Shameer, you told an absolute lie. NPP spoke about their policies for months, very clearly articulated by AKD mostly. It’s SJB and RW who copied what NPP were doing and not vice versa. IMO 80% of voters including many who voted for NPP, do not know their complete package. It’s so comprehensive and detailed, with action plans. Never seen in SL before. Reduction of power prices by NPP was discussed. Yes, by up to 30% as I understand, brought about mostly by not overpaying Generators of Power, as at present, and also strictly enforcing competitive tendering. The appointment of renowned energy expert Dr Tilak Siyambalapitiya as Chairman CEB and a competent Ministry Secretary, signals that NPP means business in this area.

Comparing Yahapalanaya and NPP in wiping out corruption is futile. NPP has no corrupt people and they have no one to shield. They will enforce law and order and will not engage in abuse of power. So doubters say what you want, things will happen.

Dr Sara is going over the same story again, files and allegations. AKD or NPP should not pursue anyone, IMO, they will only appoint honest officials who will be encouraged to pursue any wrongdoers. Whatever evidence/files NPP possesses will be handed over to the prosecutors. It’s their duty do the work beyond that, and pursue prosecutions if there is enough evidence. Previous governments stifled officials doing a thorough job, to save the alleged perpetrators.

I say this again, every forum , Dr Sara represents the old school. His views are quite outdated and does not match with the aspirations of young NPP leadership. Perhaps the oldies are also part of society, but no value added in my view. Having said that, there are many older people who can see a transformed world.

It's too early to discuss some of the items. New president is going to deal and fix the corruption happening for past seventy-six years. It will take a period of time. New president is a well refined leader and most of the people has trust especially on him. Some of the past things have to be reviewed and charged for the change and to avoid happening again. All the communities have to work hard to make a new entire refined society. Support Anura Kumara Thissanayaka's team in the upcoming parliament election to archive the goals.

Due to the lack of english trained science and mathematics teachers our government is trying to give the maximum to a wide section of students through vernacular education in the Arts stream which is further aggravating the problem of the ethnic divide. The intention of the then socialist parties at that time was to provide the marginalized rural area students vernacularly educated first preference for government run university higher education. At that period of time there were only government run universities. If higher education is limited to a selected few, because of the limited seats in the state universities, we will always have unproductive literates as talented school dropouts and useless graduates relying on the government for employment. The English education, Mathematics and Science streams are limited to Urban areas. This group of students with English knowledge is continuing to migrate to European countries. We are left with vernacular educated arts stream students taught in different perspectives. This is further aggravating racial and religious bigotry within the country. When it comes to higher education, I hope affiliated colleges to local universities are started so that local universities can accommodate more students.

When it comes to fighting corruption we shouldn't forget that Educating man in mind and not in morals is to educate a menace in society Theodore Roosevelt Socialism can educate everyone but these days moral values come down from family values. Moral values have to be taught in schools or else with demand and supply taking its toll on rule of law and to become rich and rise in social status overnight we will be educating doctors who will steal organs, engineers who will construct buildings with cheap material that'll collapse over time, lawyers who will fleece the laymen, people in power ripping the government coffers.
