peridot the dorito. That was by far the worst. I remember getting a lecture about how the band needs to follow the vocalist, not the other way around. Which is all well and good but when you've got a band with 20+ people trying to co-ordinate instruments and then suddenly having to freestyle to compensate for the singer not doing their job properly, it does not end well.

I started violin at a classical school and played for a few months. I had wanted to play the violin for a long time and I was so excited to start lessons. Sadly, I spent two months on twinkle twinkle and lightly row. My instructor didn’t challenge me at all to do better and she was a bit of a gear snob. I wasn’t enjoying lessons, so I switched schools. So true! I played violine for about 18 years when I decided to try sth new and switched to double bass (or better to say, when I finally had enough money to afford lessons). First semester in orchestra I was like: what the ... where is the rest of my sheet music? Or: Is this really a 100 above that pause sign? Can I even count that far, I don't have that many fingers 🤯. 😅🙈. Still loved it though and standing (!) in the back of an orchestra gives you a total different feel of how it all comes together. Unfortunately, during pregnancies I regularly started vomiting when playing 🤷🏼♀️, so the double bass and I have a somewhat on-off-relationship (currently pregnant again, so I'm back on the violine).

Why is the terminology important? Is there more prestige/gratitude with "pianist"?
@maplecozy3 жыл бұрын
@@FlamingCockatiel It's ACCURATE. The piano is not secondary.
@FlamingCockatiel3 жыл бұрын
@@maplecozy Thank you for replying. It should have occurred to me, a long-time singer, but for some reason did not. A capella does not do some songs justice.

BRILLIANT!!! As a clarinet teacher I often have to show students how to work with an accompanist and, sometimes vice versa. It's a "gas" when the "light bulb" goes on! So rewarding when they get the concept!
