The convertible bonds are like super call options with a zero $$$ strike price. If the price of the stock goes up, you can convert (exercise) the bond into stock. If the stock goes down, you still get paid back your principal on the bond aspect. You can't lose unless Microstrategy goes under and even then you are first in line in bankruptcy court. All the while you are collecting interest payments on the bond part.

But that is only useful for the convertible bond buyers not existing shareholders. They are going to get wrecked if Bitcoin retraces.

You still increase your Bitcoin per share as a shareholder via these convertible bond issuance, something like 70% over the last month alone. So its not like you get nothing even if you just held on through the volatility and did nothing to take advantage of it, like sell covered calls or whatever. Volatility is a good thing. Why people keep crying about it? Who cares volatility? You don't make money by being scared. Volatility is good, not bad. The entire Risk free return vs. treasury bond discount model has always been BS, and I am glad to see it finally getting 'wrecked' as you might say. Its always been a scam to sell terrible performing products to the masses. Its being exposed, but sadly most people will never really understand this I guess. Only weirdos on the spectrum who can't make eye contact with the camera that causes normie to think they are 'lying' because: "why can't they sell me a bar of soap like the good looking guy on the TV set does! I am used to be advertised to in a certain way! I am furious!"

If MSTR = BTC and the performance outperformed BTC, then by definition, MSTR is overvalued. Now, the question is, when we go into a recession and 99% of speculative assets fall to gold, if BTC falls against gold, then you are talking about MASSIVE losses expected for MSTR. In my opinion, I think the best position to be in right now is a short leveraged position against MSTR.

If BTC stays flat MSTR will not have an $11B print in Q1 to the P&L. Upon adoption FASB rule requires taking cumulative gains or losses up to 12-31-24 to retained earnings. As of Jan 1 it's like they're starting over and any increase measured as the BTC price at 3/31/25 vs 1/1/25 will flow to the P&L.
