This is a true statement as far as being a staged show. I have a friend in Columbus Indiana and the boys wanted to pick his place. This place is wall to wall jam packed with decades of collecting, but the show wanted to plant their own treasures in the mix and only wanted to buy their own stuff. He told them to leave and never come back. At one time I was a collector of old oil cans and had a couple hundred that since I was moving had to go and was going to go cheap. The boys were emailed twice but I got no response from them. My home was about 100 miles from their TN shop and there was a couple months worth the time, but guess Frankie really doesn't want cans. Sadly they all ended up in a dumpster with many other antiques and collectables. I guess telling them the stuff had to go cheap turned them off.

I’m now 40 years old but I was born with a clef lip, had initial surgeries while under a year old but around age 10 Operation Smile came to my home town and completed a surgery to reduce the very visible scaring the first surgery had left. I’m incredibly grateful to them for helping me feel less of an oddity as a kid.

In the past, I have given quite a chunk of cash to "The Smile Train ", However, I have recently become sceptical at the salaries paid to CEO s of the major charities and I see the Smile Train CEO gets $750 000 !!. I would like to continue donating to Children's Cleft pallet surgery. Can anyone tell me the name of the Charity Mike is involved with?

My wife and I got to meet Mike in 2017 on a trip to Colorado from Michigan. A big fan of the show, I discovered that I-80 goes right past LeClaire Iowa and told my wife we had to stop at the Pickers' store. Didn't think we'd actually get to meet Mike. He seems genuinely happy and appreciative of his fans. Still have my American Pickers coffee mug.

It's nice to know the "Hysterical Channel" has this solid, entertaining, family-oriented show among all the fake _drek._ Some of the things I've seen Mike and frank do, such as selling items they picked for real money, then giving it back to the original sellers to help them preserve some important bit of Americana, is heart-warming. I also like the respect they show to the older pickers they meet along the way, becoming friends with diverse people. Pick on, American Pickers! Stay safe, everyone.

My sister was friends with Mike for years before he hit it big. They met through a Quad Cities media organization. I remember her sending me a video of a guy going out to a barn in WI and dragging out a ‘40 Ford Woodie wagon that had been chopped into a pickup. I remember thinking “How cool!” There was no Frank, and single handheld camera, but the ‘bones’ were there. After he got picked up by History Channel, years later MW introduced my sis to Frank and then those 2 dated for about a year. She managed his social media stuff, public appearances and went to visit HC HQ in NYC and attended the Cable ACE awards one year. Too bad I never got to meet him or pitch my TV show to him!!!

Mike was always fair to those who he purchased from. When someone was willing to give an item away he always told them the actual value and gave them a fair price. His partner Frank wasn't always so transparent. He would often brag when he took advantage of a sucker. I understand the importance of running a business and burning bridges limits opportunities. Show or not if I saw someone bragging about how they took advantage of me I would never invite them back.
@Jonahch2v93 жыл бұрын
He also is always respectful to some very difficult "sellers". Even though some are clearly wasting his time and showing off, he still tries to "explain" them in a positive light. Very few people would bother and would just let them look like fools.

Love Mike just because he has such great business ethics, always showing his appreciation for the items he picks, paying fairly for them and always thanking the owners for selling them to him. This is in big contrast with many successful business gurus who teach you to hustle, criticise the products in order to press the prices.

I love the show but it’s not what most pickers deal with. Most can’t buy fifty thousand dollar motorcycles or cars. And the prices for signs and other staples of picking have gone way up, because sellers see what mike and frank are paying. They have come a long way from $15 crocks and everyday picker items.
