What I've learned from this video. *_About Brett_* : He panics whenever he has to anwer a question under pressure. His mind is a mess. I kinda feel sorry for the human/alien he has fallen or will fall in love with. *_About Eddy_* : He always manages to find a way to roast. He feels the urge to dance whenever he thinks about dog poo. Bach Violin sonatas really seem to have traumatized him (as well as Ed Sheeran "Shape of you", apparently). And finally, *neither of them can count, since they each asked 11 questions, not 10.*

It's obvious that, for some questions, they panicked and just played the first piece that came to their mind (e.g. Brett on the last one) ! 😅 But I feel some of the answers were genuine, like when Eddy played the Sibelius Concerto as if it were the last time he could touch a violin... A hint about brett's first love piece: "What was unusual about the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto? The movement's climax reveals one of Mendelssohn's unique traits; while most composers create intensity with a fortissimo, Mendelssohn often makes the most crucial moments of his pieces the quietest. In this concerto, the development leads to a passage in which the violinist is completely alone." So, his first love left him or... his first love was violin

Thanks to TwoSet, I discovered a whole world of string quartets and trios and duets. I found "Beethoven, 12 Variations on 'See the conqu'ring hero comes', WoO 45" and want it played at my wedding and/or funeral. I'm kind of surprised at Brett's choice of Boccherini Minuetto for his wedding, but then I'm not. It's nice and brings nostalgia for me, because of the British children's television show ZZZap. Love this video. I laughed so hard. 😂😂😂💕💕💕👍👍👍

All I want to happen at my funeral is to make people laugh. I would want everyone at the funeral to laugh at my jokes one last time, that all I want, I really don't want a serious funeral, I want people to not take me seriously even though they should. If I die tomorrow, my last wish is to make people laugh at my funeral and to have fun, I want it to be like a circus, or a festival! That is my last wish, well that and to have world peace! It's mindblowing (for me) to see how Brett & Eddy can play all those pieces from memory. Most people can probably memorize up to a hundred pop songs, since those are usually simple, repetitive and within 4-5mins. But classical pieces are complex works of art that spans pages and pages. I'm completely amazed at their brain capacity. I guess it must be true that playing instruments can enhance memory and cognitive skills. Also, while all of their selections were spontaneous and for the fun of it...I do feel that the very last piece Eddy played was genuine. He seemed a lot more affected (and serious) when he played that piece. It must mean a lot to him. Eddy ❤ Sibelius
@fryloc3595 жыл бұрын
Practice... Seriously, you know tens of thousands of words because you use them every day. The same in music, practice ingrains those works into your head. I still remember some of the stuff I played in marching band, and that was 25 or so years ago. (90-94)
@amandastevens11175 жыл бұрын
I think connecting the music to auditory memory and also muscle memory probably helps them a lot. Also, if you practice 40 hours a day, you're bound to memorize the music whether you really want to or not.
@fryloc3595 жыл бұрын
@@amandastevens1117 in marching band we (at least I) didn't actively try to memorize the music, just playing it over and over and over you are bound to memorize it. We played little else during the season.

Q: What piece comes to mind when you think about your first love? A: Piano Sonata No. 11 in A major by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart; it was the first piece she heard me play on her grandparents' upright piano. Q: What does it feel like when you have bubble tea? A: Second movement of Piano Sonata No. 31 in A♭ major, Op. 110 by Ludwig van Beethoven; the minor key is appropriate for how I feel about the 'bubbles'. Q: What is your favourite piece of music? A: Bach, Fuga a 3 Soggetti (Contapunctus XIV of BWV 1080); non-Bach, String Quartet No. 15 in G major, Op. 161 by Franz Schubert. Q: What piece do you want played at your funeral? A: Selig sind die Toten, die in dem Herren sterben [Blessed Are the Dead, Who Die in the Lord], SWV 391 by Heinrich Schütz because I do not want that my family and friends should be sad. Q: What piece of music comes to mind when thinking of Elon Musk? A: Mars, the Bringer of War by Gustav Holst Q: What is your brain thinking when you go on stage and get shaky bow? A: Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima by Krzysztof Penderecki. Q: What is your least favourite piece of music that you had to practice? A: Sonata for Violin and Piano by Galina Ustvolskaya, but only because the pianist did not enjoy the music and thus played dispassionately. Q: What would a virus sound like? A: "Bonjour. Je m'appelle Jean-Philippe Rameau.." Q: If you had to depict what it is like to think, what music would you play? A: String Quartet No. 2, Op. 10 by Arnold Schoenberg. I think dialectically and it seems dodecaphonically. Q: What would a dog's poop taste like? A: K. 231. Q: What piece of music do you want played at your wedding? A: The third movement of Lieutenant Kijé, Op. 60 by Sergei Prokofiev. Q: At the next G20, what would you play? A: String Quartet No. 2 by Morton Feldman. Q: What is your favourite piece to play in an orchestra? A: Ostrobothnian Symphony by Osvaldas Balakauskas. Q: What is the piece that you screwed up on stage that is the most memorable? A: Périodes by Gérard Grisey. Q: What is a piece you don't want to play for the rest of your life? A: Anything by Iannis Xenakis; I love to listen to his wonderful dissonances, but I prefer not to play. Q: What is one piece of music that more people should discover and listen to? A: Any of Giacinto Scelsi's string quartets, but definitely the third. Q: What is one song you wish would disappear from the face of the Earth? A: Antonio Vivaldi's Four Seasons recomposed by Max Richter-preferably all of his 'reimaginings'. Q: What piece of music could you eat if it was a food? A: Hungarian Dance No. 5 in F♯ minor by Johannes Brahms because it always reminds me of the Raisin Brahms commercial! Q: If you ever meet an alien species, what is the first piece you would play for them? A: Any of Johann Sebastian Bach's numerous masterworks. When NASA sent the Voyager, they included the third movement of BWV 1006 (Gavotte and Rondeau) plus BWV 1047 at Allegro tempo & BWV 870. I like to think if extraterrestrials hear Bach, they will decide we are worthy of life and not to destroy us, so Eddy or Brett are welcome to play at the first interplanetary summit in my stead. Q: If you were to meet the love of your life, what piece of music would you play? A: Anton Webern's string quartets to make sure she can tolerate me. Q: What would the last piece you want to play for the rest of your life, and you can never touch violin again? A: BWV 1004, but I would continue practicing for the rest of my life in order to be satisfied with a perfect finale performance.
