Hi James. Just a quick heads up. Not only this video, but you’re entire channel: I learned so much from it. After hitting a hard performance plateau for the last 3 years where I was focusing too much on weight (and in hindsight slipping in too low energy availability) your advice helped me turn it around. I was astonished how much I had to eat, in order to fuel properly. It took 6 months but they effort was well worth it. So a big thank you! 🙏

My problem is not training but race day!! What I must eat when ..for example gel before yes or not? Caffeine? If I don t eat gel during train or sugar before a session I must do before a race?

Hey, what sort of distance races are you doing? I have some videos which cover race scenarios and how to fuel them

@@NutritionTriathlon Olympic Triathlon! Usually during the week I eat 50/60 gr CHO and 1 coffee; I feel a lot of tension before the race so I don’t know if it’s right to increase Carbo and caffeine before a race

I am regularly in calorie deficit I think ..the last 2 weeks my hr resting and during training has spiked by atleast 10bpm training and my sleep is poor ( according to watch) I even had to take 2 days in bed in no with no symptoms except fatigue is this because of calorie deficit do you think. I'm ultra runner not tri around 13 to 15 body fat guessing

Difficult for me to say because there could be plenty of reasons for this but yes, it definitely could be. Are you purposely in a calorie deficit or you're just wondering if you are and it's on purpose? You could always try adding more calories in and see if that helps improve your symptoms

@NutritionTriathlon Yes, purposely started of overweight and calorie deficit and calorie became obsessive even after weight loss getting professional help now but only recently has my performance dropped and quite bad fatigue. Thanks for reply hoping high calorie intake will get my performance level back
