Also, in terms of the injured athlete story, I've read a lot of "I was a soccer star in high school and hurt myself and wasn't able to play when I got to college and it was hard for me socially when all of my friends were on the soccer team, but I got my act together and worked hard in my classes." Even if this was a meaningful experience, it doesn't sound very grown up. However, I always say - almost anything can be done well and almost anything can be done poorly - it's all about execution.

What about the time(s) I went to jail? Does this factor in to the holistic approach?

Coffeebeans89 - great question! 56 seconds doesn't give me a lot of time to go into detail, but I do explain this more in The Law School Admission Game: Play Like an Expert. Basically, so many people do study abroad now that it's overdone. And an essay that talks about learning to operate in a country that drives on the other side and uses different light switches makes it hard to emphasize maturity and real world perspective.

Can I ask why you shouldn't include the fact you studied abroad? and also abotu the injured athlete part. Just curious Thanks!
