I was a Funeral Assistant for seven years. There can be a lot of opportunity with the right funeral home AND if you ask the right way. One place I worked at was willing to teach me & let me do everything I did not legally need a license to do! I learned how to and regularly did dressing, casketing, setting features, cosmetizing, body removal, prep room clean up, meet with families and transfer ashes. In most states you can learn & do pretty much anything you want (except for embalming) if whoever is in charge is willing to teach you. Lastly, FAMILY/ INDEPENDENT owned funeralhomes tend to have the most opportunity & leeway to do this in.

Each state has different laws. In Illinois it is illegal for someone to act as if they are a funeral director when they in fact are not. Funeral Homes need to be very careful about allowing unlicensed people to do licensed tasks... they would be looking at heavy fines. Also, I would suggest unlicensed people to get familiar with state laws so they don't get into trouble.

@@EvieVargas Not familiar with Illinois laws as I live in Arizona. I know I never did anything illegal, not did I misrepresent myself. And no company I worked for was going to risk their entire operation to teach me something I shouldn't be learning. I was glad to get the opportunity and it will now benefit me when I start mortuary school I'm 2023.

What a incredible video! I saw a position for this job and I really wondered what it was like, since it seemed like there was so many responsibilities… this definitely made me feel less anxious, thank you!

In my area, we also assist with home removals as well as clean and drive the hearse.

Great video ! I would like to get a job such as this to see if this is my path ( which I think it is) San Diego is where I am and I just do not see openings such as this. I will possibly do what you said and physically go in and speak up someone . You remind me of an up and coming Monica Torres 😍 love the both of you ! I only say up and coming as she has been in the business longer but same drive , determination, passion and professionalism 💜

Is this the sort of job that can be done on weekends? Is it minimum wage job? I work at a school. Im looking for a part time job. Weekends, summer, holidays etc. Are homes very much okay with that?
