The Gathering is now trying to get sales tax adjustments like Meruelo did in Arizona, and a majority of Forsyth County will not go for it. Anson Carter's group is in Fulton County and has better infrastructure to handle this new project. Marta subways are already in Fulton County and stop a few exits short of Mansell Road where the arena is going to be situated. I play in the local league and a majority of us live in the area near the proposed new arena. I can't get behind "Georgia" over "Atlanta" for an Atlanta expansion. Atlanta has more of an identity or pride than just about anywhere else in the US outside of the Northeast. If Nashville, Dallas, and Tampa can brand on a city name ATL will thrive without needing any broader appeal to the state name.

The problem is it's wayyyy OTP and a new entity. I think they underestimate how many potential fans will stay away for that reason alone. I'd argue just as many Atlantans would go for a Georgia team, and like Utah it could help secure some state funds.

What about the Georgia Jacks? I imagine a man with a face like the old LA Kings logo, swinging an axe like the thrasher's hockey stick, and maybe flames coming off of the top of the axe. @swneighboursАй бұрын
@@Kira_Kovalyova Yep, Falcons work downtown since it's only 8-9 home games a year, mostly on Sundays, the soccer team works downtown since that we're a lot of the young soccer bros live, and the Hawks since basketball is an urban sport. Baseball is a suburban and rural sport so it makes perfect sense for the Braves to be out in Smyrna and the hockey team being in Alpharetta makes sense since hockey is a suburban sport.
@closethockeyfan5284Ай бұрын
While I get all that, they're also missing out on capturing the broader market the NHL would likely prefer by being so far north. Not a chance I'm driving out to Whiteflightsville for a team that dares to bare the name of a city it doesn't actually want to be part of, and that goes even more for folks living west, east, and south of the city. In other words, I understand playing it safe and looking for the whole retail district package, but the reward will be lesser than a 'risk' of going halfway like the Braves did.

I dunno what you call them, but I think a Black primary with Peach secondary kit would be unique and offer plenty of opportunity for cool designs; the Atlanta Hawks and Atlanta United have already experimented with this color scheme as well.
