I'm surprised that many people mention Konan like if her previous design was any different. That's still exactly how she looks under the Akatsuki cloak. Maybe people don't know? She also has an exposed navel and four piercings in a cross around it. Kishimoto sketched how she looks in the data book or in an answer to a fan, I think. Many designs seems very similar to the final version of the character, altough there are a few ones that look fairly different.

First version isn't what it's 'supposed to look like'. First versions were usually Kishimoto figuring stuff out. The mere first draft.. Kishimoto himself may not end up putting a lot of these into the manga.

Ye I won't lie, that pic at the end of the 3 main characters depicted as "another concept art of the first version" that's in color, I actually high key like their designs like that, I think that art style is really cool, and I kinda wish the characters actually ended up looking like that, although I understand you can't draw that art style quickly and it probably wouldn't have worked for the show/Manga. But I think that those concepts capture their personalities a lot better and feel more lively imho.
