Been into audio for over 40 years, never really went overboard, all great advice here, couldn’t agree more when it comes to on line and magazine reviews. Unfortunately so many brick and mortar audio stores are gone now. Be patient and do your homework before you make that purchase. Took me over a year to build my first system, multiple visits for each component but in the end, I enjoyed that system for over 25 years. Trust your ears. 🙏

Some very good advice when buying from a store. Most of my good purchases were from garage sales so my tuition fees are low but numerous. A great way to get in the audio game.

If you have the time and willing to put in the effort, garage sales is a good way to get into the hobby. I have collected a lot of vintage equipment that way. However, TLC needed on most of them before 100% healthy. That is another story.

What kind of sillicone are you using for your builds, just completely regualar or your own mixture? Also if you want the lowest dialectric constant why dont you use cotton wire instead of ptfe?

I think the answer to the HiFi psychosis is contentment. First learning how to find it and then learning to be content with what you have. Especially when the price of admission is 15,000 dollars and more. If you find you have spent 10s of thousands or hundreds of thousands of dollars on HiFi and still are not content with what you have........well then the problem is you, not the gear. You have lost touch with the music and have fallen victim to your own Lust for Vanity. Everyone stops to look at a 4k tv. But the wise realize its crap, as nothing in real life looks that amazing. I apply the same logic to HiFi. The best sound is in the 720 to 1080p range, not the blow your mind 4k sound.
