Reminds me how certain craniotomies are done. Using micro drills to create burr holes in skull. Great video and love the presentation.

Wow this was very useful. I've been in the industry for 3 years and I have yet to come across a decedent that needs this. I should practice this before I do.

I’m glad it was useful! My first two happened this year and I was unprepared. Wish I had done this sooner but glad to learn from my colleagues. 🤗

I was curious about when someone gets hit by a bullet in the head which can destroy most of the skull does the restorative specialist at a funeral use other types of materials to make the head look almost like nothing happened to the deceased person's skull?

When I was in college Restorative Arts was a requirement, questions were even on the state boards

RA is a requirement. Not until recently did they begin teaching the cranial reconstruction lab... its explained in the video.

It's very unfortunate that you had that type of "learn on the fly" experience. It sounds like you have yourself surrounded by caring professionals though, and you are a very smart woman no doubt. I appreciate your videos and the enthusiastic way in which they are presented to us! Keep up the good work!

After mortuary school we have a year internship under a licensed funeral director. Depending on the area you may not see certain hard cases such as the one I mentioned. Also there are a lot of seasoned directors that are unwilling to teach the new ones coming into the profession. I had a hard internship to say the least... I’m glad that I NOW have great people I can turn to without judgement. That is why I love teaching what I know because when I started I had no one to show me the way. Thank you for your comment I appreciate it! 🙂

Hi Evie. Your videos are so interesting. One of the things that deterred me from going to mortuary school is the work schedule. But I think the biggest thing is the retrieval of bodies and attending funerals all the time. Are those things you do on a regular basis?

Was it CSF fluid he leaked? Did they use a drain post surgery? Sorry to hear about your dad. Not a good experience for him.
@OhISew23 жыл бұрын
@@Lotus-ox6is i'm not sure. he died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head, his skull was crushed and then he had surgery etc... it was a hard puzzle to put together. thanks.
