I've always thought this duet version of the song is way better than the solo version, i mean the solo version is good and all but listening too Twilight and Sunset singing together just feels so perfect!!

Honestly this version still hits hard all these years later. Especially after both equestria girls and Friendship is magic both ended. And while i love g5, its just not the same, especially since g5 made it about them cleaning up the mess left after twilight sealed away magic, including the one villain and alicorn alive from twilight's time that we know of besides discord in the comics, so yeah. Returning to what i spent my teens wayching and listening to always helps me remember the good times of g4

They explained in the commentary for this scene that they realized that it didn't make sense for Sunset to want to go back to Equestria. Especially after she had spent a whole movie getting to be friends with the Equestria Girls. Don't forget that they had forgiven her for a LOT of stuff. I'm kind of sad that the B plot was cut, but think that they ultimately made the right decision.

Originally Sunset was going to have a subplot in the movie about wanting to move back to Equestria, but they had to cut it, probably for time, so they also had to cut her part out of the duet too

Have a brohoof! /) I was really disappointed this never was incorporated into later EQG media though, admittedly I haven't watched any EQG media after Legend of Everfree. Sunset's performance, in which she really laments that she left her old life hits so hard and in a genuine way. Did Sunset ever go back to Equestria? I suppose that this is the number one loose end that I wish would have been addressed. Unless it's been way too much time and I forgot if that was ever worked out. The second loose end that everyone used to wonder, "if Sunset left the Equestrian universe, where's the true Human version of Sunset Shimmer?"
