For someone married to the most polarizing man in the country, Melania Trump avoids the spotlight surprisingly well. I read Mary Jordan's book The Art of Her Deal. Jordan traveled to Italy, France and Austria where Melania had modeled and spoke to people in the fashion industry and who remembered Melania. No one could recall Melania speaking much in those counties' languages. Melania could only say a few foreign words but not actual sentences or conversations. The real reason Melania went back to New York after the swearing-in ceremony was so that she could re-work her prenuptial agreement. The part about Barron finishing the fifth grade in New York was just the official party line, nothing more.

It is not unlikely that Melania speaks a couple of languages. Born in a smallish country you start with two languages. A probably intelligent person working in France or Austria adds a working knowledge of two more languages. I can't understand USAians make a big deal of this, because it is actually quite normal. At the end of my schooling I commanded Dutch, German, English and French on an intellectual level, reading books. Speaking fluently came later. There is half a dozen other languages I am familiar with.

Supposedly Slovenian, English, French, German and Italian. I've heard her speaking a few words of (incorrect), very basic Italian with children and English with the adults and most of the non English speaking Italian children present (youtube video), so I have my doubts. Of course you lose language skills when you don't use them and she will have been focussing on English, pushing any others into the background. She may at one time have had the basic language skills to manage modelling and everyday situations somewhat without ever achieving any real fluency or she could have become quite comfortable in those languages while never achieving native speaker fluency (as is the case with her English, as you pointed out). If she is currently fluent in any language other than English or Slovenian, I haven't seen evidence for it. She may now have more passive than active language skills, i.e. she may understand a fair bit but not be able to personally formulate her thoughts in these languages. This is the case for me with Russian. Generally in a formal situation it may make most sense to speak the language you speak best, so perhaps that is why we don't have her being interviewed in French, Italian and German. Sometimes you need a period in a language environment to re-activate dormant language skills, you don't usually lose them completely but it takes a while to dredge them up. For me, this is the case with French, Spanish and Italian which I have no use for in everyday life. I can scramble by anytime but not have a full in-depth conversation with rapid fire responses on deep topics. I use German a lot so I don't lose it and Russian I have never achieved fluency in but I understand quite a bit. You could say I speak 6 languages I suppose, and to some extent I do, but by no means all fluently all the time. Maybe that is also what she meant with her 5 languages.

That's what happens when you age. The eyes get smaller due to sagging and puffiness. The upper lid sags and causes narrowing and sometimes the sagging can start going over the eye ball making it hard to see. That's when medical insurance will cover for plastic eye surgery.

Seems that there is a privileged process that isn't afforded to everyone to ensure that their child is born a US citizen. Illegals have been an issue for decades. Trump's policies did not close the border or solve the issue, and he only built 50 more miles of wall. Possibly due to his mate Bannon stealing millions of the donor money, whom Trump Federally pardoned when he left. Bannon couldn't escape the State convictions though. Migration was less as there did happen to be a Pandemic. Now 5 months have been spent on creating a policy Bill to sort the issue and provide funding but it has to have Congress's approval. Of course, Trump has told his cronies not to resolve the issue, so he can use it to get elected, so it's still being blocked. So don't go jabbering on about the Border. If you support Trump then it can't be a crisis now can it! He surely wouldn't put everyone in harm's way just so he has something to politically moan about... or would he?
