Alabama fans forget that Nick Saban bolted on the Miami Dolphins if I’m not mistaken in mid season but I guess it was OK because he was coming to Alabama but it’s not OK if someone else does it as well

@@mrh3894 he absolutely called the plays. And if you haven’t noticed the college game plan is what the NFL is now. The huskies didn’t run some trick offense. It was a ton of pre snap motion and pushing the ball downfield.

Ryan Grubb is lucky to have two outstanding QB's to work with. Everyone knows what Geno has to offer but boy will they be shocked to see what Sam Howell brings to the team! He has it all and may have to sit for awhile but not for long. Grubb's offense is right up Howell's alley and he is very smart and will know the entire playbook before training camp starts. He is fully capable of leading any team in the league and was very lucky to escape the nightmare that Washington was last year without a major injury. Seattle fans should go to training camp and see for yourself what he brings to the Table! I have watched every game that Sam has played , both in college and the pro's! He is the real deal! McDaniels also learned that Andrew luck was actually injured and had been dealing with pain for years. Isn’t that a big reason he backed out on the colts?

Grubbs a DeBeor disciple right? He learned to screw teams over and skip out of town for more money. Then try to take as many coaches as you can get to go with you. Kalen should be proud of how well he taught him…

Gotta look at it from Grubb's view it probably was a better situation for him and pressure he didn't wanna hath to deal with so this was the easiest way out if a situation that could of ruined his reputation

@@David-vf7if that's what I meant and he left there for a reason if anything falls short in Alabama due to offense he has the weight on him a lot of kids transferred from Alabama to go else where so why would I deal with the pressure of college when there I a job in the league with decent players and decent head coach

I'll be interested to see how Grubb's offense does in the pros. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the Hawks went o-line in the first round if there's a guy there that they want on the interior. The offensive line at UW the past two years has practically been a brick wall in terms of pass protection, and I imagine Grubb will be looking to achieve that as much and as soon as possible with the Hawks. As far as the whole situation with Grubb and Alabama goes... it's a bit difficult for me to have sympathy for any Alabama fans who are mad about their would-be OC getting poached by an NFL team when their team literally just poached their new head coach from UW, a coach who was actually under a signed contract, a month ago. This is just how the business of sports has been run for decades now. Hirings, firings, signings, commitments and decommitments are a regular part of doing business in sports at the higher levels these days, increasingly so in college football with NIL and transfer portals becoming a thing in the last few years. I can't fault a coach for wanting to take a position that they deem to be better for them and their family, when universities and pro teams won't hesitate to fire those same coaches if they think it's better for the university/team to do so. I can't even really be mad at DeBoer for jumping ship to Alabama with years left on the contract he signed with UW. It's just how it is now.

It was a no brainer. Coach doesn’t have to move his family across the country. Now they can stay where they are and he gets to prove himself in the pros.

Gruff should bring some new looks, not only for the Seahawks but also to the rest of the NFL. Has Gruff signed for the Seahawks yet ? The more I hear coach Macdonald speak, the more I see John Schneiders' attraction. I hate to see Pete go, but he had a great run. If somehow Pete could help in a visible positive way it could only help. I wonder if Pete is going into the media, I think he would be great in the booth. 😊

Grubb hasn't stayed in one spot for more than 2 or 3 years. Is be more concerned that his is a short timer from the get go and will only last 2 years here. Then the Hawks have to start over again. Hopefully he wants to keep his family in one spot for a while or something like that, oh, and can actually succeed at the pro level.

A good coach on the rise often needs to take on more and more difficult challenges. One does not become and NFL HC by being committed for thirty years to a Junior College or HS football program. If Grubb leaves the Seahawks, say after three years, to become an NFL coach somewhere around the NFL, then that would likely mean that he was a very successful OC for the Seahawks while he was here. That should be what Seahawks fans want.

Hey, Grubb did exactly what DeBoer did: he went after the better deal. Don't forget that Deboer bailed out on his contract with the UW. So, why wouldn't Grubb want to move up to the NFL with more money, and also not having the stress of recruiting, and the college player free agency fiasco. Don't blame Grubb for doing the right thing. Cougars are acting like drama queens, commenting on that which is none of their business.

"If you haven't signed the paper, then technically you're not a coach there." False. You might want to educate yourself before giving legal opinions. Stick to football.

The right to contract is one of the most basic of all rights, for it is the only individual right found in the US Constitution rather than say the Bill of Rights. Most oral contracts are difficult to enforce because they are so hard to prove. All offers, acceptances, and considerations must be clear before a contract can be considered valid. A contract is a promise or performance in exchange for a promise or performance on a legal subject matter while not under undue duress, while with a sound mind, etc. A quasi-contract might become the basis for a later finding that a promise should be considered binding, this usually being for detrimental reliance. For example, I say, "I promise to mow your lawn tomorrow," and no consideration was being considered in exchange for that promise. If the other involved person relied upon that promise that I made to mow the lawn had rented a very fancy riding mower to facilitate getting the job done, then I cannot say, without consequences, that I simply changed my mind and am doing something else then instead. In this case, the other person relied upon my promise to their financial detriment and may be able to find redress through quantum meruit, an equitable remedy if the contract can be proved. State laws may vary. Contract law is taught in some business law classes and in first year while in law school. My comment here is not legal advice. I am retired, and I no longer practice law. I could be wrong in this comment. Please consult with a licensed lawyer if you have a legal issue rather than trust someone like me who is popping off at seeming nonsense typed in a comment. Try to enforce a multi-million dollar seeming contract before both parties have signed the document and see how far one gets. It is hard to give legal advice when the law will often depend on the particular facts involved. In general, though, if one has not signed a contract, then that person is not under contract even if both sides have expectations about signing. In the NFL, some players each year sign future contracts to get that player under contract with a team at a time when it is not allowed under NFL rules to sign that player to an NFL salary contract. The future contract signed is a promise by both sides that a future salary contract will be signed at some time in the future, usually after the NFL annual year begins, which this year starts at 12:01 a.m. ET on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, although unrestricted veteran free agents cannot sign contracts until 4:00 p.m. ET on March 13, 2024. If you know something different about the law, then please share it because I would like to see it. I am retired about six years now, and, for all that I know, the world that I used to function within might have changed its laws.
