When I was a little girl my mother would add food coloring to the water in a vase and place Queen Anne's Lace in the vase. The flower turns the color of the food coloring. I thought it was magic.😊❤

Lovely! I knew a fair number of those wildflowers but it's a great idea to list them as you spot them! Elders are one of my favourite shrubs and I took a number of elder cuttings earlier in the year, gifted some and I have kept two for myself that already have developed root systems and lots of leaves 😁 you can't beat intermingled, diverse wildflower species! That soap dish would go straight by one of my sinks 😂 That little ribbed insulator looked like an "admiralty pattern" used on ships and boats for communications equipment. Lots of great treasure at that tip!

Wow! I'm really excited about the new channel you are going to start. I don't know if your home has a name or if the town you live in has a neat name, but that would be a cool thing to name the channel! Or if you have a favorite quote about a house. For example, Kate Jackson (I think that's her last name) calls her podcast The Last Homely House after a quote from one of the Lord of the Rings books, or maybe it was The Hobbit. Anyhow, it's a compelling name, so maybe you have something like that in mind. She lives just south of you in Hexham near Hadrian's Wall. It's a neat, crafty podcast if you haven't already seen it. I really enjoyed your "Tour of the Tip" today. Such lovely wildflowers. What you call Hogsweed in the US is known as Queen Anne's Lace, which is a much prettier name, I think. I'm not 100% sure if it's the same plant. It also resembles Tansey or Yarrow, which is usually yellow. I love wildflowers. My fave item today was the divided dish that Alex found. I'm glad that you are going to put it in the Window of Wonders. Thanks as always for an interesting show!
@dasja9966 Жыл бұрын
Queen Ann's lace is a common name mostly used for either Daucus carotus (wild carrot) or Anthriscus sylvestris (cow parsley.) Giant hogweed (Heracleum mantegazzianum) is also known as giant cow parsley. They are all members of the Apiacea plant family. Be carefull with giant hogweed and other Heracleum species though. It is fototoxic and can cause nasty burns on sun exposed skin. .

Oh this was such a lovely video with all the wildflowers, buzzing bees and lovely music. LOVE the crazed dish with blue garland, would be pretty in a country kitchen to keep a punp of washing up liquid, handsoap and a sponge in by the sink too. Alot of great finds there! It's comforting to see nature reclaiming forgotten areas like these. These spots are very important for biodiversity, and even just the various flowers and signs of wildlife and animal you showed are only a fraction of what's coming back creating a litttle thriving ecosystem. Bees, beatles, pheasants, and beautiful blooms of summer. Many shared with Scandinavia too. I'd have picked a big bouquet of wildflowers before leaving, they really do represent the fleeting joys of summertime. I'm looking forward to seeing your new channels content! Always been interested in your cottage and what you're up to when your not larking! That will be fun, great idea! Have you had a heatwave like us in Sweden? The last couple of weeks were really hot and humid here, only got our first cool day with a bit of rain yesterday, and it's been so dry, it's well needed. Alot of cattle went to forced slaughter this summer solely due to lack of rain, the drought can have quite tragic consequences. But when I was in Scotland all august of 2019 I remember there was a very short but heavy shower almost once a day, and sometimes twice, with sunshine inbetween, which was very differwnt from here and kindof refreshing! It certainly looks very lush in the video! See yoi again soon girls, hope you have a marvelous July! 💕/Jo
