Great video fellas. You guys should do a few more paddle tire comparisons that would work on both the Mav R and the Pro R. Maybe a budget paddle tires, vs mid-priced, vs top dollar. Would be great as you guys dune-ride very fast, know the dunes, and understand how the sand changes. Seems that the SxS industry is moving to bigger and more HP vehicles, so info like this is extremely helpful.

Thanks my 2 cents Would be if you aren’t looking for aggression get those Packard sds ones or system 3 for smooth ride or go high end like Packard Bigfoot comp cut or Stu model. I wouldn’t do a low end or mid grade scoop. Either high end or get the smooth ride with the hybrid sds models

I would suggest trying Rogue Sand Tires. They are the lightest paddle tire on the market. Every pound and every ounce makes a huge difference.

I've been running STU Blackbirds #2 comp cut on my X3 for 5 years now. It's a great tire.

One thing to note. Comparing the Blackbird #2 paddle and the Packard Big Foot tires is apples to oranges. The Blackbird's with a #2 have a WAY more aggressive paddle. The #1 paddle would be more of a comparison. I bet they'd be 6's.

You should check out the desert master Stu. We started messing around with 35s on mavr. When I first looked at the desert tire i hated on it because it made zero sense how it would work on the sand as a paddle but somehow it works as good as blackbird. I still don’t understand the science of it. 😂

Do you recommend comp cut or a play cut? is comp cut very easy to puncture or can you drive the whole dunes? Just gotta be careful of rock and trees? Trying to get the fastest tire out there looks like it’s the blackbird 32 #2 for my stock pro r 4.

That is a good option I always do comp cut. Haven’t had an issue with holes but I am careful not to go in areas with trees and rocks.

Those front Packard tires are killing you in the drags. Especially if you aren't in 4WD you're just pushing so much more. I bet you'd be pretty even with sandcraft fronts or STU fronts. I am a big Sandcraft fan but the guys at STU are also super stout dudes especially after hanging out with them at SLOREX for a day. They make some solid stuff.

I'd be more concerned with the car putting itself in 4x4 like it's done a few times switching between drive modes. Having that big of a tire size difference between front and rear in 4x4 would probably be a bad day.

Our friend that has them flaked last minute so I’m not going to show something we didn’t test that day. I do believe those are good option. Main point of the video is get a really good paddles or just get hybrid imo if you are not going all out. Mid performance paddle tires are pointless just buy sds or system 3 option if you aren’t going to spend the money.

We're trying to get paddles for our Polaris Turbo R4. Tuned +40hp. Glamis use. Thinking Packard rear 33x15x15 sand lights and ss360 fronts. Do we go 10 or 12" wide fronts? If 12" wide fronts a 7" rim ok? On the right path? Appreciate help lol

You can do the 12 but I would just do the 10 on front with the Bigfoot 33 comp cut or you could do the sds front from Packard since you are already doing Packard rears

@@desertsxs the Packard front's seem preferred but they're 13" wide, you think average 7" wide rims ok with that wide of tire? Already got my rims picked out with good offsets I think lol. 10" (0 offset) rears and the fronts are 7" width (13mm offset)

@@chriswermer3425 these big heavy cars big paddles are important. Without a turbo on yours I would probably just do the 34 not Ho but I don’t think you would regret the ho if you did do it. I have seen the ho in person it’s aggressive but I like that. We do have them on our website fyi

If I choose my set up for yours it would be comp cut 34 big foot with ss 35” the 7.5 will bring down to 34 Black birds are great to just more money for minimal difference. So unless you were wanting a lot of paddle go Bigfoot Ho or blackbird comp 2 or 3

30s will keep your cg down but you will bottom out much easier

Man, at oregon dunes sitting by fire... 140 miles on sand strippers (came on wheel package) fn sand strippers are literally falling apart. Quarter size chunks flying off from middle of paddles... guess mav r is too heavy or too much hp for Chinese molded... at any rate, will be getting stu black birds and Tebos on front tomorrow.... $2300. Smh, should have watched this video sooner.... anybody want to buy some 32" sand strippers??

I live in the east and do tight trails and so I have a RMAX 1000 xtr and I am planning a trip out west and plan on doing colorado then moab and then glmis . If I am out in the dunes do you think I have the capasity to play in the dunes or will it be a waste of time to even go out there ,because its a one time trip and I dont plan on changing tires .
