While you were coming into the world, crazy fights were happening in the Anime universe, of course you couldn't know (you were too busy being born) but don't worry, I'm here.
I've compiled a list of the biggest Anime fights that have happened every year since 1985. If you were born in 1989 the biggest fight would be “Goku vs Vegeta” from Dragon Ball Z, if you were born 20 years later it would be “Sasuke vs Itachi” from Naruto shippuden.

@HazeOvO I agree that OP had a better story and build-up, but it's not like JJK had 0 build-up. And the whole thing about no story effect is also bs, if you read the manga. From the very start of the story, we see that Gojo and Sukuna have an interest in Megumi. We are not told why, and as far as we can see, the 10S is not that powerful. It's good, but why would something that's just good attract the attention of basically the two gods of the JJKverse. Then we see time and again, Megumi readying a trump card. One we never see get used, but one that is teased a lot. (With the school sukuna fight, detention center sukuna fight, todo fight and the Hanami fight. He even thought about it in the final finger bearer fight but didn't use it because of his lessons.) So we are continuously teased on what that ace card was. Then, in s2 itself, we have the build-up with the Toji vs Megumi fight. We are told that Toji is a killing machine that chooses the strongest opponent near him to fight. And when he was done with Dagon, he didn't choose nanami, Naobito, or even Maki with the exact same Heavenly restriction as him. No, he chose megumi. It's even possible he chose megumi over jogo, depending on how far Toji's range to detect opponents is. Finally, at the end of thunderclap 1 and the start of thunderclap 2, we finally see why. The build-up was paid off because Mahoraga made Sukuna try. No one other than Gojo had thus far made Sukuna give effort. The effects on the story are also massive. The main event of shibuya, even with the sealing of Gojo, was the release of Sukuna. And as destructive as his fight with Jogo was, it was nowhere near the level of his fight with Mahoraga. It changed the Shibuya incident from a mission gone wrong, to a mission gone wrong so badly that it basically upends Jujutsu society. While just jogo would have depressed Yuji, it was the destruction caused after Sukuna vs Mahoraga that really broke him. Without it, he would have been in a much better mental state. Nanami likely would have still died, but Nobara maybe wouldn't have. This would have led to Yuji winning against Mahito much quicker, which could have ultimately led to kenjaku being unable to absorb mahito, without which the rest of the manga won't even have happened. The mahoraga fight and sukuna opening his domain was the defining event of shibuya. I agree that Luffy vs Kaido has a better story and more build-up (simply because OP is a bigger story), etc, but Sukuna vs Mahoraga was a Godly fight, that also teases future fights like Sukuna vs Gojo and Megumi's role in the future for anime onlys.

Was literally designed as a power display for Sukuna to show off how strong he is and had no other plot relevance. Luffy vs Kaido = Extremely built up and anticipated, Luffy obtains one of the most iconic abilities in modern day anime that people even tried to claim was more iconic than Super Saiyan. What Sukuna vs Mahoraga has is the element of surprise. He made a black hole in the middle of Tokyo. Nothing like this happened in the history of jujutsu world ever. It alone declassified the existence of sorcery to normal people. And Luffy vs Kaido...it's just Luffy defeating another "villian of an island", but this time it's bigger. And it's not even the best one: Crocodile and Doflamingo ones were better in my opinion. This one is just overlong.

@@evgenkhersonets880 The only real significance Mahoraga has was giving us another hint at why Megumi is so important to the story, but nothing actually came to fruition from that fight aside from Itadori having a breakdown afterwards. It was another building block, not some huge payoff unlike Luffy vs Kaido. Luffy becomes an Emperor, unlocks the most iconic transformation in one piece aside from arguably gear 2 near a thousand episodes ago, and the entire power balance of the one piece universe was tilted, and the secret of 'joyboy' which has been hinted at since near the start of the show is suddenly dropped on you. Meanwhile Mahoraga vs Sukuna significance as it stands was "Oh, Mahoraga is related to why Megumi is so important? Wow, Sukuna looks badass in this fight." The Mahoraga vs Sukuna fight in its majority was just to give Sukuna a 'power display', essentially that was just Sukuna flexing.
