I think about this all the time. Millenial’s era was great because there was a respect for the previous legends that paved the way. So much homage was paid. Even the songs that weren’t sampling still carried the spirit of the past forward in some way.

All ya have to do is have a few years on the planet guys, however the trick is to enjoy music the whole time. Go back to 80's and 90's movies yall. Watch and listen, the most sampled sound on the planet is James Brown. Not what you would think either. It was his screem! Its in most of the movies from this erra. Most rap from then was either self created using roland, yamaha, and casio gear. Alesis as well. That being said. The rest of tne music was all recreations of Parliment Funkidelic, James Brown, and some other old Motown jams. Remember, most of these guys had no talent, zero musical talent for instruments. Thus enters the d.j.. for yall young'ns, D = disc (record) J = jockie (as in the guy that hauls around plays the music) Records, d.j.'s used other artists songs to create their own. These old songs were all on record, so they were used. Now songs are digitaly copied and some times recreated. But its all a rerun for the most part. Having been a real D.J. as well as making music, half the reason songs are reworked is because 1. It was a good jam. 2. Recognition by the listener. 3. All thats left is to keep the song catchy or whimsy. Instant hit. Im not trying to knock artists efforts, ive liked and found some remakes and stolen loops to be equally enjoyable.

Uhmm "boomers didn't listen to this era of music. What you want to say is gen x'ers. Boomers were watching Lawrence Welk on TV and watching the Sunday televised church service of Dr. Robert Schuller. They're also responsible for treating Elvis Presley like he was some kind of deviant for feeling his music like he did. Boomers are also responsible for this country's stagnation. We would be far more progressed if they never existed! I personally can't wait until the last one is dead and buried! Our great experiment in Democracy could be so much more than it is if they didn't meddle in it. And to be clear that generation got everything handed to them! They did the best drugs, had worry free sex without regard of disease capable of killing them; then they got old; found themselves "religion" and outlawed what they enjoyed growing up! Tom Brokaw considers them "The greatest generation;" but that's him - not me! They can kiss both sides of my ass!

Millennial, but my family but my family played a lot of older music from the 20s through the end of the 80s growing up. Though there was a bias towards Jazz, Motown, R&B and the like. I didn't hear Journey until college and Sweet Caroline freaked me out the first time it came up in a bar. All good days. There is less music sharing in my life these days . :(
