In this video, my pal Henry and I are using a 14 inch monster swimbait in search of HUGE fish! This swimbait is almost one pound, and we are throwing it on huge musky gear.
It takes about 90 minutes and we get a strike for a 100 lb plus monster, and the catch and release of this giant fish on such a lure is SO COOL!
THANK YOU FOR WATCHING, PLEASE LIKE, COMMENT, AND SUBSCRIBE!

@@skippylanoue966 we have some rivers in Florida with alligator gar and sturgeon runs. They aren't as big as the ones in the PNW but they are still huge. I have seen some giants. They are unfortunately illegal to target for even catch and release though. Hopefully the fisheries recover. The gar are also protected but you can at least C&R. The state put a stop to killing them because of the bow fishing community. It's even illegal to kill a grass carp now.

Ty, I truly appreciate you sharing life with us. Took a change of clothes for after Mass this morning and I went to the Santa Fe River in High Springs. Right up the road, and so peaceful. Wisdom 13:1-9 and I love God's wit in the end. I believe that I need to bump up the line to maybe a 20 braid. I'm having 4-6 lbs bass just snap the line on contact. I don't have someone retying my gear and baiting my hooks, and neither do you. 😁 I wish I could send you a picture of the 180 lb'er I snagged at a local lake a few weeks ago. I had to let it go and continue with life. Same week Beachy was hooked 🤔 An hour in the ER and several pieces of treble hooks, and we were good to go 👍 My Dear Mom said that I was rough, tough and hard to diaper. 😅😅 I had physically stop someone to just cut the lure off my face before I drove to the ER. They tried to drive around me and they told me how much it hurt. No duh pumpkin, it already hurts 😏 I was grateful that they were able to get it off, before they drove away like sissies. Try to help whenever you can 👍

Def bump up to higher braid or mono, and make sure you are using the right knot! A mono knot will break on braid ! its too slick and the knots will pull out very easily, try a double uni knot ! Thank ou very much for watching man!

My Dad had a book about fresh water fishing in North America. The book was probably put together in the late 1950’s. This book had beautiful illustrations as well as a few photos of different fresh water fish. That book had photograph in there of two men that had landed an Alligator Gar on the shore. Seeing it’s size in comparison to the men was astounding. From that point on I would dream of catching an Alligator Gar. This great fish seemed like an elusive dragon from a fairytale. My imagination led me to believe anything could be lurking in the mysterious depths of our lakes and rivers. Seeing you handle this great fish took me back in time. The memories of fishing with my Dad and Grandparents came flooding back to me. Maybe one day I’ll get a chance to see one of these Gar up close. Thanks for sharing. Thank you for respecting the great fish.

They were fished to near extinction because they ate lots of game fish, although we now know even their greater numbers back then had no more effect on gamefish populations than pike and musky do up here in da north. That being said, like musky, they probably are ambush predators, and you must've swam that bait close to a sunken log or brush pile, so not so surprising a big predator would snag a big bait.

One night at 2:00am, after checking numerous times at the levy on Cumberland Lake, KY ... my friends and I heard what we were looking for. It sounded like someone was dropping a bowling ball into the water from 3 feet. We pulled out our Penn Salt Water Rod/Reel sets and cast about 18" from the shore. Our 14" hollow plastic lures were working perfectly. On my second cast, I had a monster hit and reeled in the lifeless lure, only to find it had been bitten in half with the rear end missing. I loaded a new lure and cast to shore where my line went at light speed from the shoreline toward the middle of the lake. Several minutes later I landed a 16lb Striped Bass. These things are among the best game fish I have ever taken. Great experience.

@@TyPigPatrol We used dead pike if we ever found them, and use balloons to sail them out, slower but easier than casting lol Pike are very cannibalistic, right from when they are tiny, a lot of their early food is their fellow fry, so makes sense they carry on eating each other when they get big.
