Gyarados is based upon a Chinese myth about a carp swimming up a waterfall and turning into a dragon, so I would put it among the fish, instead of the dragons

This was actually the main reason why I went with it being a dragon, I’m using the last evolutions only as I consider that the part where it is done evolving

I liked it a lot, it's really interesting to see how the pokemons (for me it's bruxish that I never understood what it was) actually make sense! Can't wait for the next one and good job!

At that point, what about Clamperl and Remoraid (one is based on a clam and the other a fish, yet when they evolve they completely change species)?
@Rigamarolled5 ай бұрын
I’m only going off the final stages of Pokémon, I consider them to be the complete forms. Pokémon evolution is actually metamorphosis, they change so drastically. So for example, remoraid might look like a remora, but it eventually becomes “complete” when it becomes an octopus.

@@Rigamarolled Yeah that makes more sense, it is still weird how a fish just randomly changes to an octopus lol.

Yeah, it’s because of the early designs, Remoraid was a pistol and Octillery a tank, really weird that they kept the original idea after they got rid of the weaponry theme

@@Rigamarolled The original design idea made more sense, but now it is just a normal fish randomly becoming an octopus cause why not. I also wanted to point out that Venonat is probably based on a flea despite it evolving into a moth (which is kind of weird), and I also wanted to point out how both the Venomoth and Fortressess lines are the only moth-related Pokémon who are actively predatory (despite being based on mostly herbivorous animals).

@@Rigamarolled Also, I was maybe thinking of sometime trying to do a similar idea to this but with Badniks (since a lot of them are based on animals, though they wouldn’t really have any biological evolution due to being based on robots, we could make a sort of evolutionary chart for how the Badniks would look like if we judged them like biological beings). I am also assuming that most of the Legendaries are really hard to categorize lol (especially the Creation trio and Arceus)?
