as in Skyrim. More squabbling houses and city-states. Taneth potentially being still occupied in some way is also something worth mentioning. As for the threat, it could emerge in the Ansei themselves, after all it was Sword-Singing that destroyed Yokuda. With the resurgence of Sword-Singing, the threat of the Pankratosword being rediscovered and perhaps a cabal of Sword-Singers seeking to do just that could be the driving threat.
@HelloFutureMe6 жыл бұрын
I *really* love the idea of the story being about simultaneously bringing back to ancient holy order, while it *also* acting as the main threat. They could do some really interesting thematic stuff with the Pankratosword! I would've gotten more into the Crowns vs Forebears relationship, but alas, time was of the essence. It's likely there would still be at least one or two Crown cities. ~ Tim

I feel like an expansion on the Sword-Singers (specifically stuff similar to the Ansei) abilities could be interesting to play through if the game is set in Hammerfell with the Sword-Singers order (or new adversarial orders) being resurrected in the game and playable by the character. For example, Skyrim did have the power of the shouts as a semi-rare ability that was mostly used by the character but also by other characters/creatures. What if the character in this was like a "new breed" so to speak, of Sword-Singer that started happening during this resurgence of them that allowed them to do more than just what they did. (Note: Not saying I suggest making the character be the only one like this, just one of the few present in-game) I don't know how know how well that'd work with trying to separate it from the schools of magic and from the shouts of Skyrim to be a unique thing while still maintaining that mystical, powerful, rare vibe, but being able to progress with it and shape how the powers of it work to fit the character's playstyle could be interesting if they do that.

I have an idea as to how this could all go down as a storyline, I don't know what questline it would be but it's just a suggestion and obviously someone needs to polish this more because I'm not a master story teller; Most of Tamriel (I say that because maybe this all takes place during the Skyrim civil war or something like that) is at peace, and an unknown person living in Cyrodiil is prosecuted for worship of Talos by the Thalmor. They are supposed to be taken by ship to Alinor, but the ship is raided and seized by Redguard pirates. All of the Thalmor (not all high elves, specifically Thalmor) aboard are killed by the pirates because Redguards obviously hate the Thalmor. You know, attempted invasion of southern Hammerfell and all that. All of the prisoners on board are taken to mainland Hammerfell. While in prison, a group of rebellious prisoners make a plan to escape from the pirates. The player hears this and asks to join. The ringleader of these rebels asks the player who they are[insert race, gender, appearance, etc. here, preferably Redguard because why not]. After a successful escape, maybe they fight some pirates and take their gear, idk, they agree to disperse and then begins the game in its earnest. At some point, the player joins the Hammerfell military and does missions, trains for battle, etc. until suddenly the 2nd Great War begins between The Empire and the Aldmeri Dominion. The player and several other people are requested to be diplomats. This group of diplomats splits in half with one half wanting to declare war on the Thalmor, and the other on the Empire. The player decides to join either side and the group declares war on the side the player picked. Then, two nights before the group is supposed to set out to do diplomacy stuff, the player is kidnapped by a group of people trying to establish an elite group dedicated to the old ways of swordplay and stuff. The player is recruited into this group, and then they go do diplomacy stuff. Comment additional ideas if you have any, sorry that this had to be so long 😂😂😂

I'd buy that 😂😂 oh, and I hope Bethesda actually goes through with what older players are suggesting about gameplay where they make it so you actually have to pay attention and not just follow objective markers. That doesn't have anything to do with the story, but if they can pull it off and not put off all the newer players that would be absolute perfection 👌

Theory for TES6 "The Last Yokudan" (TLY) It will take place after a war similar to the colony war of Starfield. Thet might integrate Starfield systems like traits and backgrounds as classes, choosing if you were a crown or forebear smt like that. The thalmor will be the main villains. The player will "unify" the crowns and forebears, with the player having personal beliefs and favorites. TLY will be a hortator/inciting figure who brings back old traditions to forge a new future for hammerfell with their shehai. I don't really know if I like it but I think its the most likely. I'll still love it tho cuz I love Skyrim.

I can't help but wonder if the Elder Scrolls VI is set in BOTH Daggerfall and Hammerfell, and is centered on a now reformed Daggerfall Covenent, fighting for independence from a ruthless Aldmeri Dominion and the crumbling remains of the Empire in a war of independence storyline while the main quest has the player fighting off a Deadric Prince, I'm thinking Vermina, goddess of nightmares and lies. Both the Covenent and the Dominion were both in game factions introduced by the Elder Scrolls Online, set about seven hundred years before the other games, and both factions were probably absorbed by the Empire during Tiber Septem's rise to the throne. Also, this Swordsinger storyline could be this game's fighter's guild stand in the way the Companions storyline was for the Elder Scrolls V.

I'd like to imagine this taking place right after/close to the events of Skyrim and you still play as the Dragonborn. I mean, there's still more to be done for the madman, who else would be better qualified for taking down the Thalmor? I also don't think they would scrap the shouting system so easily (then again, they scrapped an entire school of magic once). Of course, this could just be me hoping for the impossible but I think it would be cool to play as the Dragonborn again. At the very least, I want to know what happened to the Dragonborn after Skyrim as they are an extremely important figure and wild card in the series as the last dragonborn before them was Martin Septim, so it would be interesting to figure out where it takes our shouting hero.

I have two interesting plot ideas for TES6 Hammerfell: 1) You are a shehai, first of his kind in this area. You are deeply welcomend and nearly worshipped by the crown faction of hammerfell and it's possible to build up your own shehai guild! But the crown faction is the moraly bad descission - they are narrow minded extremist. So, what will be your choice? Befriend the "foe" the forebearers and therefore stab the helpfull and you worshipping crowns in the back or take the easy way to power, go with the extremist and be "evil". 2) You are NOT the shehai but a mere adventurer. While the Shehai emerged and is worshiped in the whole land, about to unite the Crown and Forebearers, he is also evolving as a foe, an extremist, slauthering merciless the nonbelievers and plotting against the empire for his own profit. You are to stop the chosen one or help him to solve the thousand of years of war between both factions but let the population suffer deadly consecuences.
