Not sure what to wear in Thailand?
Knowing what type of clothing to pack, also what to wear in Thailand is probably one of the most important considerations when you’re preparing to travel.
When you arrive in Thailand, the first thing you would notice is the very warm weather and maybe some humidity. It becomes clear that light clothing is often the best option to cope with the weather.
If you wore a sweater, you can be sure that you will be dripping with sweat. At this point, you might want to go half-naked in a swimming suit or only wear your shorts might seem to be an ideal choice. However, you have to pause to consider the fact that Thailand is a very traditional society and being topless half-naked in a Thai city will make many Thais shake their heads in disgust.
When considering what to wear in Thailand, it becomes clear that you must navigate your way between the weather and the society while being fashionable. The solution is to dress in a relaxed and in casual way. You don’t want to be overdressed as that will be too hot but at the same time, you don’t want to show too much skin to respect the Thai culture, especially inside a religious site.

Thank you. As a woman, I'd probably wear over the knee length skorts and dresses and tshirts that covers my shoulders or spaghetti strapped tops with a scarf. My Swedish mum bought several scarves in Bangkok when she adopted me

What do below the knee amputees do at temples? They can’t remove their shoes due to prosthetic safety concerns. Is wearing a shoe covers allowed as a substitute to removing shoes? 🙏

You rase a point. I have a friend and he told me he Carey's one of those foot sock used in hospital with the rubber strips on them or paint shields that slip over your shoe. I'm sure if you ask one of the monks they should be understanding.

No chance of travel anytime in my lifetime! In Quebec, Canada we have high humidity in the summer. I would of course respect the customs of whatever country I would visit. No way is it possible. You don't want Kim Kardashian-she would break all the rules. Lol. The humidity is a killer....my health conditions.....yikes. Thanks for the 🎥. Respect is key

I know most things are okay nowadays except gotta cover up at most temples/places of worship, Grand Palace. But unsure if meant 3/4 length trousers okay or had to be full length The guys - don't wear very tight tops, then you drew round the nipple areas just incase you couldn't see them haha

As a westerner, you can get away with anything in the tourist areas. Bikini top with arse out jean shorts at Siam BTS area, for example. Government, religious, or royalty related areas are a different story. But yeah, outside the tourist areas you should dress moderately and avoid thongs (flip flops) or slides.

I live in a tropical area and wear zip up tactical boots, jeans and aloha shirts with a tee under and able to stay cool and get protection from the dam bugs.
