This is when clients go to an actual software company to build the app for them. Sometimes the automated version exists but in a lot of instances they can't customise it to the extent they want so clients approach a company and have it built from scratch. Also today we have a lot of drag and drop website builders, themes etc but again we need SOMEONE to learn the website builder or if you want to customise something that the website builder can't (CSS overrinding) you will need engineers again. No matter what these website builders don't and CANNOT come with your own business logic. If you're thinking about WordPress again business themes are not free some developer has to have created them that's a freelance kind of job do one get paid everyone someone downloads So just practice and get really good at programming which is to understand the way programming works you don't have to master an entire programming language instead just understand the concept of programming, the flow of execution, problem solving and algorithms. Once you do this, learning any programming language or technology will be easy. Best of luck. This is something I have been hearing since my college days, these job cuts are in each and every sector, be it construction/shops/IT/Govt Jobs. Everything is catching up pace, so most of the things are now done by machines which were earlier performed manually by humans. So you need not to be worry about whats gonna happen 5/10 years down the line, rather we need to focus and align ourselves in current situation. Yes skill up was , is and will always be the need of hour in every field. So all the students out there, please do not worry , be best in whatever your learning and see no machine/human is going to replace you.

When electricity was invented so that a lot of manual labourers didn't have their jobs any more, jobs were created as well in the form of requirement for electricians. While this is a valid concern, I don't think anything justifies halting progress for the sake of jobs, since jobs just change, not vanish. Though of course if somebody has problem adapting, they should be kind of afraid XD. EDIT: I do have sympathy and genuine concern for the people being put out of jobs because of this, I want to make that clear. But again, I don't think we get to make that choice to halt progress, not legally or ethically. Also, I do find it concerning that EVERYBODY in this world was all for progress and technology when it was affecting the blue-collar jobs, but now that tech may finally catch up with the more ''sophisticated, white-collar jobs", people are finally waking up? I say if you didn't want to stop to help them, the world shouldn't stop to help you either.

With due respect to Kalprit, I would suggest people to study and learn the situation of AI from actual AI experts and the underlying mechanism of AI algorithms. For centuries we have been automating repeating work and that ai does best. Also AI perform well for situations where rules are well defined like games but the assumption that AI replacing SE jobs. Boy o boy it might happen but if it happens it will be the last job if it happens. A few other things to consider are most of the actual machine learning modelling is getting automated with researchers all over the world making easy to use GUI based systems where models can be created. Boston dynamics created highly efficient robots but they use more of very robust control system algorithms like Kalman Filters and less of Ml algorithms If you are an ML Engineer the knowledge of SQL,Git, Parallel Computing, Data Structures and Algorithms are way too important along with ML knowledge. Whatever u have said it's true up to a level. Like ai will reduce jobs for mid level technician or process engineers. Those guys might belong to belong to mechanical or electrical engg field too. Many iti holder will also loose job as automation and ai will progress. But I think more we go towards automation and ai. Then more data will be generated. Lots of engineer will be required for data mgmt and service support. So software engineer would always have a lot opportunity. The more most of companies will go on automation then more workload server management, secure services based jobs will be born. Like for example in a city like nagpur. Suppose today 50% restaurant have tieup with swiggy or zomato. Now for this a app development and server mgmt team is requirement. Payment gateway based services will be required. Data engineers will be required now suppose here i was talking about 50% restaurant . If 30% restaurant more want to go online then definitely hiring of zomoto staff and his subsidiary have to increase job. Second point is that as u know a website can be created by many programming languages. Why it happen. What was logic to create new programming coding language for a websites. It's because to make system more secure. It's all about to make secure system and restrict copying policy. That is apple uses Mac. Nokia tried to use window based OS. Even hp also developed mobiles by a third party by some different OS. No issue they failed but development and work on new languages will be always there and thus job for software engineer will be always there.data management related jobs will be always there.

Correct me if I am wrong. What I understood is that the future is only difficult for people taking software engineering jobs right after graduation. Research in other areas in Computer Science and other STEM disciplines are not gonna get affected and will actually improve a lot due to advances in AI.

Imagine the same people dissatisfied with engineering, now trying to do research, a field that requires you to care about your subject and not just go after stipend/job. It's gonna be a mess. I feel like AI progress will grind to a halt in 2030-2037, and then an entirely new way/new hardware/new concept will be developed to work with AI which will drastically change the mindset, and make areas unreachable by conventional AI, reachable. I'm software engineer from 2013 and after watching this video I'm feeling depressed and then I just looked at my past carrierline and reliased.... I have earned good from this software engineering field. I guess, overall, software engineering will not go vain just new technology and terms will take place. For example, earlier we have a javascript but now we have latest framework like angular, react that we have to learn and aquire a new skill set..... nobody will replace the field and i am 200% sure software engineering will not go anywhere in next 50 years only the terms and names will change.....

AWS provides Infrastructue and Softwares, so rather than setting up their own server companies can use AWS server. Still software developers are needed to write the code, and they will always be needed, as long as there are machines.

I am a Professional Developer Working on AWS and I can tell you this video is not correct, what he is actually saying is that we don't have to worry about the infrastructure, but we still have to write all the code, and it is actually good. Other reason is to keep up pace with the ever rising demands. This is how software field behaves, you can verify it by events from the past. It never meant that jobs are going to decline. It means that it will nurture path for new forms of software jobs to be created.

I think Game Design and Development is an example of something that AI cannot reproduce, at least for a foreseeable future. Lots of creativity and also experience is required for game development. This is very true, Software Developers are integrating Automation everywhere, they are knowingly or unknowingly losing Jobs and even softwares built by them are taking jobs of the people in other sectors.
