Exactly!! My parents are overprotective, abusive, strict.. basically most Indian parents. But I don't consider it toxic. I didn't even consider getting hit by belts or combs toxic. Maybe overboard or emotionally draining but not toxic. I think I have a pretty healthy family. Mostly because my parents grew up in way worse conditions than me without a good parent to look upto. One of their parents not even being there for them. Parenthood has always been new to them and they are just trying their best for me and that's what matters to me. (This is what I'd like to say to others that first know where your parents are coming from) I do think that most people here actually have toxic families but most of them just like to throw around the word "toxic" without a thought. If it's just the outside then that means that's not a healthy family, does it? I know that everyone has their own problems, and having healthy parents doesn't always mean a happy life. Just social media and society in general causes so much distress on its own, that your fam is not the only source of depression. But I have to admit, that if you have healthy parents, you at least are lucky they care for you, as that's what they do. Some of us did not have the luxury to experience that type of familial love. as a kid who came from a very controlling toxic household, both are just as bad. they would never let you go outside and then wonder why you shut yourself in your room. they want you to be smart but dont give you any time to study by always needing you by their side when they vent. they tell you you dont need to have friends when you say that you dont wanna go to school because of bullies, and you only need to study. they say you should dress better but dont give you the things needed to. they say they love you but their actions show that they dont care (not cooking food, asking how your day is, checking on you when your 33° degrees hot, assuming your being lazy when your doing something). they give you necessities (phone for communication, school fees, clothes, shoes, a bed, a life) and then guilt trip or hit you when you dont do everything they tell you to. maybe that person your talking about also has a toxic family.

My brother is living his own life i'am so happy for him..my family is in a poor situation... I have a friend, I was really surprised when she told she shares everything with her mother. I still think she's so lucky that can do that. She thinks that every parent it like hers and forces me to talk to my mother too when I know I just can't. She forces me that if I don't tell my mother things, she will. But my mother will never care why I didn't tell her anything, she only cares why someone told her something about me. Isn't it obvious?
@Columbina.Damselette6 ай бұрын
I don’t share everything with my mother but I don’t hide everything either, I’m middle of you and your friend I think. But I understand you, sometimes you feel like you are so distant with someone that you can’t bring yourself into a conversation, even If this person is from your family, and I think It’s okay, to not feel close enough to her. If youdont want to talk, just don’t . Relationships change to the person you are with, and there is no need to force yourself to be good terms with everyone

My family is really toxic. I don't want to show it to anybody but now I feel suffocated. I'm a girl and I'm 25 rn from India and I live with my parents. My family is hella toxic, I never show it to anybody, I always show bright side of my family to anyone but deep down I'm broken. My father is alcoholic and he controls everything in my life. My mother always yell at us. My parents always criticise me, I can't even explain how they emotionally abuse me. I was a bright student but now I've lost what I had. I have no where to go. Sympathy not clout. It’s normal for someone to want attention if they aren’t given enough at home. I was neglected as a child (not horribly but I was harmed because of my parents negligence.) and because of that, I would seek the attention my parents weren’t giving me on the internet. Not to say this is healthy, it isn’t healthy to constantly post about your issues online, but it’s good to talk about it and not bottle things up!

Okay I know the person who made this will probably never ever see it and I probably look like the biggest jerk but I’m here to say it for the other people like me who were to scared to. Just because we had a good home life dosent mean we had a good life. Yes abuse in a home is terrible and I would never wish that on anyone and I’m not saying it’s not bad it’s horrible. But just because someone has supportive parents or a non abusive home life doesn’t mean they had it easy. Not abusive dosent mean not strict or not rude it doesn’t mean they also might not have anxiety or depression or that they have trauma. In final all I’m saying is that we shouldn’t value someone’s trauma based on their experience trauma is trauma no matter the circumstances, hope someone who needed to see this did ♥️
@Columbina.Damselette6 ай бұрын
Well I guess you are right (I have supportive parents too but they were lil bit careless about me xd) but I always think trauma is a big thing. Nowadays, I’m seeing everyone calls everything in the label of “trauma” and this is also wrong. People like this better understand the meaning of it and not calling everything in the name of trauma. There are so many memories in each persons head, most of them comes in midnight.. Some memories are just rough and discomfortable and we should also accept not all of our memories should be happy. Its just my way of thinking tho 🤍

Whenever my parents tell me we’re going somewhere rlly fun, I get extremely excited and that’s what makes me happy the entire day. And when they get back hone they just start swiping their phones and when I ask them ‘So r we going?’ They just say ‘You know what.. lets not go anymore its quite late’ when literally all the festivals haven’t even started and it’s like 6:00 or something. And they sleep at 11:30+. Wow. So real. And then when I confront them abt this behavior they just burst out laughing and they don’t take me seriously. All these festivals happen once in a year or once every four years. Every time we plan abt going there, in the end they’ll just be swiping their phones. And they try to comfort me by saying ‘What do u want to eat we’ll bring u there’ and the next day when I suggest a restaurant they’ll be like ‘dang thats rlly far’ ‘thats kinda expensive’ like literally the restaurants they choose are always 130+ and when I choose a cheap ass restaurant they say its expensive and very far. They always force me to go places with them but when I want to go somewhere rlly near my home and no money needed, they just dont give a sh*t. And every time my brother is also sick so we can’t go. I’ve cried abt this more than 11-12 times bc it always happens, but they dont care. And they try to make it seem like they care abt me by saying things like ‘oh ...i thought ...blah blah blah blah over exaggerating excuses’ but in the end they dont rlly care. Ik these parents aren’t toxic but to me its worse than being tortured. I’d rather die than suffer in this horrible family where no one cares abt me and my brother is the only one that shines in the entire relative/family tree.

I feel horrible for feeling a twinge of jealousy every single time.
