The Karachay horse is a made up name for Kabardian "Circassian" horse, this name never existed before the Soviet union In the Soviet times, the government built 3 main horse breading bases in the Caucasus, one in Krasnodar, another in Karachay-Cherkess Republic, and the third in Kabardino-Balkaria Republic These horse breading bases were built to bread only Kabardian horses to provide the Soviet army But the Karachay people started calling the Kabardian horses which were breed in their territory as Karachay horse, which's basically stealing You'd never find any mention of Karachay horse before the 20th century, meanwhile you can search Kabarda or Kabardian horses and you'll find many Russian and European books and sources talking about the Kabardian breed, some even mentioned that it was the only breed that existed in the Caucasus region at some point, and most Caucasians even Russian Cossacks to buy their horses from Kabarda If you need any i can provide you with some of these sources

The history of the area has indeed been tragic, ranging from the Kurds, Asyarians and Circassians, all persecuted, murdered and driven out of their homeland especially the Armenians, at the hands of the Ottomans. Visited Fenner in Istanbul recently, the areas being revived after the expulsion of Jewish and Christian orthodox Turkish citizens with the 1950s riots. @zamzamkhan7592 жыл бұрын
@@YakoubBouyahji just because a Muslim woman doesn't wear a headscarf, doesn't mean she's not religious. The headscarf is just 1 percent of Islam. Islam includes thousands of other things. Just because someone isn't following one percent, it doesn't mean they are not Muslim or religious anymore. A woman who wears a headscarf could also be smoking and drinking alcohol. Would she still be seen as religious, just because she wears a headscarf? In my home country, all sex-workers wear the hijab, so would you equate those sex-workers as being extremely good religious Muslims? "Religious" is a very vague term which doesn't really mean anything. Every single Muslim on the planet follows some part of Islam, and not another and that's okay, they are still Muslims and we love and appreciate them all, and don't judge or call them non-religious. And let's not forget that hijab is a concept, not a piece of cloth on your head. it literally means a barrier, i.e. to dress and behave in such a way that men or women aren't attracted to you lustfully. There is hijab for men and women too, and the first form of hijab is not to stare lustfully at the opposite sex and keep your gaze lowered. Judging others and segregating them into "religious" and "non-religious" or "headscarf wearing" or "not headscarf wearing" isn't a part of Islam, and it is actually Haram. So if you judge a Muslim and call them non-religious, it's actually you who are non-religious because taunting and pointing fingers and judging is not a part of Islam either. It is incorrect to think Islam lies only in clothes. Islam is much more than that, but unfortunately the West has made the headscarf synonymous with being a Muslim or religious, and not wearing a headscarf with being synonymous with non-religious or liberal. It's really sad and also quite incorrect.

You, like the Ossetians, are descendants of the Romans who founded the Roman Empire. The people who built the Roman Empire were not Latins, but the ancestors of your people and the Ossetians.
@山青文3 жыл бұрын
If you want to find evidence that your ancestors were Romans, your only way is to read history books written by ancient Chinese court historians. The ancient Chinese did not name this country the Roman Empire, but Daqin, because the civil servants and people living in the empire looked like Chinese, so they called it by the name of the Chinese dynasty, the State of Qin.
@山青文3 жыл бұрын
The male Y-chromosome G haplogroup is the oldest Roman gene, while the Latin gene is J2, R1b and E3b. Later, when the Roman Empire fell, the barbaric Latins from the northwest took the opportunity to go south and capture Constantinople. Some of the Romans defeated by the Latins fled to Iran and Iraq, and some fled to the Caucasus Mountains by boat in the Black Sea. You can compare the difference between Y-chromosome G haplogroup and Y-chromosome J2 haplogroup. Gene G is not only distributed around the Middle East and the Mediterranean, but also in southern India, Sri Lanka, Java Island and the Strait of Malacca. The Romans representing Gene G once controlled the entire Mediterranean and Indian Ocean. Chinese history books also wrote that after the Silk Road on the land was broken, the Roman Empire was still able to come to China to provide tribute from the Silk Road on the sea. On the other hand, after the Latins became the Romans, it was the Byzantine Empire that later declined. Not only was it a subject of the Arab Empire, but also a subject of the Ottoman Turk Empire.

Eureka! I've been searching the internet for more than a year to learn about the Circassians. I love their dances which is what drew me to learn more. Thank you for the history lesson. I understand there is a community of Circassians in New Jersey. I hope they are teaching their children about their heritage. I noticed that the people don't smile much, until they play music and dance. Then they seem filled with joy. I think that's why I'm so drawn to their dance videos. My next piece of education will be wedding ceremonies. Also, very beautiful and also very somber. In my family, when there is a marriage, it is expanding the family, merging the two families together. It seems as if it is different in Circassian culture. The brides are sad because they are leaving their family to join the groom's family. I'll have to subscribe in case you address this custom.

Many Levantine middle eastern and Egyptians carry Circassian ancestry because Circassians were one of the main populations sold as slaves to middle easterners and Egyptians from the middle ages till as late as the Ottoman Empire. As slaves in the majority of countries.... slaves were given the names of the local Arabic speaking populations and once they were freed from slavery or bought their freedom they were Arabized and became members of the local population and intermarried with them. There was a time in Egypt's history when there were many Circassian male slaves trained as soldiers and became members of the famous 'Mamluke Dynasty' that ruled Egypt and parts of the Levant during the middle ages. The Mamelukes became so powerful that they over took Egypt at one time. In that time the land was known as 'Dawlat Al Jarakisa' ( State of the Circassians'

Currently writing a BA thesis which touches on the subjects in some parts. They basically lost dominance over the steppes to the Sarmatians, though they hung on on Crimea for a few centuries longer where they hellenized further. Then they were conquered by the Pontic kingdom, which became a vassal state of the Roman empire. At this point they started intermixing quite heavily with Greek and Taurian (native crimean people). Goths, Huns, Turks and Slavs would later on conquer the region one after the other until the last traces of Scythian culture were gone, with the only things left behind being some dna strands in the current Ukranian and South Russian populations, as well as quite a lot of weapons, armor and golden artifacts of the animal style in their imposing burial mounds, and of course their historic legacy which was ensured by the writings of ancient Greek and Romans who were fascinated by the simple pastoral and vicious warrior nomad culture (sort of how many people find the huns and mongols pretty terrifying or fascinating depending on how far removed they are in time from them).

Hi Masaman can you talk about the Indo-Scythians? Or Central Asian Migration to the Indian Subcontinent and the European Subcontinent?

Great video. Maybe suggest adding a small tract mentioning the Circassian genocide considering it's poignant status in the recount of the Circassian story. Other than that. Awesome.

what are those things strapped to the chest of circassian men? are those candles? or knives?
@princeinal75994 жыл бұрын
They are cartridges of gun powder. sometimes one would also be filled with honey as a snack for long trips, Or poison inorder to commit suicide before capture :DD

So, these straps are cartridges, a very old invention by native Caucasians, mainly Circassians, that before discovering the gun powder were filled with dried fruits and bread for war purposes, and then later were converted to gunpowder cartridges with one filled with dried meat and one with poison, so if captured won't be a prisoner

Great episode man! The Caucasus region is so interesting. Would you consider looking into the "Balkan Egyptians" of Europe or maybe the "Jackson Whites/Ramapo tribe" of New Jersey and New York? You have one of the best channels out. Thanks & Peace✌

There are circassians in israel that still speak the languge as main languge and preserved the culture as well to the degree that they were still practicing the pagan retual of the rain godess but it was stoped in the late 90's for various reasons,and the circassains are very patrotic and consder themselves as circassian first before the relgion

My name is Suhan my Circassian sir name is Janqat I'm Abdzakh from Adygea born and live in Turkey.My fathers ancestors from Maykop my mothers ancestors from Kuban.Our ancestors had to move to Ottoman Empire because of first Russian invasion.We like Turkish people and they like us.We have fought against invaders at Turkish war for independence.There were Kafkas calvary division on independence war.They often call us Kafkas.Some of our relatives came and found us at Turkey and they called us to come back to Adyga but we cannot live on Russian ruled land.We are fine here.Maybe one day I will go and visit.Not even quarter of that green area exists today.Turkey is full of refugees from many other ethnicities.Turkey is a sanctuary for those has nowhere to go.🇹🇷🙏♥️.Best wishes for all Circassians Greatest horse riders of the world.
