Funny. If you thought about it for a few seconds, instead just post whatever came to mind, you'd see how naive this is. Where there is power(to make laws), there are ways to make money, because there are always people with money, that want laws to benefit them. Also how are you going to convince people who are in politics for the money, to make laws, that would move towards your desired direction. It would be against their interest. It's a chicken and egg problem, to get money to have less influence in politics, you need majority of people in politics to be those that don't care about money, but for that you'd need the politics changed first. Not to mention, people with money, that want to influence society, including politics and politicians own all the news(propaganda) outlets, so their candidates will always get positive coverage. While rare few, like Trump, can win even while being smeared, most people aren't that well known so without media, they get nowhere.

In this case, I think it's still incredibly naive. While there are exceptions, it's not generally patriots are drawn to positions of power. It's sociopaths. Power is it's own reward for these people. Money is just one avenue to it. Removing that avenue may swap one subset of sociopaths for another, but that's about it.
