I'm having the same issue how do u adjust the carb to make it run right it runs drives then it bogs down and dies previous owner put new carb Chinese just trying to figure out what I need to adjust

@christian angeles that's where I'm at. New Chinese carb and now the machine won't go over 30mph. In the one video I seen him adjusting the pilot but he cut the camera because he said we couldn't see anything. I don't need to see, I need to hear the change and what I'm supposed to be listening for....

With the aftermaket carb i moticed the manifold boot is to small for the aftwr market as the stock carb is smaller

Depends which one you got. There is a H.O. which is bigger or the non H.O. which sounds like you have is smaller.

i picked up a 97 scrambler 500 for $100 from an older guy.he took it to a shop had them install a new carb,after they installed it they said it backfired and smoked and wouldnt stay running and told him it would need engine rebuilt.i took the seat off and seen they didnt install the carb all the way into the intake boot.with half of the carb letting air in backfired and cought the carb on fire inside,it melted the slide to the midplate and lucky for them,it still had 10 yr old gas in it and the filter didnt allow much gas to fill the carb,soot on carb and boot shows it was on fire,i cleaned and installed the original carb,fired right up,ran good till the other day,seems the fuel pump is intermitant and the petcock was leaking,installed a new petcock and now it hard to start,acts like its out of gas.can i bypass the pump and just have it gravity feed the carb,i cant find a fuel line diagram for the scrambler,so the lines might not be routed properly.any suggestions?

Have you tried my method? A separate fuel tank to bypass pump? blow back into your lines from the fuel line attached to carb. the screen in the tank could be plugged. google fuel pump images for a scrambler. Thats how I found the diagram. P on pump goes to vacuum on carb. The middle outlet goes to fuel line to carb and the one on the farthest side goes to tank or shutoff.

I just picked up what i was told is a 2003 sportsman 500 ho with all the same issues that you are showing on some of your videos. I have tinkered with and fixed some things. The thing idles good and will accelerate good with the choke on but bogs down and will not with choke off. I have looked for the serial number everywhere and cannot find it. The stator diagram looks like a 2002 with the two, two pin connectors. It has a small cdi box (cu2574) I am thinking that the cdi box might be bad. Do you know where i can find this box?

It's not the cdi. Lots of times I either have to replace the cables. Or it could be out of adjustment.

My Polaris Sportsman 500 HO came with aftermarket carb with rubber plugs still installed. What gets connected to those two ports?

The 2 side ports are breather ports. usually gets a hoses attached.

My 01 500 HO from the factory had the left port plugged. The right port has a clear tubing that terminates into the frame on the LH side. Strange.

I dont have any now. If you google 500 even sportsman 500 fuel line pictures you will see where the fuel line go. You are the second person to ask. Maybe I will shoot a fuel line video. On the 500 carbs if its non H.O. there are 2 breather ports on the airbox side. The breather hose is in the shape of a Y. Attach the 2 hoses to the carb ports and the other end goes out to a hole in the frame.

hey man I have a 1997 Polaris sportsman 500 and it backfires and boggs I've replace the timing chain, the cam shaft the starter and the carb. do you have any idea on what it can be. I posted a video on my youtube on how it sounds if you can check it out that be awesome.

Can you share the link? Did you check intake boot for leaks? If it's an aftermarket carb its usually set rich.

hey, replacing intake rubber from carb to block, do you put permatex here?

No. If it's new it should have a seal on it. I have seen gaskets that come with them. Normally from the factory they didn't have a gasket.
